Type 2 Life

Good morning my friends on type 2 life,

My blood glucose was 11.7 this morning after taking my metformin and my Lixisenatide. I've eaten two tins of Sainsbury's basics chili con carne - no carbohydrates or starch!

No carbs in Sainsbury's Basics Chilli Con Carne? How is that even possible?
OK you may be eating it without any rice but even in this recipe it has 22grams of Carbs (plus 9.5grams of fibre) per serving: https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chilliconcarne_67875

Here is a picture of the label - didn't you read it:

https://gyazo.com/b2ab868b66c363b67bd5b185c7db21bb

You had 2 tins of it, when it says half of a tin contains 21.6grams of carbs so 2 x 2 x 21.6 =86.4 grams of Carbs !
No wonder your BG readings are so high, read the labels on your food.

........No feedback on what I've achieved so far and what a hba1c below 30 in 4 months means.

It's like they won't talk about it, and/or really don't know what this means. No talks about remission or any interest in further study of my achievement.

At least in the UK remission is being studied. But not here. Kind of frustrating. You wan't to do well, and when you do, you're on your own. It feels like the "system" only is interested in the cases, where they can pump out medication, and if you stick out, you're seen as one who will likely fall back into diabetes 2 and high hba1c again.

Sorry for letting the frustrations out here.

Just be proud of yourself and what you have achieved. And help spread the word to other diabetics.
The medical establishment in the UK as well as in other countries are on the whole ignoring or nay-saying what people manage to achieve in this forum.
Don't believe that the UK as a whole is any better than elsewhere - finding a clued-up healthcare professional is like winning a lottery!

No he hasn’t and to be honest I don’t think I could cope being told he has something else as well . He’s still not sleeping right . At the moment he’s in bed but awake . I’ve now resorted to sleeping on the sofa .
I appreciate that, but with a diagnosis can come some help to ease some of the symptoms. Initially, it's just a blood test for antibodies.

Following on from yesterday, gp has kept him on the antidepressants. Ron said there working but being messed about by derby he thinks there to blame for his depression. As for the leg pain gp hasn’t done anything, to be honest I think he will always have it .

Mr Ickihun added weight on the antidepressants he's on. Hence his bad hip. Once I'm running along nicely I will be helping him with smaller diet (including beer) and more exercise. He feels he has arthritis in his hip but he had a fall 18mths ago out of our back door. GP diagnosed strained ligament. He fell again just before my op and badly bruised his right arm, internally too. He has to shuffle rather than walk.
I'll hv a bigger job helping him than helping myself.
I admire you @tina_marie.

Ouch, if hubby does have arthritis he has my deepest sympathy. The pain of that is unbearable at times. The cold makes it worse . Rons in a lot of pain this morning. He said it’s the worst he’s ever had . We’ve still not heard from derby for his next appointment.

Are you tempted to call the appointment line or the specialist secretary?

Don’t you love how stress and depression raise your blood glucose? I started the day in the 6’s. Then after breaking down crying at the supermarket when the check out EFTPOS kept declining all my cards after multiple tries, a check out assistant had a go and it worked immediately for her.

Checked my BG as soon as I got home and I’m in the mid 10’s. Yay type 2 diabetes!! *scream cries into a pillow*

I'm now 26 days quit from my cigarette addiction. Blood glucose was 16.9 today. I've been very depressed because of my volatile friendships. I've been comfort eating too. My Asperger Syndrome and Adult ADHD makes it an uphill struggle to manage my diabetes.

Due to on-call duty for the rest of July and start of August, I'm confined to my apartment and laptop. However just cleared the terrace for new flooring and cleaned the boys' litterbox. Fun work.

Still losing weight from my Roux-en-y operation. I'm delighted with it's benefits. Great bgs at mo.
How is everyone?

I've just been told I've got a learning disability that runs alongside my Asperger Syndrome. It doesn't affect my literacy as my command of English is very astute and prolific it's just my numeracy and my ability to function adequately in the community. I'm moving to my assisted living next month.

I am very sorry to hear about your problems functioning adequately in the community.
Now that I know about your difficulties I am sorry that I was so sharp with you about reading food labels. I hope that the 'assistance' at the assisted living will include helping you with your dietary aims.

Best of luck to you,
Ian

I've also been victim to a whole array of abusive relationships owing to gullibility in believing every tom, **** and harry who says they're my friends. I've been shouted at and sworn at, too. My financial corporate appointee says I'm completely incapable of looking after my own money, too and have been very badly financially abused. I'm at the lower functioning end of the autism spectrum, you see, although I do have some, but somewhat limited skills.

Hi all , not a lot has happened since my last post . Just waiting now for Rons hospital appointment. Transport has been booked so no messing with busses. Yesterday Ron went for a nap as he’s still not sleeping right , when he woke his fingers were in a claw formation that’s not happened for a while and also in bed last night he had a bit of leg spasm not much he says but annoying none the less . Rons mum has been in hospital for an operation hopefully now all the cancer has gone . Hope everyone is doing ok and keeping hydrated in the hot weather. Talk soon . Xxx

I had a very high blood glucose reading this morning after a BBQ chicken deep pan pizza of 28.3 mmol. I've just taken my Lixisenatide injection and 1 g of metformin.
