How odd to my ear! So when the weather is very cold out, you might say it is frigid-with-a-hard-G? Language is so much fun!!! (I'm serious)
The New Zealand fridge / freezer company Fisher & Paykel and Paykel is pronounced PIekel.

A bit like fush and chups... :D

Evening all. Eggs, bacon and cheese two ways today.

Lunch was at cafe near work - 2 fried eggs, 3 rashers bacon and grated cheese.

Dinner - planned Five Guys at Canary Wharf part way through my long walk home from work, but was in the zone, wasn’t too hungry and the sun was still warm so ploughed on home. Much later than usual meal of Diet Doctor breakfast sandwich followed by cream and almond butter.

@Chook I love kippers too, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. M&S were out of the nice Arbroath ones when I went in on Monday so need to go back.

@DCUKMod having Ikea within walking distance (new branch opened Feb) is proving dangerous!

@maglil55 interesting discovery with the SF jelly

Hi All
Breakfast: my usual 1 slice HiLo toast, butter and tea.
Lunch: Out with a friend, had their house made asparagus, pea and mint quiche with salad which was fabulous. Very thin pastry the outsides of which I discarded and amazing insides with lots of asparagus.
Supper: small chilli beef with cauli rice followed by 4 sq Lindt 90.

@BibaBee so sorry to hear about mr B hope you get help and reassurance from specialist sounds alarming and worrying for you both
@ianpspurs im a breakfast fan I tend to do better with my bgs with it. However I try to delay till 10am and finish my third meal by 6pmwhenever I can. I find smaller meals regularly produce best results for me. Maybe give it a try? When I don’t my bgs go up especially if stressed. My bgs do go right down if I fast over a long period ie more than a day but I do less well on Omad.
Brunch - had to leave early and like to have restricted eating window - prawns, smoked salmon and a few salad leaves with olive oil followed by four squares of 100% choc
Dinner lamb chop, cauliflower cheese with small glass red wine followed by sf jelly and cream
Thanks for the idea of 3 small meals @shelley262. I have been aware of your liking for that method for some time and thought about adopting it myself. I know from experience that a small breakfast for e.g. would make me very hungry mid morning and struggle to make it to lunch. I probably need to see this next few weeks. If June's A1c is not a total disaster I will probably have to accept I won't ever win that one but I might scrape through overall on away goals.

Put our online grocery order in earlier this morning so we got a better delivery window Friday morning.

okra. Cigarette smoke, old, new, and permeating a room, wafting from a balcony, etc etc. That I have so many chronic diseases. That I take so very many meds. Being cold. Anything too loud, but specifically non-classical music and the television.
@DJC3 re casseroles-- my goodness yes the language thing! Our most common casseroles involve (nasty processed food alert) a pasta, canned tuna, possibly cheese, cream of usually mushroom soup, and for topping either canned onion ring snacks or crushed potato chips. Macaroni and cheese is also a casserole. MrZF's favorite comfort food is M&C made my way (proper roux-based cheese sauce), or, tuna casserole ditto. The casserole is the staple of church potluck meals, and a standard Mid-West Lutheran joke!
I think we'd call your luscious-sounding version stew in search of vegetables!

@Brunneria that casserole is stew, I tell you, stew!
Bfast 1/2 avocado, pecans (am I the only one eating them? They are LC to begin with and 3/4 of the carbs are fiber!). CrispieD 3 tbsp recipe, DWGoatM, 3 sq 90% which I now have to do the periodic cleanse and detox from. BG went up to 7.8. Don't wanna give up my zoom aid!
First supper very many VERY stale salted macadamias from a hidey-hole in my car. Have to chuck them, gackkk! Maybe a little yogurt.
Second supper after ballet I think a piece of hm brown bread with olive oil.
Sleep well all, and peaceful rising.

I had an email from one of the many low carb recipe sites yesterday offering a ‘Big Mac Casserole’ Decided to stop getting notifications from them after that!
I used to always make a proper roux based cheese sauce too - mostly for cauliflower cheese rather than M&C - but the lc version with just cream and cheese is so much quicker and easier and nicer. I wouldn’t go back to the old method even if I could.

Food yesterday
B coffee with cream
L cheese & bacon muffins followed by Greek yoghurt
D Keto Corgetti carbonara
It was the first time I had made Carbonara it was from a book of keto recipes bought from The Works, which I intend to work my way through.
Breakfast today is the same as yesterday.
Enjoy the sun while it lasts. The UK is apparently due for thunder at the weekend.

Ian, I don't know where you are on openness to your weight varying a little short term, but if I recall, you said you were lighter than your ideal?

That being the case, why not consider adding in a protein/fat brekker - even something really simple like egg muffins, batch cooked for simplicity, and see how it goes. I doubt your weight would shift much.

If you're really against a slight increase in weight, then reshuffle your usual eating to "steal" a bit of lunch - say some avocado, and have it at breakfast time.

I'm sort of thinking that way you might just be distributing your food differently during the course of the day.

Food today...

Didn't even have my usual chocolate first thing....sigh...I was sleeping/meditating instead...and when I saw the sun, I got up.

So breakfast of eggs and cheese stirred but not nuked in the microwave ...

It took me longer than I thought to do shopping. It was too hot.

So it was 2pm I had the remainder of the cold chicken, and some cooked pork shank just bought from Morrison's. And some cheese coleslaw and Branston pickle coleslaw. No idea what the carbs were in it.

Then retired to the potting shed with cat and Montezuma's dark chocolate buttons...73% and coffee with cream, and fell asleep, the buttons untouched...so far.

Going to take a bg reading and see how many chocolate buttons I deserve...

Will update in a mo...and when I have a cuppa.

So far, 2 mugs coffee with cream, loads water and I put a scrap of salt in it.

I don't think I have eaten enough today, but 3:30 pm is too late for me to eat.

>^..^<

UPDATE: bg is 8.6 and it is nearly 4 pm.

I am still going to have a few chocolate buttons...I fancy them !

I have my laser eye op thingy on Friday and am tensed up over it.

I love the sound of your potting shed. If I went into ours I’d have to nap in the wheelbarrow.
Do you not eat in the evening? You said 3.30 is too late for you to eat.

We are probably on the same wavelength here. I am happy with weight around where it is - currently sub 22 bmi but obviously fluctuates slightly. Labelling the times I eat may be unhelpful - I see breakfast as something pre 7.00 am at the latest. Pretentiously, I wonder if I should rename things to NE1 etc for nutritional event:angelic: Shifting the content of the actual nutrition between numbers somehow seems easier than "moving" lunch food to "breakfast" food. There are definitely foods I can't tolerate before 7.00 but a protein/fat combo built around eggs/avo protein+fat shakes would work. The shake idea as the most frequent appeals most probably most practical. Thanks so much for the advice.

I generally don't like labels, but somehow in this hacienda, the first nosebag of the day is always referred to as breakfast.

I know if I have a bonkers busy day in prospect, and have the flexibility to achieve it, I'll often just do N1 - ginagerous, N2 perhaps even non-existant, and N3 whatever else I need to do to prevent an N4, as I don't do snacking. Similarly, if I have, say, early bloods, it'll be no usually timed N1, but maybe a coffee, stopped off on the way back from the hospital (because those days are always hungry days, arent't they?), N2 being designed to stop me prowling the kitchen, and N3 BAU. Ando so on.

As someone who, when working more formally, often, literally had back to back meetings all day, I learned to do whatever to stop the hangry me surfacing in the face of the wholly innocent. Hangry me isn't too nice. :angelic:

In this instance N = Nosebag

I love my potting shed...it actually has a narrow bed in it which cat and I use daily! It has absolutely nothing to do with plants...it has books (lots), writing materials and more...it is my creative den.

No, I don't eat in an evening. I can't.

It has nothing to do with my diabetes that I cannot eat later in the day.

I have GERD, reflux.

If I eat any later than 2 or 3 pm the food will come back up. Especially at night when if I have eaten even a little something in the evening (even a tiny bit of chocolate cos I fancied it), then I will have severe reflux in the night and I have to sleep bolt upright, and even then I am still very uncomfortable.

I have some medicine for it, which enables me eat earlier in the day, but it doesn't work for later today in the day.

Because of the GERD, my last meal was always 2pm for the last 20 or 30 years.

Now I have diabetes type2, I have been trying to eat a bit later in an attempt to maybe control my fbg in the morning, make it lower, but the absolute latest I can actually eat food is 3 pm, or else the GERD makes itself known with severe reflux during the night.

So it is nothing to do with my diabetes I cannot eat after 3pm.

Hope that explains.

People who think they know everything.
Because of Mr C working rotating and/or night shifts for many years we tended to eat just when we were hungry - with no meal names. Then, when I was diagnosed I followed the DN's instructions and started eating in a more structured way, giving the meals their traditional names - breakfast, lunch and dinner plus snacks - which was absolutely horrible and made my BG significantly worse (although at the time the DN said it was the disease' s natural progression).

Nowadays at weekends my preference is for a meal at about 10am and another about 4 or 5pm (with no meal names unless I'm posting here) but unfortunately diabetes and Mr C's work gets in the way of doing this every day and I find myself having to have an early breakfast to stop the dreaded DP which leads me on to having a snack at about 12.30 and my main meal - dinner - about 6 or 7 pm. If I could stop the DP permanently, I would definitely go back to eating just unnamed meals when I feel hungry.

Haha! I am loving the Nutritional Event label, AND the Nosebag label.

Hmm

I may just adopt them as NosebagEvent (NE) 1, 2, 3...
Loving that elision. On a serious? note I am becoming very certain that I need about 6 NEs with small amounts of protein after an EE (exercise event). I know this WOE implies snack bad but my body seems to disagree strongly. Couple of baby bells, h/b egg or similar after exercise bike/weights/long session of lawn mowing is really what my body is clamouring for and I think denying it is now becoming the problem not the solution. So NE after EE mat be the new black.
