To @Antje77 - I'd love to take this elsewhere, just not too sure which sub-forum to post in.
When I'm not sure which forum to use I usually choose 'Ask a Question' or 'Diabetes Discussions'.
You can't move posts yourself (except by copying and pasting, and then deleting the original, which would become quite confusing with the replies).

Easiest way is tagging a couple of moderators like this: @lovinglife , @EllieM , @KennyA , and ask if they would be so kind to move the second half of your first post and it's replies to a thread of its own with a catchy title like 'Fatty liver, fasting, and not sure which type of diabetes.' or such.
To spare them from having to search for those posts, I'll link the ones relevant below.

Hello everyone. My name is Lin and I have been a type 1 diabetic since 1974. Had quite a few issues over the years with it and it causes quite a few curve-balls for me but I'm still going .
Looking forward to checking out the forum.

Hi all,

57 and was diagnosed late 2022. I was marginal, score of 52 so just above the 48 threshold. Just getting used to the numbers. Got a bit of a shock today when my bloods game back from the annual test and I had shot up to 80. So been offered the nhs diet supplement deal or pills so plumping for the diet deal although would like to know more about it. Also looking for a decent tracker to monitor my levels. Looking at Zoe for example. Does anyone have any recommendations? Oh the other thing is I do need to lose weight - I lost 1 and a half stone in lockdown but sadly I found it again. On top of the bloods result, I got a text about my liver so have to get bloods done again in 6 weeks - doesn’t rain it pours sometimes keep well

Hi. Newbie here. Pre-diabetic with GP advising me to go to .DN. Very triggering to a previously anorexic individual who is only BMI 20. So no, i am not going. Determined to kick this but not sure if i can. I mustn‘t ‘t lose weight and I have to watch fats due familial high cholesterol! Catch 22. Now here is the interesting factoid: statins can turn some people diabetic, and there we go. My HbA1 tests have shot up with each statin increase. Short of chucking the statins, I am stuck. All advice welcome.

ps….can you scuba dive if diagnosed as diabetic?

Hi @Zippy1st , welcome to the forum.

You might want to start a new thread with your post, as it will get snowed under on this long thread.

And yes scuba diving isn't a problem as a diabetic, although it may take some additional safety measures on some medications. Which is not an issue in your case! :)

I'm currently reading Dr Malcolm Kendrick' book The Clot Thickens.
I think you'll find it interesting. He's on various YouTube and podcasts too

Most humans, Politics and Me Me Me types!
Hello All, Geoff here from East Sussex UK

I'm 51 Years old, love animals, nature, walking, exploring and photography.

Dislike most humans and Politics
Seriously though, laid back and all round friendly guy who's greatest pleasure is helping others.

Been battling with Diabetes Type 2 for a couple of years or so. Was put on slow release Metformin and Gliclazide.

I've had a year of constant Hyperglycaemia. Daily blood sugars lowest 14-17mmol to 27-31mmol.

Finally, (Feb 24) they've worked out I need insulin so only just started on Levemir to see how it goes.

To finally come out of Hyper state after a year would be such a relief as I'm sure many of you can appreciate!

Hope you're all doing ok

Good morning, Thank you for allowing me to join..
I have just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I have been told by my medical team that being on a long term high dosage of steroids may well have increased the risk of this happeningIt is so nice to have this forum where I will be able to glean information
, help and support.

Thanks for the recommendation, I now have that in my pile to read - I would recommend also 'Stay off my operating table' by Philip Ovadia, MD
It's pretty shocking just how much of the information we were told growing up, and now take as gospel... just turns out to be poor science, twisted by decades of marketing.
My wife has been using a Glucose monitor after me banging on about this for weeks now, (so, just for info) and has just been shocked at the biggest glucose spike she's seen - caused by a bowl of Bran Flakes and sultanas, with skimmed milk. I mean, my whole life, that has been the ideal as far as breakfast goes, and it's just terrible for you....
