What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Just back from a 'quick' trip to Asda at Scunthorpe that should have taken 25 mins each way but (on the way going) we got stuck in a long road works lane reduction speed limit on the motorway, two separate road closed diversions actually in Scunthorpe AND (coming home) a 3 Police car box in stop of the car in front of us on the motorway sliproad which was confusing and, at times, frightening. We're assuming the chap that was stopped by the Police wasn't too happy about it as he scrambled out it from the passenger side then attempted running across the motorway. He made it across the three lanes of the Doncaster bound side of the motorway but they caught up with him (on foot) half way across the fast lane going the other way.

Breakfast: Bacon and eggs
Lunch: some cheese (nibbled in car on the way home)
Dinner: Mr C cooking.... home made lamb kebab (lemon, rosemary and garlic marinade with a touch of honey) and home made chicken kebab (pomegranate and ras el hanout marinade) and salads
Dessert: Strawberries
Drinks: BDC, SSW, RW

IP translation please Zauberflote!

Hey viv! If you don't already have the answer from someone else, IP is Instant Pot. Combi pressure cooker, slow cooer, sauté function, all in one. I'm not much of a major kitchen gadget buyer, but this one hooked me.

DCUKMod is correct. I noticed on the IP Facebook group that they are saying too the wee IP will be available on Amazon from June.

Evening all.

Lesson of the day is don’t go into the Montezuma’s shop with a fellow member of this thread or you may emerge 2 minutes later with 10 bars of Absolute Black between you @DJC3 is such a bad influence.

Today was an almost OMAD day. Early morning involved quality control of some chocolate almond squares made in honour of @DJC3 s visit, with 3 more consumed late morning over a cup of Hotel Chocolat Teaolat with cream.

Then an afternoon meal of a bunless bacon cheeseburger with mayonnaise and a bit of onion at Five Guys.

Lovely sunny day and evening here which has involved 34.5k steps. PHC conference tomorrow.

Several seasons in one today here. Best description of today is evasive action Friday. First alarm came from scales letting me know I may be too frail. 4 dozen eggs, plenty streaky bacon and mushrooms, lots of cream could have made a breakfast available but the idea of them made me heave so lots of TWAM. A year ago I would have had the fried breakfast. By the time of first heavy shower at 1.20 I was, not surprisingly, very hungry. Last 2 Nandos marinaded chicken thighs thank goodness, 2 tsps almond butter, 2 babybels, sheep cheese and smoked cheddar. Dog walk while it was dry then electrolyte drink (EA1) and toasted pine nuts about 6.00. 7.30 Fage 5% and h/m LC choc granola to take Naproxen as earlier menu highly likely to leave my joints unhappy.
Grandson ill so Julie went to mind him and the little Princess. The young man has abdominal migraine - new one on us but not pleasant.
Edit: Also had CWC at lunchtime just to make absolutely sure joints will probably seize up

Evenin’ All,

B: low carb hot choc to fortify me for a bit more activity than usual.
Late L: cottage cheese and prawns. Yes, cottage cheese. I saw it online while ordering and thought how lovely and refreshing cottage cheese used to be for a work lunch. And gosh! It still is! Haha.
D: enjoyed lunch so much I intend to have it for supper too, in about 5 mins.

So that is a wonderfully liberating day involving less than 10 mins in the kitchen to generate 3 ‘meals’.
Doesn’t get much better than that.

And don’t worrit about Mr B. He ate well too. Low carb muesli, a fab designer salad he fetched from the deli down the street, and a nice sized portion of leftover butterchicken curry from two nights ago, with some of his stinky cauli rice.

It is a strange thing, but the longer I am carnivore the less I can tolerate the smell of veg, either raw or cooked. Used to LOVE cauliflower. No longer.

Boiled egg ,round of grilled back baconwith 2 slices of GI bread with coffee

Cooked Chicken ,very small quantity of mash , broccoli + garden peas .

Toasted gi bread with tuna spread with small quantity of baked beans ..

Trying so hard to get back to mid 5s but it ain't happening anymore one minor mistake and I spike real bad .

Fasted from late evening last night until 20:50 today. No liquids at all.

To eat Mains:
  • A grilled chicken thigh, two wings, two drum sticks
  • Fresh cut cucumber, tomato, greens (lettuce and leaves)
  • I had half a slice of this Wholemeal bread (mum brought it, looked nice had to try it)https://www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Roberts-Bakery-Heroic-Wholemeal-Bloomer/409366011 It's 15.2g of carbs per slice, so had half so around 7.6, which is quite a lot for something so dense and lightweight. Then again I am a low carb freak at the moment!
  • Olive oil, salt and fresh squeeze lemon as dressing over the veg (Feeling **** because I forgot the black pepper)

Dessert:

To drink:
  • Diet Pepsi Can (currently 24 cans at £5 at Tescos)
  • Making a cup of tea to relax
  • Will have water later on through the evening until sleep as I'm going to gym in an hour.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: cold chicken, pistachios, leafy salad, two cherry tomatoes and sweet pepper followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: coffee chia pudding and black coffee.
Dinner: cold piri piri chicken, cauliflower and broccoli salad, coleslaw and pork scratchings followed by raspberry Oppo cheesecake (I prefer the lemon or vanilla ones!), cream and LC chocolate granola and a small piece of Lindt dark choc Easter egg.

I promise you, if it had been me, the amount of Montezuma would have increased So glad you're having fun!!!

No breakfast . Tea with milk, coffee w cream.
Lunch LC bread with cheese, tomatoes. Yoghurt with raspberries and blueberries.
Walnuts and almonds.
Dinner. Cod with a (sort of) almond crust, cooked in butter and cooking olive oil. Steamed asparagus and broccoli. Hollandaise sauce. Glass of red.

@ianpspurs poor tyke! New one on me too but so was vestibular migraine. Apparently migraine has a whole range of symptoms. I hope GS can be well controlled

@Brunneria MrZF likes that cottage cheese too! I like it ok, but can guzzle bc of its refreshingness
Cauliflower is one of those sulfurous veg, and I read somewhere at some point that there is actually a gene which decides whether you can taste the sulfur and therefore dislike the cruciferous vegetables, or you can't taste the sulfur and you love them!
@Severe_Needle_phobia sorry that you're running into trouble. I hope things straighten out soon. Welcome!

Ooh rhubarb with it - interesting, I’d never have thought of that. I bet it is brilliant with pork.

Lunch yesterday: Liquid lunch, grilled flat head fillets salad.
Dinner: Mutton chops, veggies.
Breakfast: Cheese and mushroom omelette, bacon steak, tomato, reheated spudlite. A certain grandson did not get a new packet of bacon out of the freezer yesterday so a quick change to a nuked steak defrost for brekkie.

Drinks: Black coffee / tea, beer, water so I do not dehydrate and do a perish.

First of all I’d like to say that @Goonergal and I should probably never be allowed in Montezuma’s together again! We did resist Hotel Chocolat though so I reckon we get brownie points for that.
No breakfast but late morning sampled 3 of @Goonergal ‘s chocolate almond squares with a mug of HC teaolat and cream - absolutely delicious. Haven’t made these yet but will definitely become a staple I think.
Afternoon meal bunless bacon cheeseburger and mushrooms.
On my way home had a decaf Costa coffee with cream then Evening when I got in a couple of slices Parma ham and cubes of cheese and a couple of teaspoons ( honest) of the new jar of Whole Earth almond butter, just to make sure it was ok.
@Brunneria I used to take the small tubs of cottage cheese (yoghurt pot size) for lunches too. Ive noticed They only seem to do the larger tubs now.
@Severe_Needle_phobia welcome to this thread. Were you getting average readings in 5s previously with the sort of food you posted today? Some of your food (mash, peas, baked beans, bread) would certainly cause my bg to rise.

I was talking with my partner about meat cuts and the differences in names for it around the world.

I mentioned cow heel, as in the fifty years (almost) that we have lived here we have never seen it on sale in Australia. Is it still available in the UK butcher shops, or is it used for glue.

@DJC3 we get Breakstone little containers of cottage cheese in any grocery store but oh my the price! And the plastic!!!! So glad you're having Londony fun!
Bfast 1/2 avocado, 2 flax muffins I found in freezer, pecans, DWGoatM, ....THREE sq 90% chocolate! This was all waiting in frig when I got up at crack of dawn to take cat to vet on a "work me in" basis, but the cat had begun to resolve his own problem overnight so I got to stay home. That's when the third piece of chocolate appeared magically in my bowl....
Lunch all over the place literally. 3 olives and some DWC in car on way to gig, later at home 2 batches of #crispies nuked about 3.5 times thicker than I've been doing. A whole new experience! Delicious in a whole different way. Yum.
Supper flowing from lunch right into a whole avocado (!), with a few spoons of the quark -- that's the guacamole melt for: waiting for my fried chicken slices to cool enough to eat. MrZF will get the actual Guacamole Chicken Melt or whatever it's called. Mine is simply deconstructed, which is all the rage among the hottest most avant-garde chefs if I believe the Wall Street Journal.
This chicken is from Costco, the giant packs of skinless boneless breasts, sealed in packs of three. I have had them thawing a little too long in the frig, and when I took the vacuum pak out, it de-vacuumed on the floor. Oh. Right. This must be the one that the (other) cat chewed a hole through before I got it into the freezer. And here I thought vacuum sealed meant not even a molecule of raw meat smell could escape. Ha!
Sleep well all, get where you need to be on time tomorrow, and may the weather shine on you!
Edit to add another pic in hopes of getting rid of the toilet paper one! A piece of #crispie the other day
