Back to the school runs again. Youngest is settling in his new class. Did I say he was being bullied again? He was in a composite P6/P7 Class, and it was the older P7's doing the bullying. His older brother said that they'll be in for a shock when they transition to senior school next year. Bullying will be right off their agenda.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with ox tongue and coleslaw. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing - after school runs, I was straight to Aqua with my heavy weights!

D. Leftover cold cuts. Same as Saturday (no stealing chips, though) and my little chocolate pot is back with 4 raspberries.

@MrsA2 hug for plans being fluid. @maglil55 hug for the bullying and @Annb hug for Alistair being stretched so thin.
2 sleeps to Santa so visiting graves and relatives day “back home.” Lesson from yesterday learned so I ate what I often wouldn’t - sausages. We particularly wanted King Edward potatoes and kalettes so ended up in Waitrose but still no Kalettes. Flowers laid, aunts visited then back here for Ocado delivery - nice flash sales and delivery 20 mins early. Not ratty today but having been “home” probably more important than eating.
Tea and babybel
Cold sausage - for cals - nutrition can wait
CWC, KC MS Roll with cold sausage, squirt of virtue signalling Tommy K and an Adonis bar - after the roll. Crab and avocado pot (½ price) Fillet steak (194 gms) double reduction, mushrooms, vine tomatoes, salad leaves, Waitrose #1 Kaltbach Gruyer and 2 pickled cherries 1 gm carb each if label and scales correct - new to us but part of our cheese hamper , multi vit, water - room for an aspirational rum later

Friday 15 December - bed 8.2 FBG 7.9. Half day Friday.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast, one with cheese and onion, the other with Philly. Benecol dairy free.

L. A bit of crustless quiche.

D. A repeat of the ostrich burger meal. Identical. CC little chocolate pot.

I didn't have much time to think about food as, to my horror, Boots had cancelled my order on me for the contents of the empty box on December 8. By the time the Boots manager managed to get through to them, their HO had closed. I may have to do some relaxation exercises before I go after them tomorrow. All the email said was Order cancelled! No explanation.

Saturday 16 December - bed 7.8 FBG 6.8. Maybe stress is good for me?

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with Philly.

L. Nothing usual run a round for shopping.

D. Cold cuts. Deli roast pork, ham, pork and egg, roast beef, coleslaw, veggie salad. CC little chocolate pot.

In the midst of all this, I had a real go at Boots HO. Amazingly, they said they cancelled the order because it was "an expensive item, and they needed store approval." I managed to calmly point out it was a Boots store manager that spoke to them on 8 December when they sent me an empty box! It was that manager who arranged the reorder. How much more approval do you need??? It went on for a bit until I suggested she get a manager. Upshot was they reordered again. Meantime the other non dispatched item is showing no progress, and they are on 12 working days to answer emails. I thought ordering at the start of November was plenty time.

Snap! That is my plan for tomorrow. Made some mince pies today, hm mince meat with lupin/almond pastry, so they should be a nice treat with the hm Baileys. Seriously bad service from Boots, seems they have their brains have shut down for the month.

Sorry for you, @MrsA2, that you have very stressful happenings marring your Christmas. As I said before, always worse in December. My Uncle passed away at the beginning of last week, although, of course, I'm very sad, I keep thinking of my poor aunt, cousins & their kids, so much for celebrating.

Dinner was pork shoulder chop with cavolo nero & creamed leeks followed by a mince pie & dollop of cream.

Sunday 17 December - bed 8.4 (hardly surprising) FBG 7.9

The saga of missing gifts continues. The many customers of The Oodie, awaiting orders from October/November, were told this morning that we won't all get our goods by Christmas. We can request a refund ( but by 8pm tonight). We can also wait and see if we get our goods. If not, it will be mid-January. They're not answering calls, and it's 14 days to get an answer to an email.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast. One with cheese and onion, the other with coronation chicken. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing. Last swimming lesson of the year.

D. Chicken breast with soy, ginger, and Skinny Food Co "honey." Cauliflower fried rice. Campari and soda. CC little chocolate pot with raspberries.

Monday 18 December bed 6.2 FBG 7.6. Last week before the holidays.

B. Just TAG. School runs, then straight to Aqua. All tinsel and Christmas songs today. After Aqua rushed to get another gift to replace the non despatched Oodie.

L. 2 slices of SRSLY toast with cheese and onion and coronation chicken. Benecol dairy free.

D. Leftover cold cuts. Deli roast pork, pork and egg, ham, roast beef, coleslaw, veggie salad, ox tongue. CC little chocolate pot with raspberries. Gin and soda.

Homework with eldest grandson, too!

Tuesday 19 December - bed & FBG Both 7.9.

A peaceful day. All gift shopping completed apart from missing items. I did cause some hilarity in Next. I ordered Chelsea boots for the eldest grandson size 6.5. A slight error. They were little person's 6.5. Thankfully, they had his big 6.5!

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast. One with cheese and onion, the other with coronation chicken. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing.

D. Gammon steak with caramelised onion and a cheesy top. Cauliflower fried rice. CC little chocolate pot.

Wednesday 20 December - bed 7.4 FBG 7.5

Having bought another gift, the Oodie order arrived today. Safe to say, I won't buy from them again.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast. I'm still on one with cheese and onion, the other with coronation chicken. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. Boys were here and youngest had his fun night at the swimming club. It was a bit of rushing about again with a quick evening trip to the Fort to pick up odd things I can't get on my food delivery order on Saturday. When I got back, I couldn't face cooking so I munched M&S dinky chicken sausages with a mug of black tea. CC little chocolate pot.

The local store is fine. It's HO that's the issue. The service from the Oodie has been awful. I've not made my LC mince pies yet. It might be Boxing Day!

Re the low carb Baileys,
Lovely hubby has just given me a bottle of Baileys Light. No ingredients shown but apparently 13g per 100ml so a suggested 50ml serving is 6g carbs, still a bit high imho.
I won't try any tonight as sugars still too high from earlier. Will post results when I do get round to trying it..just for you all of course. ;)

Ooh, I didn't know there was a light version, definitely need a review of that, please. It is a tad high in carbs but for high days & holidays, ok if it tastes good. I actually have 2 1/2 bottles of the real stuff here, must give them to my sis. I can't believe I haven't touched a drop of it, considering my nickname was Bailey queen!!

I won't tell you then that I find a teaspoon or 2 of the real stuff is just enough to satisfy my craving for a taste, especially if in a lc hot chocolate or over a very small lowish carb ice cream. Any more and I'd spike but a tiny bit is OK, for me. Only you know how much you can trust yourself

Thursday 21 December - bed 7.7 FBG 6.1.

Youngest grandson was very subdued this morning. It turned out at the "fun" night at the swimming club, some of the other kids were being mean to him and not letting him finish even one Aqua run on the inflatable course. Coaches didn't spot it as they were in the pool. His Mum spoke to them though. I told him the best way to deal with it is to beat them at the time trials. It's the last thing we need after the bullying at school.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with cheese and onion. Benecol dairy free.

L. A bit of crustless quiche

D. Prawns with Marie Rose, mozzarella, tomatoes, and avocado. Gin and soda.

Boots called to say my order had arrived, so another trip and all gifts complete at least.

Friday 22 December - bed 7.6 FBG 7.9 Half day Friday, shortest day and holidays start. All gifts here and wrapped so I told son he'd have to go shopping this afternoon while I nipped to the butcher to get butchered turkey legs for stock making tomorrow. The rest of the time I'd spend cleaning.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with pate. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing - best laid plans! Eldest had gone off with friends after school ended. About an hour later he called me to say he'd fallen off his friends bike and could he come to ours to get cleaned up. I ended up having to go looking for him as he was injured. Knee up like a balloon, injured wrist/hand, bleeding nose, various cuts/scratches. I worked out where he was but they were off road so I directed them to the nearest road. I cleaned up his nose then got him home to Mum. Got son to Tesco, I got to butchers, then Mum called to say GP wanted him to go to A&E to get wrist and knee X Rayed. Guess where I ended up with son & grandson.

D. Much later, after return from A&E, Hubby had cooked me some chipolatas wrapped in bacon, which I had with a fried egg. Gin and soda.

The patient has a broken bone in his wrist which has been splinted. The knee they reckon it's blood. It's not broken. He's to get physio (just as well Mum is a physio), and the hospital will call her in a couple of weeks to see if the swelling has gone down. If not, it's MRI time.

I'm beginning to feel cursed.

Finally, today, Saturday 23 December - bed 7.8 FBG 7.2.

Sainsburys did well with my order. No broccoli (but I got that nearby) and only one weird substitute (which went back). I ordered cranberries, they sent me Mint Sauce & Redcurrant Jelly! I got cranberries nearby too.
Out early to the fish hut at the harbour to get monkfish for Monday & sole for Monday. Queue was still out the door. Fish is wrapped and in freezer now.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with deli roast pork. Benecol dairy free.

L. Nothing

D. Low carb pasta carbonara. CC little chocolate pot.

Patient is feeling better and complaining because gets unable to go out with his knee.

On a lighter note, I ordered little silicon feet with felt pads for my dining room chairs. I got 2 packs and thought, that's enough for the 10 chairs. It was only when they arrived today that it dawned on me. I'd only counted 2 legs per chair! I do know they have 4 each. My brain is mush.

I had 3 meals yesterday because I assumed that the idea of a Palestinian meal being brought to me was having to be set aside due to long hours of work for the posties.

2000: Watching something or other on TV (very important - I had been waiting several hours for it but now can't even remember what it was) I heard activity in the hallway and Em came in - followed by Mum and then Dad carrying a large box from which he unloaded the Palestinian meal he had cooked. Not just enough for me (which I would have kept for today) but for all of us. It was a chicken/quinoa/pomegranate/spice dish. Very tasty and I could have eaten more, but was wary of the carbs in quinoa. DIL did say what it was called but I couldn't get it. Not a dish I have ever heard of though. It was a kind thought even if I did eat more yesterday than I intended.

Nothing so far today except some tea and some pills.

Thanks, you're good, @MrsA2! I sadly wouldn't have the control to just have that amount, so best for me to ignore the 1/2 bottle in my fridge. I did have 'some+' last year & just looked, my average BFG was 7, not bad actually, but as I'm solo, I'll stick to the stand in or it would be too easy, agree with Maglil55 on that, one is never enough.

@maglil55, sorry to read your grandsons both had a hard time & that you ended up being nurse & ambulance driver. Hope the wounds & pain heals on your eldest & the youngest really shows up the bullies by beating them in a far better way. Did laugh at your feet under count though. Hope you enjoy a better day & the HM Baileys!

Nice that you finally had your Palestinian meal, @Annb, even better that you had company in which to enjoy it & it was very tasty to boot.

Merry Christmas to all on the forum, will raise a glass to you later, once I've made it.

Oh & I'm still deciding on dinner, a prawn cocktail is winning so far, then I'll have the sauce made for tomorrow.

Breakfast: Bacon sandwich on wholemeal bread. I'd bought back bacon for Em as that is her preference but after I bought it she was not here for long enough to cook bacon for her and it had to be used. Ages since I had back bacon and it was really good. Plenty of butter on the bread.

2nd meal will be beef sausages with cabbage.

Going into the butcher's shop myself on Thursday made me realise how much the price of meat has gone up in the last while. Even the sausages were expensive and the steak ...!!! I found last week that the pack of pork sausage meat was about 2/3 of the price of the same meat made into links, so that's what I bought. I hoped to do the same with the beef sausages, but they didn't have any beef sausage meat (Lorne sausage was as expensive as the links). I did get some more pork sausage meat but have put that into the freezer for another time.

Despite the quinoa last evening, BG stayed around the 8 mark until about 0800 today, when it went up to 10.6 on the strength of one cup of tea.

Neil is struggling a bit with food right now. His soya beans didn't get here due to mail hold-ups (local shops don't sell them) and there was no soya milk in the shops, nor was there any soda water, which is his main drink to help control his Crohn's. He only has a little soda water left and no soya milk at all. He doesn't drink tea or coffee any more because they put his BP up too high so it looks like water and try not to exacerbate his Crohn's. Bread and water for Christmas dinner! He does have a supply of soya marg to put on the bread, at least and does still have some Lactofree cheese as well, but can only have a limited amount of that to avoid triggering a flare up. Just as well I have a couple of tins of mackerel in brine in the cupboard, which is what he uses to get flare-ups under control.
