@PatsyB, most of us here check our FBG readings as soon as we wake. BG levels rise once we start to move around. That's normal and a modest rise is to be expected.
Are you doing everything you can to keep carb intake low ... ish during the day? Given time and a consistently LCHF lifestyle, your FBG readings should gradually fall further, so the morning rise begins from a lower starting point and gradually becomes less noticeable.
Meanwhile, IME, you can stop a jump in numbers first thing with a modest snack; we're all different, but a teaspoon or two of sunflower or pumpkin seeds or four to five almonds or hazelnuts should do the trick.
