What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Don't need a hob, I agree. Much better with a 7 burner, duel fuel range with 2 ovens, grill and keep warm drawer.



I have fed a small army (20+ ppl) with one portable induction ring, a single oven and a slow cooker.

now I have a 4ring hob, a halogen oven, a vitamix, an IP and an airfryer, the world (as they say) is my lobster, and there is usially only the 2 of us.
(Actually, I never use more than one ring at a time. )

today was:

B: lc hc
L: sirloin in airfryer
D: Waitrose ‘takeaway’ chicken shashlik, aubergine thingy, dahl, and 2 other curries... only had a teasp of the non carni options. Delicious.
 
Today :

Breakfast : omelette at work ( the cook forgot to add ham , instead added tomato
). I did not return it, just ate it because it still had cheese. Black coffee.

Lunch : tiny ting piece of fish , 1 spoon yogurt, nothing else .

Snack : cheese

Dinner : beef and 1 spoon of cooked spinach .
Dessert : blueberries

Waiting for a delivery : it’s a teddy bear . Very excited


I gave a seminar today and no one understood it. It had too much maths for fellow mathematicians

So feeling a bit low . Might eat keto ice cream later to cheer myself up.

Sounds like you had a torrid day.

I knw it's a slightly different topic, but when we bought our big boat, we knew it needed some work and were happy with that, as it would allow us to have what we wanted, rather than what we got, and the existing structure, style and all that was already there.

When we started "lifting the lid" to do what should have been minor repairs and upgardes, we found the most shocking bodge jobs imaginable to mankind, that weren't picked up on survey. Some were just bonkers! At one stage we were sure the plumbing systems on that boat were held together by seized stock-cocks (which connect the inside to the ouside of the hull, so pretty important really, and, well, what can only be described as bluetac.

Waking up, at anchor, in a beautiful bay, to step out of bed into 2" of water, on the cabin floor (in other words, we were sinking!) drove sleep away pretty quick.

We had all 4 bilge pumps running at full power, plus manually shifting buckets out from the bilges. No need for 10,000 steps or bingo wings exercises that day!

On the upside, all the noise of pumps and squeaking manual pumps brought a school of dolphins, including 2 very small calves, to visit. The circled us, only about 10ft off, just keeping watch for about an hour. That really made our day.
Needless to say, the plumbing had a unexpectedly major overhaul.

Every time we found something like that, we'd mutter something like "better to have found it now", whilst the words in our brains were far less charitable!

You'll get there, Lizzie, and we look back on those times now and smile at some of the lessons learned and adventures those times brought us. I hope you manage to do the same, next year, or in a few years when it all seems lifetime away.

I grew up having a lot of blood noses while sleeping, so blood doesn't bother me. It's a pain to clean up and stains handkerchiefs that's the annoying bit. Although it got me into the unbreakable habit of always having a handkerchief under my bed pillow, and always carrying two handkerchiefs when I leave the house.
 
@DCUKMod Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I did try to include some positives from the day.
We have likewise found shockingly bad building work/repairs. The stone spiral stairs were held up by a mix of worm-eaten beams and rubble, with fertiliser bags stuffed into the remaining gaps. As you can imagine this required some major repairs. The degraded lime mortar came from an unrestored patch. But it still looked very scary, as there were a few large pieces of rubble being apparently held up by a plastic wiring conduit.
All secured now. Just need a a coat of paint once the mortar is set.
Boat stories always interest me. Your wet feet experience must have been very frightening at the time. We have owned two boats and plan to go back to canals again. But then we also planned to return to India and now i cant see that happening.

Oh the wet feet moment was a bit "special" I can tell you. The pair of us were taking turn manning the manual bilge pump and baling out with buckets, totally starkers! Were we ever glad when we could let the electric pumps do their thing unassisted.

Engine failure, about 20km offshore, in the middle of the night, in shipping lanes, between St Martin and Antigua? That was another special hour or two - dirty fuel that time), and another time me getting so tired I was hallucinating a car park in the middle of the Caribbean, in the middle of the night. That had been one rough, rough, stormy passage.

You know what they say? If it doesn't kill us, we survive to bore everyone with the tales.

FBG: 4.0 slept well. I did take detailed measurements today. See,s like cooking oats on the stove produces less of a 1 hour high then zapping them, but the two hour rise is just the same at about 0.6 rise after 2 hours. Also figured out that chickpeas "clog" me up, well that helps figure out whats been happening lately, so no more humus or falafel for me.

Breakfast: 50g rolled oats, 100g fat free natural yoghurt (less protein then previous one, getting better readings from this one), 20g peanut butter, 70g blueberries. 5 coffees, two of them white.

Lunch: 61g sprouted sough dough, 49g re-fried pinto beans, 17g reduced fat cheese, 8g butter, 118g raw tomato, mustard. Readings were mucked up for lunch, went for a walk before taking fasting measurement and that was higher, and a bit of physical activity before 1 and 2 hour readings probably affected them. Plan to test same lunch tomorrow.

Dinner: 3 large eggs, 2 white corn tortilla, 10g salsa, 170g fresh broccoli, 2g butter, 17g reduced fat cheese.
 
@ianpspurs - my mind immediately said Fredo but, since he was bumped off in the middle of a lake....although Don Alfredo Pollo Bianchi has a bit of a ring to it? I never even noticed it was all the "C" yesterday. @DJC3 - yes we are on the same week now having added in what I dubbed Week 3.5 last week. I have the same issue with OH but I work around it. Yesterday he just didn't fancy Don Alfredo so I had a1/4 deli chicken for him that avoided any additional cooking. Today I have salmon but Hubby is making broth as the boys decreed they were so cold yesterday they needed broth after school. So Hubby will have broth too. Tomorrow I'm doing chicken stir fry for him. Thursday/Friday he'll have the same as me. @SlimLizzy - I'm still enjoying your renovation tales. Having lived through numerous fixer upper houses growing up I can so relate to it. @DCUKMod is correct - you can eventually look back on it with a smile.
Glad to report after no loss on Week 3, Week 3.5 shed another 1 lb. 6 lbs over the 4 weeks I'm very happy with as a long term Keto being.
Today I'm still on their recommendations. Bed 6 FBG 7.1. My legs are still iffy which is disturbing my sleep so I'm not too bothered about the higher readings.

I managed to get a couple of pots of the Skyr Isey with the baked apple in M&S. Son is correct, easily 4 portions per pot so just over 5g carbs per 100g I may have some later. Their Strawberry and blueberry versions are higher carbs but the vanilla and the baked apple version are ideal.

I wouldn't be so crass as to ask if you had to kiss the Godfather's ring - no, not I Used to play centre forward so open goal's are very hard to resist. Yes, yes, I'm far too gentle a soul and more suited to ballet but there it is.

Well today my intake is as follows:
Usual slice LL toast, butter, tea x2.
Lunch was a rushed affair and was mug of soup.
Came back later and had coffee and small bar TTD 85% chocolate.
Supper will be a Prawn stirfry. Not sure if afters will be required. Having a real crush on Stilton cheese lately but it has to be the good stuff from W.

Bought a cauli today, blitzed it, leaves and all and made up flat bags for freezer and for future curries. I dont have the special steam bags yet @maglil suggested so used sandwich bags and will try microwaving with some slits on a plate. @SlimLizzy thanks for the pan frying method but sometimes I dont want to wash that extra pan! Any suggestions for turning it into risotto ie. amount of stock and method. TIA.
 
Evening all.

Two meals today. Lunch was smoked salmon and whipped creamy cheese. Dinner was air fried lamb ribs. Got just the right balance of melting fat and crispness. Favourite meal of the week so far. Now lamenting the fact that my freezer is a) small and b) full as the butcher near work is selling 3 kilos of said ribs for £19.99.
 
Evening everyone. Today I’ve come to the conclusion that I can happily manage 18:6 IF now I’ve started to enjoy black coffee, BUT I need to be very organised about lunch otherwise it all goes to pot and I over-graze.
So this morning black coffee x 2or 3
Went out with Dennis and was a lot longer than I expected, got home just before 2pm starving, hadn’t figured out lunch in advance. Grabbed an Individual portion of Stilton then finished off 1/2 a bowl of chicken no noodle soup while waiting for airfryer to cook some chicken drumsticks and thighs ( needed using up) I ate a few of these, about 4. This was not the DD planned lunch and I’m cross with myself

3 x 30 gms some kind of game sausage - part of freezer clearing - around 11.00 am 0.5 gms carb the lot according to label; halloumi fingers, gammon and portaloo mushrooms this evening. Mushrooms cooked in butter, halloumi brushed with MCT. Tea with inulin at 5.40a.m ish, more tea later and some kind of coffee around 2.00 pm. Lots of trips to the recycling centre including wrestling a hot tub into Julie's car and disposing of some fireworks and an air gun. Dug up the commemorative roses ready for their new home. Dirty, wet and as happy as a pig in poo that I can still manage such things. No idea of how food and testing will go for next few days. Who dat naglil?

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Late Lunch: left over Mediterranean veggies with melted strong cheddar followed by Greek yoghurt, coconut chia pudding and macadamia and coconut keto granola.
Mid afternoon: black coffee.
Dinner: salmon fillets with creamy peppercorn sauce, cauliflower and broccoli followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.
