Reading through the mentions of Babysham, and Snowballs is bring back some lovely memories of grandmothers at Christmas. I remember Advocaat, for snowballs, being in a cabinet with the best China that also only came out at Christmas. My mum liked Snowballs, advocat and lemonade. Never see them these days.
In a few days I'm going to pick up her charm bracelet...never see them these days, and I haven't seen this one for over 50 years but instantly remembered it.
My mum drinks advocaat year round, without lemonade. (She's not a big drinker, and once the bottle was open for so long it solidified!)Reading through the mentions of Babysham, and Snowballs is bring back some lovely memories of grandmothers at Christmas. I have a lot of "best" china because we bought it in 1965 in Japan. It is very fine porcelain but we fully intended to use it. However, it terrified everyone we put it out for - they were scared of damaging it so it sits there, in the cupboard, a total waste of space and our mt of our usable china comes from a charity shop.My mum drinks advocaat year round, without lemonade. I don't understand the "best china" thing, if you like a pattern, use it every day so it brings you pleasure. My parents had Arabesque crockery for their wedding which came out at Xmas, Easter and dinner parties only. I was astounded when as an adult I visited a friend's house and his mum had the same pattern and used it all the time.
My parents are downsizing and offered it to me but, apart from nostalgia, it's not really me, so I've suggested they sell it on ebay as 70s stuff is having a revival.
What type/variety?. I ate a whole lettuce minus the two leaves that went into hubby's sandwich, they're so tasty at this time of year!
I had a Waitrose Romaine earlier in the week that was also bitter. Today's delicious lettuce was a red mini Cos from Sainsbury'sWhat type/variety?
I found the Romaine we had the other day tasted bitter
so glad your first eye treatment is over. I couldn't have been as brave as you. Think they would have had to knock me out as I'm not good with procedures. Once again a very happy birthday.Good morning all. Beautiful day again. It's my birthday! 87 years young, going to count backwards on certain years! Had the first eye injection of 6 yesterday. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be but the stuff they put in to freeze it stung like blazes, for about 2 hours. Hope you all have as good a day as I'm going to have.![]()
That's a lovely cup. I would be to scared to use it as I'm heavy handed. Bet your drinks taste lovely out of it.Can you show me a photo of this treasure? Porcelain is probably the only type of luxury that I understand. I have only one cup and saucer, which I bought with my first "big" salary and was very proud of it.

I kept thinking about "Planned spontaneity" and your date today. People usually tell me I am spontaneous, but I'm very much not. I just know what my options are before I get into something, so if I have to shift gears, I can go to plan B, C, D or even E. They're not spontaneous ideas, I researched the ***** out of it all long before I went anywhere. That goes for menu's and holidays, and everything in betweenThanks for the tips @MrsA2 , very useful!
Funny too, I joined a facebook group for neurovergent adults yesterday to ask for tips for dating someone with autism, esecially as he's newly diagnosed and still working very hard to find out how to adjust to make his life a bit easier. Your reply fits perfectly with what they advised.
This weekend is for enjoying ourselves and eachother, and seeing if this becomes a friendship (possibly with benefits) or potentially more. I have absolutely no idea yet, but I do trust we'll have a good weekend together.
I'm not worried about adjusting to more planned spontaneity. He's pretty spontaneous himself, this meeting was proposed by him earlier this week because an 80 km walk was cancelled, and I have no problem asking if whatever spontaneous idea suits him and listening to the reply, even if it's no.
The things he seems to struggle with the most are very similar to my own when I was still depressed, what he tells me sounds very familiar.
I'm more worried about completely different social backgrounds, I hope we'll be able to understand eachother.
You'll hear, don't worry!
It may take a few days, he's planning to stay all weekend and even packed his work clothes so he can choose to spend half the night with me on sunday before leaving for work at 3 am, he lives a two and a half hour drive away. Sounds like a pretty bad idea to me, but it sounds pretty flexible as well!
Same food on the bridge as yesterday, prettier picture. And with added basil leaves, which I don't buy for myself but with having a guest on my bridge tomorrow I had the perfect excuse to buy a basil plant.
I have my break 4-6 pm and another two hours of work after that. So I eat at around 6:30, food tastes better during paid hours, no need to waste my break!
