struggling big time

Some more hugs coming your way! I'll just spend some time hoping things will get better for you shortly and I'll keep a look out for your posts. I hope it helps a little. I'm very impressed by what you've achieved in the past, both with handling your bipolar and with your diabetes. I'm looking forward to your posts when you start feeling better and I'm here with the rest of us to listen as long as you're willing to write about the difficulties you encounter in life. (extra bonus-hug for luck inserted here)
Thank you.
The main thing I like about this forum, is that I am not judged in any way x

Well my psych realised back in September that I was struggling and he got me a cpn short term. I saw her last October, not heard a word from her since. I have left no end of messages and never got a reply. I will mention this to the psych on wednesday
It makes me very angry that there are so few resources available for mental health support do push for more support but you shouldn’t have to. Trouble is that psychiatrists are good for meds but you need other support too a cpn or a psychologist should he available for all with severe mental health probs.

I posted because there are others here with some kind of mental illness and are afraid to say because incase they feel ashamed to be ill.
I want to thank you for sharing this. Your courage has helped me to be more open about my mental health issues, and get treatment and support when I need it.

You are in my thoughts and I hope you will accept a hug.

Hi @ally1
Just want to encourage you at this difficult time. I really admire you and your positive attitude to trying to cope. Very best wishes for Wednesday and hope it's positive with helpful ideas.

Considering the amount of people that suffer with some kind of mental health, the funding has been cut enormously. X

That's why I posted a few threads about my bipolar because many people won,t say they have a mental illness.
There nothing to be ashamed of.

I have seen the psych.
My anti psycotic has been increased, which hopefully should help. The one problem with that, is that can/could cause higher BG levels. Psych will again write to my gp requesting 3 monthly blood test as his last 2 requests have not happened.
Psych also said to keep the appointment with the diabetic nurse next wednesday and he also feels I need to at least be kept an eye regular with the DN. Somehow, I can,t see that happening as gp has not done as requested.

You could write to the practice manager asking why action has not been taken?

Ally I hope your visit to the psych has helped a bit and do keep on to the GP and DN to be seen more often and have more regular blood test. I do not know anything about mental illness but I do know it is nothing to be ashamed off. You are a very brave lady to talk about it and it needs more sufferers like you to make people see that like any other illness it is not something to be ashamed of so well done for that Ally. and I hope you will feel better soon and then you will get back on track with the diabetes

hiya

keep both, you will gain something from each one. Keep it going, you are amazing and you will succeed

Ross

Thanks for the update. I do hope the increase in meds helps you and doesn't do too much damage to your blood sugar levels.

Hello @ally1

So sorry you are battling demons again...

Did the psych mention about getting a permanent cpn for you or why you only had one visit?
I think seeing a bipolar when in a better frame of mind last year should have been followed up as its important for them to realise funtionality changes...

Did Psych suggest anything around like free courses for art therapy or anything? Our mental health team do a lot of free courses on mindfullness, art therapy and women have a separate WI especially for those with mental health called Rising Roses..
Does your psych have any access to put your forward for any therapy courses like these?

Could you ask for a CPN or any community help for you for when you do food shopping?

Thinking of you... xx

When I first had trouble with my surgery back in April last year, I wrote a letter to the practice manager, guess what, not a reply

I have always been open about my bipolar on here because I wanted to show other members that have a mental illness that there's nothing to be ashamed off

My psych gave me a cpn, saw her once in October, not a word since, yet she sent me a care plan.
My mental health team Don, t do any kind of course for therapy.
To be honest, when I saw the psych, it did, t occur to me to ask him why cpn has never been in contact since
