Mine does the same I put it down to the fact that I probably have a shed load of stored glucose that my liver kindly releases for me5.4 this morning but quickly rose to 6.6 by the time I’d got downstairs-fed the beasts(cats not children) & boiled the kettle. How come it rises so quickly just with liver release -I didn’t eat anything got another hour

Most of us here check our FBG numbers as soon as we get out of bed, because BG levels rise once we start to move around. That's normal and a modest rise is to be expected.Mine does the same I put it down to the fact that I probably have a shed load of stored glucose that my liver kindly releases for me![]()
Yes I understand this I was replying to a poster that remarked that their bg continues to rise. I always test as soon as I get up but if I test again before eating ( maybe an hour or so later ) my BG will have risen .I do get lower numbers when I stick to low carb. Most of us here check our FBG numbers as soon as we get out of bed, because BG levels rise once we start to move around. Are you doing everything you can to keep carb intake low ... ish during the day? Given time and a consistently LCHF lifestyle, your FBG readings should gradually fall further, so the morning rise begins from a lower starting point and is less noticeable.
If I was out on a run and I got that reading, I'd collapse. It's happened once when I was on Glyburide (hate that stuff.) Nice job!4.1 this morning![]()
