NEW! Accu Check Aviva Nano

hya paul,
lloyds do free checks too, if u dont want to take up a free offer then look around the chemist as they arent much to buy and also ebay sell some cheap ones too, all have 10 strips when bought new also, hope this helps :)

Hi totsy,

Okey dokey, my wife would probably prefer a new one anyway.

>if u dont want to take up a free offer
It was more that I didn't want to deny anyone who might really need/ 'deserve' a free one.

I will pop into our local pharmacy and see what they have.

Just to add - the Nano meter is superb! It uses Aviva test strips, is about at least half the size of the Aviva meter and the display text / figures are LED lit. There isnt a light however where you put the test strip into like the Freestyle meter has, but you can allocate readings as either premeal, premeal with an alarm to go off after your meal, or as a post meal reading, or just an unspecified reading - and then you can get averages of all this data on the meter.
It also uploads to the Compass software and also SmartPix (if you dont use these they are worth enquiring about).
I havent found that battery consumption is high (it uses two CR2032 round lithium batteries frm memory), and with the meter being smaller (but not too small!), it is easy to keep warm when outside in the elements doing exercise. I havent tried using it in extreme cold temperatures, but will do when I go skiing at the end of the month. I did the same as you and filled in an application form online for the meter, so you woill no doubt get yours soon. You will enjoy using it Im sure - I now only use the Nano and have the Aviva as a back up.
Good luck! If anyone has any practical user questions, just let me know!

Nikki

Received mine yesterday - like the look and feel of it. Have yet to use it! Hubby being very cynical questions how much more the accessories are going to cost?

Maggie, I'm using my Nano as my 'sexy little tester' at the office.
It uses all the same gubbins as my Aviva monitors, so I haven't even had to alter prescription.

Thank you again, monitor-fairy!

Afternoon. Just got mine today too. Its small which is good. One thing though, the results are different from my Accu Chek Compact Plus. Anyone else experienced this?

From today. Taken exactly the same time with the same finger prick.

11:50am C Plus -5.5 Nano -6.4
13:00pm C Plus -3.8 Nano -4.3
14:40pm C Plus -5.8 Nano -6.4

Slightly concerning differences there. Does anyone have any opinions on this.

Yep. We have had this discussion before.

They will never read the same at all, unless you are very lucky ! Even the slightest variable, moisture, heat, cold will affect the readings.

So long as your meter is reading within tolerances when using the supplied test solutions there is absolutely nothing to be concerned about.

Ken.

Accu-check Aviva Nano

I have the Accu-check Aviva Nano, and its a really good meter, does anyone know how i obtain the smart pix to go with it? (downloads BG readings to computer).

Is there a way i can obtain it for free?

Thanks in advance!

:)

Re: Accu-check Aviva Nano

Contact AccuChek/Roche. Customer service number is on their website.
I got mine as I'm a pump user but I think the cost is about £15 if its not on offer.
I have several meters and a pump and all the info goes into it via infra red. Very conprehensive and I like the layout of reports for spotting problems.

Re: Accu-check Aviva Nano

I'd be interested in getting this for free too. I got one of th emeters sent to me but haven't changed my prescription to the relevent strips yet. I'll only be doing that if they send me the software for free...

Hi! My dad recently found out he is diabetic, so I was very happy to come across this site. He had a wonderful diabetic specialist take care of him and she brought him an Accu-check Compact Plus. Unfortunately the Softclix lancer that came with it causes him quite a bit of pain. I'm not sure if it's just because he isn't used to it, but I'm hoping that there is something better out there. I was looking at the new Accu-check Aviva Nano and it's Multiclix lancer, and I was hoping someone here might be able to tell me if there is any difference between the pain levels for the two.
I appreciate any and all advice I can get, even if it isn't related to this. Thanks!

Have used both with very little feeling. Is he setting the depth correctly and clicking on the side of the fingers - not the fingertips?

He seems to be doing everything properly, he just needs to become accustomed to it (if that's ever possible).Thank you for the help!

I liked this little machine. It really won me over, due to it's portability and surprising levels of functionality.

Sadly I didn't switch to it long term as I prefer having everything stuck together (machine, lancer, strips) but if they managed to miniaturise the lancing device and have some sort of integrated strip carriage system I would take it in an instant. :D
