The New Zealand fridge / freezer company Fisher & Paykel and Paykel is pronounced PIekel. How odd to my ear! So when the weather is very cold out, you might say it is frigid-with-a-hard-G? Language is so much fun!!! (I'm serious)
Thanks for the idea of 3 small meals @shelley262. I have been aware of your liking for that method for some time and thought about adopting it myself. I know from experience that a small breakfast for e.g. would make me very hungry mid morning and struggle to make it to lunch. I probably need to see this next few weeks. If June's A1c is not a total disaster I will probably have to accept I won't ever win that one but I might scrape through overall on away goals.@BibaBee so sorry to hear about mr B hope you get help and reassurance from specialist sounds alarming and worrying for you both
@ianpspurs im a breakfast fan I tend to do better with my bgs with it. However I try to delay till 10am and finish my third meal by 6pmwhenever I can. I find smaller meals regularly produce best results for me. Maybe give it a try? When I don’t my bgs go up especially if stressed. My bgs do go right down if I fast over a long period ie more than a day but I do less well on Omad.
Brunch - had to leave early and like to have restricted eating window - prawns, smoked salmon and a few salad leaves with olive oil followed by four squares of 100% choc
Dinner lamb chop, cauliflower cheese with small glass red wine followed by sf jelly and cream
@DJC3 re casseroles-- my goodness yes the language thing! Our most common casseroles involve (nasty processed food alert) a pasta, canned tuna, possibly cheese, cream of usually mushroom soup, and for topping either canned onion ring snacks or crushed potato chips. Macaroni and cheese is also a casserole. MrZF's favorite comfort food is M&C made my way (proper roux-based cheese sauce), or, tuna casserole ditto. The casserole is the staple of church potluck meals, and a standard Mid-West Lutheran joke!
I think we'd call your luscious-sounding version stew in search of vegetables!

Food today...
Didn't even have my usual chocolate first thing....sigh...I was sleeping/meditating instead...and when I saw the sun, I got up.
So breakfast of eggs and cheese stirred but not nuked in the microwave ...
It took me longer than I thought to do shopping. It was too hot.
So it was 2pm I had the remainder of the cold chicken, and some cooked pork shank just bought from Morrison's. And some cheese coleslaw and Branston pickle coleslaw. No idea what the carbs were in it.
Then retired to the potting shed with cat and Montezuma's dark chocolate buttons...73% and coffee with cream, and fell asleep, the buttons untouched...so far.
Going to take a bg reading and see how many chocolate buttons I deserve...
Will update in a mo...and when I have a cuppa.
So far, 2 mugs coffee with cream, loads water and I put a scrap of salt in it.
I don't think I have eaten enough today, but 3:30 pm is too late for me to eat.
>^..^<
UPDATE: bg is 8.6 and it is nearly 4 pm.
I am still going to have a few chocolate buttons...I fancy them !
I have my laser eye op thingy on Friday and am tensed up over it.
We are probably on the same wavelength here. I am happy with weight around where it is - currently sub 22 bmi but obviously fluctuates slightly. Labelling the times I eat may be unhelpful - I see breakfast as something pre 7.00 am at the latest. Pretentiously, I wonder if I should rename things to NE1 etc for nutritional eventIan, I don't know where you are on openness to your weight varying a little short term, but if I recall, you said you were lighter than your ideal?
That being the case, why not consider adding in a protein/fat brekker - even something really simple like egg muffins, batch cooked for simplicity, and see how it goes. I doubt your weight would shift much.
If you're really against a slight increase in weight, then reshuffle your usual eating to "steal" a bit of lunch - say some avocado, and have it at breakfast time.
I'm sort of thinking that way you might just be distributing your food differently during the course of the day.

Pretentiously, I wonder if I should rename things to NE1 etc for nutritional eventShifting the content of the actual nutrition between numbers somehow seems easier than "moving" lunch food to "breakfast" food. There are definitely foods I can't tolerate before 7.00 but a protein/fat combo built around eggs/avo protein+fat shakes would work. The shake idea as the most frequent appeals to most. Thanks so much for the advice.
I love the sound of your potting shed. If I went into ours I’d have to nap in the wheelbarrow.
Do you not eat in the evening? You said 3.30 is too late for you to eat.
Loving that elision. On a serious? note I am becoming very certain that I need about 6 NEs with small amounts of protein after an EE (exercise event). I know this WOE implies snack bad but my body seems to disagree strongly. Couple of baby bells, h/b egg or similar after exercise bike/weights/long session of lawn mowing is really what my body is clamouring for and I think denying it is now becoming the problem not the solution. So NE after EE mat be the new black.Haha! I am loving the Nutritional Event label, AND the Nosebag label.
Hmm
I may just adopt them as NosebagEvent (NE) 1, 2, 3...
