What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

My personal experience is if you are in range, they can get really dogmatic.

Before blood tests were so developed doctors used to be guided by what information that had, but also how the patient felt.

Unless you are on mahoosive doses, an extra 25mcgr or even 12.5 if they won't go 25 isn't likely to cause issues. I mean if you start with palpitations or become agitated you can always pare back again.

Anyway, that's just my 2p worth.

I'm on 100Mcgm daily at present. Sounds like a lot but it really isn't. I'll get a chance to talk to the GP asap.

D- Sausage boats, I think this was originally @Antje77 ‘s brainchild. Split length ways and filled with cream cheese and topped with parmesan then airfried
I completely forgot about the sausage boats, they're brilliant!

I had the dinner planned for yesterday (green beans, dark brown black bean paste, mushrooms, a little bell pepper, with marinated pork belly pieces and a fried duck egg).
Again, no picture, it still looks very unappetising even on a pretty plate and such a delicious meal doesn't deserve attracting attention for its bad looks.

Ann, there is a formula to help professionals guestimate eventual doses for patients, bearing in mind the titration processs that we have to go through. The formula is 1.6mcgr per kilo of body weight, but of course, being humans, requirement can vary quite significantly.

In terms of your "quite a lot", I raise you 125mcgr Levothyroxine, plus 50mcgr of Liothyronine (T3) per day, which is what I take. Each mcgr of T3 is, by rule of thumb, equivalent to 4mcgr T4.

On that basis, what I take as a woman of just a shade under 50kg the equivalent of 325mcgr Levothyroxine. Based on weight, I'd come out at 80mcgr.

Thyoid meds are a bit like insulin doses; we need what we need.

if your numbers are a bit low, a little tweak could just help you along.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a phd bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Dinner: egg mayo and cucumber on a low carb roll.

Monday 4 September - bed 7.3 FBG 7.6 Back to my energetic Aqua class this morning. A bit of a chaotic day. Busy all morning, then in the middle of eldest's lunch, I got an urgent call from DIL. Younger grandson had a nasty fall at school, which resulted in a head wound bleeding profusely. He required collecting and assessing whether any further treatment was needed.

B. TAG and LC granola with sugar-free coconut milk and raspberries. Benecol dairy free.

L. A cheese triangle

D. Ended up with leftover cold cuts and the remaining celeriac dauphinois. Roast pork, roast beef, ox tongue, ham, German sausage, veggie salad. CC Little chocolate pot and blackberries.

Glad to say it's a deep cut but no longer bleeding and no other ill effects. A fair bit blood to be removed from a white school shirt. No swimming for him either.

Tuesday 5 September - bed 6.6 FBG 7.3 Youngest back at school but taking care. Back on a normal routine today.

B. TAG and LC granola with sugar-free coconut milk and blackberries. Benecol dairy free.

L. Another cheese triangle.

D. Cajun chicken with salad. CC Little chocolate pot with raspberries.

Glorious day today. Excellent results @Annb .

Found some thinnish slices of belly pork in the freezer which was intended to stand in for bacon so that and a fried egg will be breakfast today.

Also found a carton labelled "lamb stew". It's defrosting at the moment so that will be today's 2nd meal.

PS Didn't find any beans at all in the chicken and bean dish that I found in the freezer and had yesterday evening. A few peas, but it was mostly gravy and chicken.

@DJC3 thank you for the butter mayonnaise recipe I made some today to have with our fish very easy to do and love it - it's a bit like a butter sauce delicious

Some left over in fridge too for other meals
Breakfast one slice of bacon, egg and some fried home grown tomatoes
Lunch lc lemon cake with a few garden berries and yoghurt
Dinner sea bass with lemon ( got distracted unfortunately so cooked about 5 mins too long!) The butter mayonnaise though stopped it being too dry. Green beans and broccoli and glass of soda water with splash of dry white wine. Decaffeinated coffee with one square of 90% chocolate.

Black Coffee and water until lunchtime then mince fried in butter with a fried egg.
Too hot to take Dennis out this aft so I left him in the cool house and went to the beach for a swim. Children are back to school today so it wasn’t too crowded.
Dinner was h/m burger topped with a thick slice of cheddar and more of the butter mayo. I’m so glad you liked it @shelley262 , I bet it was great with the fish, it’s similar to a hollandaise sauce I guess.
H/m yoghurt to follow.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a phd bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa.
Dinner: gammon slow cooked in sugar free apple Tango with a fried egg, cauliflower, broccoli and Brussels.

Breakfast didn't happen, but a packet of pork scratchings and a G&T was welcome at noon.

Had 150g of baked salmon in the fridge that needed eating, so I whizzed it with 100g of cream cheese, and a good tablespoon of mayo, salt and pepper to season. I called it a 'salmon mousse' (?). It was shared between my husband and myself, it wasn't too bad either, served with a salad.

24g of 90% Lindt dark chocolate.

Forgot: had 80g of boiled ham in the afternoon.

Today:

My husband listened to the forecast and decided we would have 'gazpacho' weather today. (My better half seems to enjoy preparing gazpacho as long as we don't press him to make it too often). With English tomatoes at their best now, it sounded like an excellent plan. With another scorcher in prospect here, I made ceviche for lunch to avoid unwanted heat in my kitchen.

B: Two poached eggs topped with butter, slices of avocado, seasoned with black pepper and a wedge of Gorwydd Caerphilly.
Water to swallow tablets
Espresso.

L: Appetiser: gazpacho
Ceviche
made with lemon sole fillets cured with lemon juice, zest and Welsh onions, then combined with tomatoes, Padrón chillies, cucumber, Kalamata and Halkidiki olives, chopped coriander and olive oil.
Salad using chicory, cherry toms, radishes, Romano peppers and Welsh onions, dressed with an olive oil, oregano, garlic and balsamic vinaigrette and topped with toasted almonds.
Water to drink.
Skipped pud.

D: Seafood salad made with king prawns, mussels, lettuce, sweet cicely, cherry toms, celery and salad onions dressed with home-made aioli for dipping and topped with toasted sunflower and pumpkin seeds.
Water to swallow tablets.

Hello everyone, I've been away on a brilliant holiday, island hopping by boat. All catered and with a free bar open from 11 am to 10 pm it was all very tempting.

B: each day was full buffet of fruits, cereals, cold meats, at least 4 bread/pastry options and hot eggs, bacon etc. I kept to seeds I'd taken with me and yoghurt, followed by eggs and occasionally the bacon.
L: was a main dish no choice so if it was too carby I got a cheese salad instead.
D: was mainly a fish or a meat with veg. I skipped dessert and had a little cheese instead, however it was the same cheese everyday for the entire week.

My downfall was the alcohol. I went from one wine spritzer a night to 3 and often followed it with a brandy or 2. Had one cocktail on the last afternoon.
And then there were ice cream shops everywhere, so probably had 4 or 5 over the week.
There was also a biscuit barrel by the tea/coffee so I had too many of those too often.

I took with me a packet of milled seeds, a packet of almonds, a packet of protein crackers, 4 nut bars and 1 bar 85% chocolate. The almonds and chocolate came in handy when everyone else was enjoying dessert and I was bored with my cheese. And the crackers went well with sliced meats and cheese from the breakfast for the return journey and inevitable airport delays.

Thought I'd done OK, but have come back 3 lbs heavier.
Did the occasional finger prick, 6s and 7s.

You had a good time. That's the important thing. Glad that it sounded so good - apart from the repeated cheese offerings. Sure you'll get rid of those 3lbs now that you are home.

Wednesday 6 September - bed 6.4 FBG 6.5. Where's the sun gone? Woke up to mist this morning. Boys were here for dinner, and I wasted a lot of time trying to trace 2 Amazon parcels that had been "handed to resident" when they had not! Long story short, he'd dumped them outside the door of a totally different resident who was on holiday. We'd still be without them had it not been fir an Eagle eyed Evri courier who was delivering to other address and spotted the parcels, realised they belonged to us, and brought them to our property. Amazon had already scheduled a refund, and although I informed them how the parcels had been found, they informed me I was to keep the refund by way of apology.

B. TAG and LC granola with sugar-free coconut milk and raspberries. Benecol dairy free.

L. A sandwich with SRSLY bread, Benecol spread and lovely rare roast lamb from the butcher's.

D. 3 GF beef olives with carrot, broccoli, and gravy. CC Little chocolate pot with raspberries.

@MrsA2, if I'm 3lbs or less up on return from holiday, I'd call it a result.
especially after socialising with former work colleagues/husbands/wives!
