Anyone else interested in joining me by logging your weight every week - having achieved your personal weight loss target - to keep it in certain parameters?

I’ve lost a total of 28.7kg ( 4 stone 7 pounds or 63 pounds) since diagnosis and my hbaca1 has reduced from 97 to 30.

I’d like to keep it that way so have set myself a maintenance figure of 56kg to 58kg ( 8 stone 13 pounds - 9 stone 2 pounds ) so keeping me at my current bmi of 20.

Edited to add height 167.6 cms, waist 72cms waist to height measurement 0.43 ( normal ratio should be 0.50 or lower)

Also everyone’s normal weight does fluctuate up and down a little due to hydration etc so sensible to have an upper and lower target to keep to.

Happy with this weekend’s weight - 56.6kg ( 8 stone 13 pounds) BMI 20.1

Hello Shelley, sounds good to me. My only caveat is that I find it difficult to get reliable reading from my scales...I have a Victorian terrace crumble with uneven floor boards! The only scales I vaguely trust belong to my GP and I think he might have a hissy if I went there just to hop on his scales. I do know I lost 5kg in the first three weeks following diagnosis. Starvation and a bit of exercise but I guess mainly excess water output but I have continued to lose since that appt. However, I cannot be certain how much.

Rosco - Perhaps buy yourself a cheapo wooden chopping board and put your scales on there. That gives them an even surface to sit on.

Thanks for your suggestions. I don’t have a record of the GPs scales and my weight. So much info at the time but I recall his and my scales results were on different planets...

Well done @Moggely great loss and good aim to keep in the what is healthy for you range. Your body also sometimes has a mind of its own re weight loss! I felt I’d got there in February of this year with bmi of 23 but my body decided to keep losing so maintaining for me is also not letting it drop anymore as well as not gaining! I’m happy where I am now and my body seems to agree for now!

Maybe ask? Can you register too for online access? My weight records are there on my file for me to see - very helpful to see where you were especially from the time I was actively avoiding scales except at drs!

Thanks@Shelly262 I'm 5 feet 2 inches so don't want to lose a lot more but i think the bmi is pretty normal. Must look that up actually. I lost it quickly as i was too afraid to put anything in my mouth for month .lol. Your picture is very inspiring you have lost so much.

Poor grammar, bullying and drunks.
Please remember that BMI is a (very) rough estimate. A better, but still rough, guide is the height to waist measurement i.e your waist should be half or less than your height. Perhaps you could include this in your logs.

Will edit mine and add to my stats my ratio is 0.43 so happily below the half point

Hi @shelley262

Thanks for this - great idea. I would like to lose a bit more weight, but am becoming resigned to the fact that my body doesn’t seem to want to! Would be good to join in this post as I am at a healthy weight and at the very least don’t want to put anything back on. So my maintenance goal is to remain at or below 59.5 kg.

My lowest recorded (about a month ago) was 57.9kg which is a 43.1kg or 95lb (6 stone 11lb) loss. Yesterday morning I was 59kg.

Loving your pic Shelley - will dig out my old jeans when I have a moment!

Hi @Goonergal great to see you here! Wow what a loss in total 95 pounds ! Great setting an upper limit to allow yourself to lose a bit more if your body agrees!

Access to my GP records is a bit of a mystery. I can access the website, sign in and view various boxes titled with useful and enticing words. But can I get them to open and allow me to use them? Can I hell...I can see me having to go down there and ask for help to sort this out. Having worked in the NHS I am well aware that billions have been spent (in private sector) to build functioning sharing health system but as we all predicted it was a complete failure. Never mind eh, politicians chums made shrdloads of money, so that’s ok.

@shelley262 There's also a long running thread - "Weekly weigh-in - Fridays" in our Type 2 Diabetes sub forum that you might like tohave a look at too.

Robbity
Hi @Robbity thank you - yes I’m aware of the Friday weigh in thread and have done it every Friday during my weight loss and more recent maintenance- but it seems to be mainly about weight loss. I asked others on that thread about a new thread for maintenance as concerned it may be duplication and several there supported idea including @Rachox
if there’s no demand for this I’m happy to take the thread down and keep on the Friday one but wanted to find out if there were others maintaining who wanted somewhere to record maintenance rather than loss.

I think this thread is a great idea. I hope to join it in the not too distant future, when I achieve my target weight :)

My initial feelings are that it’s a duplication.
If one person follows one thread, another follows the other thread, then I feel you are diluting the forum's ethos of supporting each other. Bit of an homeopathic effect, so to speak.
Just my feelings.

My only intention was to mention the Friday thread as a possible source of interest. But I'm a real expert :wideyed: on weight maintenance - my weight's hardly budged for four years and I've joked on that thread that my scales can only show one weight.

Rosco - Perhaps buy yourself a cheapo wooden chopping board and put your scales on there. That gives them an even surface to sit on.
My husband's done similar for our scales with MDF(?) offcuts, as ours sit on carpeted floor and It does keep them nice and stable.

I can find it demoralising when I have soooo much to lose IF anyone did decide to look for more posters on Friday weigh-in to maintain only.
For some it could be rubbing salt in the wound?

As we all know we aren't all born equal. Nor exceed equally.
Its demoralising to hear constant goal achievers when some roads to theirs is years long. A very very long job.
I'm sure they'd pop in for support?

I love those who are achieving their goal or nhs goals. I'll like or post winner on either thread but I'm sure if one or more needs maintainance support it may be limited on the weigh-in thread?

Where do I log after bariatric surgery?

Maintainers or weigh-in ???

Isnt weight a constant concern for diabetics?
Maybe I will start a thread for bariatric patients, or maybe just allow posters make their own mind up.
No. I will start a bariatric one.... after my op.

On high-sight maybe I should have started a one for underactive thyroid, diabetes and on insulin weigh-in. I didn't feel I needed one as I was made very comfortable on weigh-in thread.
So
In the same respect. I think maintainers should feel free to post on Friday weigh-in if they feel comfortable doing that and this thread too. Maybe?
