Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

Good morning everybody.
Hopeful we are on the right track ........
Last 2 mornings I've awoken to 13.6mmol Blood Sugar readings, so I'm well happy at 7.2mmol today.
It's my lowest reading....

Just like to say what a lovely group this is and I'm grateful for the advice I've personally received, plus I've picked up lots of useful information from other people's experiences that are listed on here.....
Thank you ☺️

Woke to a cheater's BG this a.m. 6.1 mmol/L. Ravenous middle of the night and had a cup of mashed potatoes.
If I'd had a portion of spuds in the night, I'd guarantee to be in Double figures come morning.
6.1 mmol is very good to my mind.

I'd be tempted to put a couple of sausages with the mash and some nice onion gravy too, if I was going to have such low BG readings lol

7.2 mmols! That's good to know and thank you for those kind words of appreciation.

Woke to a cheater's BG this a.m. 6.1 mmol/L. Ravenous middle of the night and had a cup of mashed potatoes. What I normally do is put a tbs of Bovril Beef Boullion in a big mug of hot water and that gets rid of the munchies. Oh well......
Gosh! If I ate mashed potatoes at any time of day, never mind the middle of the night, my FBG reading next morning would soar well out of range. 6.1 mmols is none too shabby IMO.

Bovril (or Marmite if you're vegetarian) in a mug of hot water sounds like a plan if you get the munchies.

5.4 this morning but quickly rose to 6.6 by the time I’d got downstairs-fed the beasts(cats not children ) & boiled the kettle. How come it rises so quickly just with liver release -I didn’t eat anything got another hour
Hello and welcome back to this FBG thread for type 2s. We're pleased you could join us once again.
Congratulations on achieving a respectable BG reading first thing this morning.

To answer your question, probably because your body needs more fuel and your liver obliges. Given time and a LCHF lifestyle, your FBG readings should fall further, so the expected rise will begin from a lower starting point.

Meanwhile, IME, you can stop a jump in numbers with a modest snack; a teaspoon or two of sunflower or pumpkin seeds or four to five almonds or hazelnuts should do the trick.
