Any publicity is good publicity they say! If it gets diabetes discussed it's good in my book. We all look so well. I love this photo. It shows just how far we have all come on this journey. I hope the PR exercise will work well for us and for helping to make changes. The plan is to be on BBC news within 12 months. There are already members of the forum who are managing to get the LCHF word out there in various ways, radio, magazine articles and newspapers. It's fantastic.

This week I'm on a mission to get stats. After my dr told me I would have had the same results with lowering hba1c to non diabetic levels with a low fat/ low cal diet I aaked my gp surgery to confirm just how many pts had actually done it. It appears I'm the only one apart from post bariatric surgery patients!!! This does not support my Drs statement but reaffirms they are still dishing out wrong advice.

So today I'm writing to nhs England under the freedom of information act 2000 in the hope that they can provide me with the stats I need. I'm going to see what they come back with. If I don't get any joy I'm going to email every local gp surgery for their stats. I think we all know what the results will be but I want it in writing. Building up a case.
I’ve asked my surgery the same question in preparation for our upcoming meeting recdiabetes care. Will let you know what if anything is forthcoming.

Ladies and gents, my approach would usually be to ask for something I knew they could give, then build from there. has succeeded in providing something "right", they don't want to fail to live up to their past successes. Bouncing them up positively after what, to them, would feel like a failure is harder.

Surgeries should be able to provide copies of their entries to the annual diabetes audit. It may not hold the specifics, and doesn't talk about changes in any detail, but would likely be "informative", at least.

Sneaky? Moi? Only when required.

They may of course play the data access request/freedom of information cards and request payment, but that is their right.

Gave letter into surgery last week asking for stats. Got a phone call this afternoon from Rachel, Nurse asking why I wanted this information. I explained and she told me that they do not have this information as I am the only patient to have put my diabetes 'into remission'. She then quizzed me on how I had achieved my result, she got told. Rachel said she will get back to me and is going to look on this site.

Gosh another only one in the practice! You’ve got to hope that numbers increase!

A quick update.

I dropped off a letter to my GP surgery yesterday. Addresses to the 2 main DNs. I enclosed the Inspirational Stories booklet, 100 stone lost doc, blood sugar testing leaflet, low carb recipes, Dr Unwins paper, details about MP Tom Watson and a covering letter asking them to share all enclosed info with all hcp's, (10) and listed them. I added my latest social media post which i can't attach here as far exceeds 1000 characters! I will give them a couple of weeks and contact surgery. I said I didn't want to take up a valuable appointment so sending in the info and confirmed my email and mobile number for contact. Can't do much re getting our story out into the media as the DCUK PR team are currently working on this and I'm very hopeful lots will come out of our wonderfully positive Birmingham event.

I'm also going to email some if not all local surgeries asking for stats on how many patients have reversed or put their diabetes into remission.

Watch this space :)

I had contact from the surgery - they would like to see me next April - yes - seven months from now - to check on my diabetes.
Perhaps something about my progress is sinking in - or maybe they just want to go on about taking statins again.

Lots of bad press about statins around at the moment. More than usual.

Update on PR
I've sent another wonderfully inspirational story (And photos that show the journey so well) to the PR team. They will hopefully be able to add it to the booklet before it gets added to DCUK social media sites. I'm also adding it to our own one (the original) when my daughter gets a minute. Back teaching now and her free time is very limited.

If anyone would like their story adding just let me know. The more the merrier in my opinion. Good hard evidence the LCHF woe works so well.

I asked the PR team about approaching 'this morning' to get on prime time tv. 10 or so of us. Sitting with Holly and Phil. Telling our story. It's not rocket science putting this beast into remission. It just takes focus, determination and a certain way of eating! We can spread that word. PR team are going to do this so we will see where it goes. I would have contacted them myself but coming from the PR team will have more clout!

Waiting to hear from my surgery re what they think about all the info I delivered on Monday. It will take time for them to digest and discuss obviously. I so hope I get a positive response.

I wrote to MP Tom Watson. It appears he has been inundated since he came out as having reverse this diabetes with low carb diet. He is actively looking to change things. I also wrote to Dr David Unwin.

So that my little bit if chat for today folks. Have a good day.

Update from PR team = Charlotte summers is in Canada and designers on holiday hence delay on our booklet getting linked on social media sites.

@Debandez the diabetes.co.uk press office have put me in touch with a journalist from the Independent. Due to talk to her this afternoon. Will let you know how it goes.

Still haven’t given all the stuff to the nurse at my practice - keep having to move my non-urgent appointment. It will get done!

Oh my goodness, the Independent. A fantastic paper. Good luck for this afternoon. Not that you will need it. You are a wonderful advocate. I will add that to the ever growing list of PR successes once you give me the go ahead. Maybe it needs it's own thread. What do you think. So we can add links in for all to see. That could also inspire others. @Rachox @shelley262 your thoughts appreciated.

We are in it together. I couldn't have done Birmingham without all the support. Just waiting to hear from the PR team on where it is all going getting message out. Nobody better to do it than diabetics themselves. I've got an all expenses paid trip to London in the pipeline for 5th October. A magazine article and Photoshoot. I'm going to be singing from the rafters!!!! Hoping This Morning (and/or similar tv) comes off. That would be wonderful. We are getting there!

Very well done @Goonergal, a national daily?! I’ve moved from local paper and radio to a national weekly magazine. Keep your eyes peeled for me in Chat magazine on October 18th! We are edging closer and closer to Phil and Holly’s sofa @Debandez
