If only I could! I am struggling to hold an iron for too long and I have heaps to do here. I'll let you know when I'm feeling better.
...aw zand, just have some R & R today [rest and relaxation,, not rock'n'roll] and let the family do whatever needs doing..
...borrowed my son's bike to get the feel of cycling again, oh my god I haven't done it for years, went for a ten minute ride, really enjoyed it didn't fall off once...felt quite safe as I was on the promenade not the road...have been looking at loads on the internet to get an idea of what I want..
...so that was a quarter of my exercise done, just a walk to fit in before I watch Federer being thrashed in the Wimbledon final..
Yes, I'm OK really it's just my chest muscles hurt if I do too much, and ironing is one of the things that hurts....also pulling out my washing machine to find out what's wrong with it hurt lots too! yeh.....I know.....I should've asked the men in the house to do it........I did.Oh,
So sorry you've been feeling dreadful zand. Are you better at all today?
Huge hug hon.x
Hi folks, been offline for 2 days whilst having a friends' reunion over the weekend. I had explained my T2 and dietary restrictions, and bless 'em got things like ratatouille, tapas and baked hake wrapped in bacon with (baked) runner beans - a Jamie Oliver recipe apparently. And strawberries/raspberries with mascarpone cheese. And a glass or two of red.
I only had 10 minutes on the rower on Friday before driving, but yesterday we all did a 7-8 mile walk over a period of about 6 hours, with a leisurely pub lunch and visit to a house on the way. Then back to watch the football and Tour highlights.
I'm now in a hotel near Heathrow with my flight to Côte d'Ivoire at stupid o'clock tomorrow morning, just about to climb a few stairs to burn off an early dinner.
Next transmission should be from Abidjan or thereabouts.
Well the first week has been completed. I managed a 45 minutes walk on each of the first three days and then at least an hour on the remaining four as I had a couple of days holiday and the weekend. The only slight problem was on Friday morning when I opted to walk into town to get my hair cut. As it was lovely and as it was warm I didn't wear a jumper or a jacket for the 90 minute round trip. It was only much later in the evenng that I realised my thin cotton shirt had offered little protection from the sun and I now have a sunburnt back which is slightly sore. D'oh!
Yayyyyyy!
I am so excited for you Pollylocks. I only got my road bike at Christmas, so riding Box Hill was quite a challenge for me - particularly as I have so far spent my time riding around country roads rather than anywhere near town centres.
I am so glad you enjoyed it - you did way better than me on your first ride with 10 miles! I didn't manage more than 5miles on my first go!
At the risk of sounding patronising I'm going to say that I'm so proud of you!

Oh it's brilliant!!!!! It's only my chest muscles!!!!! I had crushing/squeezing chest pains so I spent most of Thursday in 2 hospitals having blood tests at three different times and 6 ECGs and a chest X-Ray. My heart is fine, it's only my chest muscles. The doctor thinks I hurt them walking briskly uphill that morning and I need to be careful if I walk up a slope while they are healing. While hubby was there I asked the A & E doc if I was OK to walk briskly/jog/run and he said yes definitely and I can ask my GP if I can give up taking warfarin too.. I'm so happy!!!!I missed what you did to yourself - have you pulled a muscle in your chest or is this actually a case of your heart struggling to keep up with progress?

lol - re sports bra and lampshades!Phew!
So that's just going to mean you're sore, but you're not in any danger. That's such a relief!
It's just a case of building up slowly then - Lol, that and maybe buying an iron clad sports bra!
Great to know you've got the all clear though - hopefully a few days of rest will settle things down - no swinging from lampshades for a few days girl.x
We did it guys!
Thank you so much for all of your support!
I've just been catching up with you all, so sorry for the plethora of sudden activity. Great to see you've all been getting on well - hope @zand and @Pipp begin to feel a little better soon. I can't even imagine how frustrating it must be to feel so sore that you don't want to move.I wish I could give you both a transfusion of some of my energy stores.
Great to hear @Pollylocks has had a sneaky bike ride! @Jamrox isn't it time we got you off a fixed bike and out into the sunshine? Talking of sunshine - hope @julifriend is feeling a little less sore today.
Brilliant to hear everyone else is cracking on too!
Yesterday's ride was fantastic! We did about 52km at a very easy pace - which meant no-one was struggling to keep up. Plenty of opportunities to chat along the way and the weather was just about perfect - warm with just a little cloud cover. Thankfully my legs are just a little tired today - but only in a 'good' way.
You can have a little read of how we got on on the TeamBG website, and here's a compilation pic of a few of us (I'm in red in the bottom left photo)
