Hug for Mr Slim and yourself with the injuries and obstacles such as supplier closures. Our programme is quite small scale but much as I may be prepared live in exile other folks' kitchens, showers, baths etc really is a step too far. They have to go asap. Take care of yourself and Mr Slim.14-03-2020
Overslept and high FBG waited 30 mins retest going down.
Breakfast nut granola and 2x CWC
Lunch pâté and 1 slice of toast. Salad, CWC
Dinner chicken, fried leeks and cabbage, few slices of carrot. Cauliflower and broccoli. Glass of wine.
Later MrSlim had cheese and biscuits. Stole a tiny piece of Comté. Had sugar free tonic to drink.
MrSlim got up feeling fine today, so out into the garden to plant his new trees and fruit bushes. Bit too much too soon. Set himself back a few days . Ofc he carried on as if nothing was wrong, but he did finish a little earlier tonight.
Progress today, between us, one coat of coloured paint all over bedroom1 (the largest) and the small bedroom. Also final coat all over the upstairs landing.
I put in some more seeds. Worked a bit more on the second vegetable bed and did a small amount of stealth landscaping.
In the news today, France is taking action to curtail coronavirus ( sorry @SaskiaKC ) It seems many french people have ignored previous guidelines and now stronger measures are needed. I have noticed this myself. Madame who brings the post insists on shaking my hand , then my neighbour over the road gets a kiss on both cheeks. She could start an epedemic by herself.
Many businesses will be forced to close along with the schools. The overall message is stay at home.
MrSlim is concerned that the Builders merchants will be among them. I have been unable to find any timescale for these closures. He has a list of things needed to connect the bathroom. Which I am getting desperate to see progress. However it will be a week or more before he starts on that. First there a final coat of paint in the two bedrooms, (tomorrow) then he is putting a roof window in the other bathroom ( on monday) and the floors need cleaning, sanding, staining and varnishing. This schedule seems a little ambitious to me, watching him struggle to get up of the sofa.
Hope he feels better tomorrow.
@ianpspurs returning the sympathy. You have a huge programme of works there.
Thank you.Congratulations on the half century which, from your posts, sounds as though it has been a great decision. Do you miss anything about GB?
Breakfast: Usual cheese and mushroom omelette, bacon, tomatoes, spudlite.
Lunch: XXXX Gold beer and savoury snacks at the club.
Dinner: Goat chops, veggies, pan juice gravy.
Drinks: Black coffee no sugars, beer, water.
Today the 15th March is our fiftieth anniversary of our arrival in Australia at Freo in WA on the Fairstar, my partner and I were only nodding acquaintances then though.
Probably go out to lunch / dinner somewhere today dunno yet.
I was interested to read your post about arriving in Australia on the Fairstar 50 years ago. My husband and I left from Sydney on her sister ship, the Fairsea, just over 54 years ago. I think the ~Fairsea was destroyed by fire some years later. Not a great ship, but she got us home in November 1965.
In 1969 while west of Panama, a fire broke out on the Fairsea, completely damaging the engine room. The decision was made that it was not economical to repair a ship that was already 28 years old and so on 9 July 1969, the Fairsea left Balboa bound for the shipbreakers at La Spezia, Ital
Not totally but I'm getting there. It's been an odd one.15-03-2020

Dinner Christmas duck, celariac and potatoes mashed together. Probably 60/40
Cauliflower and a token piece of brocolli. Carrots. Glass of wine. Later 2 hunks of cheese. Another glass of wine.

Today we finished painting the two bedrooms. Then we raked out the floorboards. Very pleased to be moving on from painting - don't think my elbows would take a lot more decorating. Stage one of renovating the floors. Tomorrow they need vacuuming then woodworm treatment. Once they are dry, sanding, staining, more sanding and then varnishing. At least two coats. While the floors dry MrSlim plans to put in a roof window.
Also managed to dig over a small amount of vegetable patch. About 6 foot by foot the soil here is heavy clay. That was all I could manage in one go.
@maglil55 Here there is a very real possibility of B&Q equivalent shops being closed. Hope you are 're covered from your mystery bug.
Two meals today - not quite a sunrise to sunset fast because I woke up late but had 2 Oopsie rolls with 2 fried eggs for breakfast. Tea before and after that. And quite a lot since.
Dinner, after sunset, at about 8 pm was pan fried duck breast with shredded Brussels sprouts, chicory and bacon, all fried off in the duck fat. Really tasty.
I should be going to see the dietician again tomorrow but I have this odd sort of cold - keeps coming and going. Coughing and sneezing every so often and chest a bit tight. I'll phone in the morning and see what the dietician thinks. It's definitely not the new nasty - haven't been in touch with anyone other than Neil and his brother.
I remember the Fairsea and Fairsky as well.

I really like the sound of your duck breast and sprouts dinner. I keep forgetting how versatile sprouts are.
More hugs for still feeling under the weather and hope the dietician visit will help.
