I wanted to drink something good without caring about carbs. I tried Cola Zero and it doesn't do anything with my b/s level so far. But my dad sometimes tells me that it is rubbish and I should not drink it. What do you guys think about this?

As with most things, one every now and again will in no way be harmful!

If that's sugar free then it's ok to drink. I drank quite a few Diet Cokes and Diet Pepsis when I was first diagnosed. I don't really drink them now (I prefer sparkling water) but if you're out with friends or missing that taste then they're a good thing to have as an option.

Now I'm not keen on any artificial sweeteners so I avoid them except on rare occasions, so in a way your dad is right but maybe you could explain to him that you just want to have something 'normal' sometimes. I also used to have sugar free squash (fruit drinks).

Coke Zero has zero carbohydrate so won't impact your blood sugar levels: from that perspective you can drink as much as you like.

In moderation it's fine, but like a lot of soft drinks Zero Cola can cause tooth decay due to the acid content.

Coke Zero is my favourite fizzy as it's carb/sugar free. Beware drinking it in the evening as I suspect there is caffeine in it. Drunk later in the evening and I struggle to sleep.

Coke Zero is not a healthy drink and it doesn't do anything good for you. As an occasional treat is fine, but its very easy to fall into a habit of drinking it on a daily basis. I know something about this, needed coke zero rehab!

i prefer to drink sparkling water

I find water really works for me, ice, lime or just on it's own. Art. Sweeteners I'm not too keen on.

Coke Zero is fine in diabetes terms, but the problem with the sweetners is that they taste sweeter than sugar. If you drink coke zero for special occasions or every now and again this won't impact you, but if you get used to that level of sweet taste, it may cause you problems further down the line.

Lol, I like the idea that you sat in a circle with Amy Winehouse, Drew Barimore, & Ozzy Ozbourne..

Then realized you were in the wrong room..! o_O;)

I can't stand the stuff! I go for diet lemonade, but my preference is sparkling water too. Quenches thirst a heck of a lot better than that sticky brown muck:yuck:

I am by no means a religious guy. But if God had intended us to drink Coke Zero.? The world would have been more like Wonka's factory.
That's my "thought for today". Gud night... :D

Women produce new human lives from their lady parts. We are god.

P.S Coke Zero with Cherry is rather tasty.

You can't pull it off without us fellas. Which makes us all masters of our own reality...

I don't trust the taste of "toilet block". Life as we know it needs water. :D
