What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Evening all

My own version of the food fairy delivered today - literally. My boss despatched her husband to Sainsbury’s to bring me a few goodies. They were out of almond butter and ibuprofen but otherwise all good, and I had small quantities of those left anyway.

Been ravenous with this virus so brekkie of salted almonds. Lunch of extra thick double cream and almond butter and dinner of slow cooked lamb shoulder. Noticed just in time that the plastic bit over the bone was still on so enjoyed a plastic free meal! Delicious. A few squares of Lindt 90% rounded off the meal.

What an amazing boss. Hope your virus is soon on the mend. Take care - gooner or not we are now truly all in this together.

Bed 4.6 FBG 4.7. That is indeed a very nice boss @Goonergal. My day is also a day of praise for nice people and Sainsburys oddly enough. I was improving until today! I couldn't get a delivery from anywhere but I discovered Sainburys had brought in Click & Collect at my local store so I did that instead. I reckoned all I had to do was collect the order at midday then go home again. No such luck. Stopped at Morrisons en route to get the odd things Sainsburys didn't have. I thought I'd made a big mistake as the queues were enormous but luckily they were not using the self scan so I got through that. Headed off to Sainsburys (5 mins along the bypass) and once again my car developed the same problem as last year - lost all power, no steering, no brakes, nothing. Got onto the slip road and broke down in exactly the same place as it happened when my son was with me last year. Hazards on, out of the car and mobile out. A really nice couple on their way to IKEA stopped and helped me looking up the phone numbers I needed. They also went to Sainsburys to tell them I'd broken down but I would collect my shopping at some point. Not only that, the lady managed to get a portable folding chair out of Sainsburys for free and brought it back for me to sit on. She then sat with me, sent her Hubby off to IKEA and kept me company until the RAC arrived. She said she was actually happy not to be in IKEA. RAC were great again. Got me to Sainsburys, picked up shopping by which time we had the car going again but, since the RAC have the lengthy history on this car's issues they reckon it won"t be long before it happens again. Anyway, they followed me home, worked on the car for about another hour and their advice is get Motability to end the lease and get another car. So, it will get me about locally for a few days (I know the score with these issues), no swimming lessons tomorrow and Monday I'll put the wheels in motion for a change. Got back cold and very under the weather again. Appetite has gone.
B. TAG
L. Very late 2 slices skinny bread toasted with pate pate and yet another TAG.
D. Nothing - loads of water.
Otherwise, paracetamol, hot shower and Vics.

The best laid plans and all that.

Great to hear some positive stories amidst all the stockpiling. Hope you feel better soon.

Weird eating day! started off OK then descended into utter bad food carnage!
breakfast: h/m granola, one slice burgen and butter
lunch: lo dough wrap, with ham and tomato, one protein bar
tea: three olives, 1/2 small pack of doritos, cream cheese on peters yard chill flatbread, one loveraw buttercup
snacks: small choc chip cookie, mocha.
supper: second half of doritos, another slice of burgen with butter

all shops seem well stocked by us, but ocado is a nightmare with you know what....

What a heart warming outcome to that horrible incident. I really hope you start to feel better soon. I thoroughly enjoyed your grandsons’ comments on the selfish school parking. I’ve been doing school drop off and pick up for a couple of weeks too, it’s no fun, except for the conversations in the car to and from - often the best bits of my day.

@Goonergal your boss really is great. The lamb shoulder looks great - I’ve done the same thing with unexpected bits of plastic, and the absorbent bit of stuff underneath meat if it’s in a polystyrene tray - often sticks to the meat and I find it in the finished dish.
Today I had black coffee first thing. Went to Parkrun and had another coffee when I got back. I thought I deserved a bit of cream in it for a change but surprise surprise didn’t enjoy it as much as black coffee!!
Lunch: 3 rashers bacon, 2 fried eggs. 1 large strawberry dipped in melted 100% chocolate
Dinner: leftover portion of DD chicken caprese with salad. Then a Goonergal style mousse/pudding of 100% chocolate, almond butter and cream. Glass of red now.
@Annb I hope your leggy issues soon improve too.
@ianpspurs it sounds like the building work is progressing really quickly - hope you are soon ship shape.

What a great boss you have @Goonergal. She must think highly of you and be a really nice person. Hope you get well again soon.

Really heartening to hear that there still are some really nice people around. Of course, we all know they are there, but we don't see the evidence very often. Good for them, and good for you! Hope you soon recover from the horrid day and that you can get things sorted with your car asap.

FBG 6.5 and 11/2 hours later, after 2 cups of tea, it was 9.6. Had my dose of insulin and some more tea with some cold, thinly sliced beef (I thought I was getting ham out of the freezer, but it turned out to be roast beef). No t very filling so I had the last of the Port Salut - 3 very small slices. BG dropped to 8.6. Still hungry, but I hung on until a reasonable lunch time - 1.45 - by which time BG was 5.8.
Lunch - slices of cheddar with 2 digestive biscuits. I felt the need of something a bit more substantial than just salad, and I was very cold, so I had the biscuits and a cup of milky coffee. Forgot to measure BG but it was 7.4 4 hours later. Spent much of the afternoon folding washing - I had allowed the clean washing to pile up, waiting to be dealt with. Neil started it with the big things last night (about midnight) - he'd obviously got fed up with my laziness. So I had to do the rest today - it was mostly my clothes anyway. Big basket of bedding to send down to DIL for ironing.
Decided I must, at last, try making Oopsie rolls. Quite successful and a nice change. Made a sandwich with some more of the beef and some slices of tomato. Tasted great, but I'm still hungry and am trying not to scout around looking for something to fill the gap. There are quite a few Oopsie rolls left ...

They have a whole notebook full of suitable barbed comments and, as I said, the wee one is the expert. Full volume from him and he doesn't hold back. His favourite is "What kind of idiot would leave their car THERE". You're right about the morning journeys though - interesting chats. The nice lady that stayed with me today is a Primary School teacher and she was telling me they're all trying to get as close as possible to the holidays but they are also setting up virtual classrooms and they have a Maths app ready to go so the kids can do their lessons at home if the school have to close early. No 1 grandson is seriously disappointed that it won't be extra holidays if it happens.

Didn’t post yesterday, had a stressful afternoon and evening helping my student daughter escape Spain before she was trapped there. Long story short she’s safely back home now thank goodness :)
All that was whilst driving 250 odd miles to my brother’s (and stopping frequently to field her phone calls and messages)

So yesterday:
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: 2 x Babybels Greek yoghurt, coffee chia pudding and LC chocolate granola
Mid afternoon at Costa with a fellow forumite: coconut cappuccino.
Dinner at my brothers, he did me proud! Pork chop with cabbage and a few carrots followed by SF jelly cream and LC chocolate granola. (I went with desserts!)

Today:
Breakfast: greek yoghurt with strawberries and keto macadamia and coconut granola with black coffee.
Lunch: ham and cheese with leafy salad and cashews followed by another SF jelly with LC chocolate granola (I had bought some Oppo cheesecakes for this trip but managed to leave them at home :(, luckily I took plenty of SF jellies!)
Mid afternoon: black coffee with salted caramel phd bar.
Dinner: roast chicken, kale and carrots with a tiny drop of gravy followed by, yes you’ve guessed it SF jelly, with almond and berry paleo granola.

Breakfast: Usual cheese and mushroom omelette, bacon, tomatoes, spudlite.
Lunch: XXXX Gold beer and savoury snacks at the club.
Dinner: Goat chops, veggies, pan juice gravy.

Drinks: Black coffee no sugars, beer, water.

Today the 15th March is our fiftieth anniversary of our arrival in Australia at Freo in WA on the Fairstar, my partner and I were only nodding acquaintances then though.

Probably go out to lunch / dinner somewhere today dunno yet.

I bet there will be a lot of disappointed children around if a lockdown happens. It’s so reassuring to hear of contingency plans for emergencies though - they must be happening in all professions I should think. A lot of work for those involved, and a lot we’ll never hear about.

Glad your brother has done you proud with the LC food. It can be hard for people to understand to begin with can’t it? But he obviously is keen to get it right for you.

Happy Anniversary! Hope you have a good lunch / dinner.
My partner and I did not get together till later in the year after a chance meeting in a MacDonnell and East's car park in Brisbane.

Overslept and high FBG waited 30 mins retest going down.
Breakfast nut granola and 2x CWC
Lunch pâté and 1 slice of toast. Salad, CWC
Dinner chicken, fried leeks and cabbage, few slices of carrot. Cauliflower and broccoli. Glass of wine.
Later MrSlim had cheese and biscuits. Stole a tiny piece of Comté. Had sugar free tonic to drink.
MrSlim got up feeling fine today, so out into the garden to plant his new trees and fruit bushes. Bit too much too soon. Set himself back a few days . Ofc he carried on as if nothing was wrong, but he did finish a little earlier tonight.
Progress today, between us, one coat of coloured paint all over bedroom1 (the largest) and the small bedroom. Also final coat all over the upstairs landing.
I put in some more seeds. Worked a bit more on the second vegetable bed and did a small amount of stealth landscaping.

In the news today, France is taking action to curtail coronavirus ( sorry @SaskiaKC ) It seems many french people have ignored previous guidelines and now stronger measures are needed. I have noticed this myself. Madame who brings the post insists on shaking my hand , then my neighbour over the road gets a kiss on both cheeks. She could start an epedemic by herself.
Many businesses will be forced to close along with the schools. The overall message is stay at home.
MrSlim is concerned that the Builders merchants will be among them. I have been unable to find any timescale for these closures. He has a list of things needed to connect the bathroom. Which I am getting desperate to see progress. However it will be a week or more before he starts on that. First there a final coat of paint in the two bedrooms, (tomorrow) then he is putting a roof window in the other bathroom ( on monday) and the floors need cleaning, sanding, staining and varnishing. This schedule seems a little ambitious to me, watching him struggle to get up of the sofa:(.
Hope he feels better tomorrow.

@ianpspurs returning the sympathy. You have a huge programme of works there.

Congratulations on the half century which, from your posts, sounds as though it has been a great decision. Do you miss anything about GB?
