The IP mini is on offer in this month's BBC Good Food. They have codes for £5 off or if you're a subscriber £10 off which takes it to £59.95.Mega-busy day today, with dinner around 5pm, as I had our localDUK meeting this evening. Beautiful rib eye with caramelised onions and garlic, salad and there was creamy mash available which I mainly swerved.
Unwinding, this landed in my inbox. Some look like they'd be very straightforward to LCify. Could make for an idea for the Hilda's season?
I've had that before. Wouldn't have thought of using it for lasagna though. It did make a reasonable wrap though.Haven’t tried it myself but a friend has posted on Facebook that strips of Joseph’s Lavash bread (v low carb) do a good job as a lasagne substitute.

I've not got to the end yet so I don't know if @ianpspurs have commented yet. I have had one skinny bread that went like that and it was because I had the patio doors open and it got a draught! When it proves it does rise quite a bit. Now, I put the oven on and mix it in the bowl on the glass top of my range cooker (making sure the outside doors are closed). I find the best thing to do is to knead it in the bowl. Another thing to watch is the amount of warm water you add. I tend to add under the recommended amount and gently add little by little if you need a little more. If it's too wet it doesn't rise. I found about 45 - 60 mins was about the best proving time.@maglil55 and @ianpspurs help please. I made some Skinny bread yesterday and had some toasted with breakfast. I was really disappointed - it was spongy and very chewy like an uncooked crumpet. What did I do wrong? Is it meant to rise much when proving? ( mine didn’t, but my house isn’t very warm ) I also think I may not have cooked it for the right time, I forgot to set a time then went off to play with Dennis and had no idea how long it had been in. My guess is under rather than overcooked but the outside was quite dark and it sounded cooked when I tapped its bottom.
@Brunneria I’m the same with eating late, much happier to eat early in the evening these days. Hope you’re having fun with the relatives though, are the dogs being spoilt?
I haven't.
I feel for you Ian with the side effects. I had to deal with the same issues with my brother and it was nerve wracking for me never mind how he felt. It passed eventually thank goodness but he learned to get all 6'4" of him upright in stages. Do take care. So,having worked out some menus which may have seen me through autumn and winter the combined side effects of an alpha-blocker and an inhibitor of steroid Type II 5a-reductase seem to have blown those ideas out of the water. Both have common side effects of muscle weakness/wastage along with dizziness, weakness, feeling faint and tiredness - had all those + 3.30 waking and weight gain. Methinks more protein and time on the weights is a priority - today the tiredness and weight drove the menu. Tomorrow is 35th wedding anniversary (Duck+ maybe first wine since Boxing day) and Monday is nursey day so Tuesday looks favourite for more protein
B=tea and watching amazing rugby (kamakaze kids + Maro were awesome); L- celagne, mushrooms and some tommy k; Evening = LOTR, hot choc/cocoaand CCB104 gms cheddar, 2 slices corned beef and 4 cherry toms. I liked the food but this seems to be a different game.
Thanks for your thoughts on this, @shelley262. Yes, feeling cold will probably do this to all of us. How were your blood sugars the next morning after the cashews?
For me, I've wondered whether it has something to do with getting close to my optimal weight/body fat level? If I don't eat, the feeling of hunger is not too bad, but once I start eating ...
Today, for example, I had a medium steak and guacamole for dinner. It really should have been enough, but didn't quite feel satisfied and went back for the rest of the guacamole (a whole three avocados, mayonnaise with a bit of tomato, onion, jalapenos and cilantro).
Edited to add: Just checked blood sugars and fortunately they aren't too bad right now. Uff!
