What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Wow- you lucky thing! Every canteen I've ever eaten in served beige food with chips.
They have to serve decent food. Nearby there's a McDonald, then a mall with Burger King, if one like fast food. Then another self service, a decent pizzeria and a couple of bar.
There are several restaurants nearby.

The beige soup canteens normally are in zones without other places that are serving food.

While I am at, for supper
Big salad with tomatoes and pepper
Cauliflower and carrots with goat cheese
Apple and small kiwi

For breakfast I have just had two slices of toast with Vegimite on it.

Then for "afters" this lot washed down with a another cup of black coffee.

The Fat Head pizza yesterday was a real success - I will definitely be having it again - and quite easy to make.

Today:

Breakfast: Chipolatas, bacon, eggs
Lunch: Nothing
Dinner: The cheese, ham and egg salad I should have had yesterday.

B Scrambled eggs on half Lidl roll toasted & buttered
L Other half of Lidl roll with cheese, followed by Tesco "summer fruits" mixture with yoghurt & double cream. Unexpected spike -- must have been the red & black currants
D Home-made leek, bacon & mushroom flan with cheese topping & green veg. Scrummy

Tuesday
breakfast - porridge
lunch - homemade veg and tomato soup
dinner - smoked sausage and cabbage braised with garlic, onion, red pepper and mushrooms and finished with some butter and black pepper.

Hello
B. Red berries with Greek yoghurt

L. 1/2 slice of ham piece of Harrogate blue
40 minutes swimming

D. Smoked haddock salad with coriander. 6 strawberries and yoghurt
Watching Masterchef so I made need a pomegranate pot

Today:

Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs and Lidl protein roll soldiers
Lunch: A very naughty two fresh dates
Dinner: M&S Prawn Curry (tomato based) with cauliflower rice
Evening snack: Individual bag of Sun Bites popcorn (they are very little bags)

Call me stupid  but I have only just realised while shopping today that I can now have Brie !!

So guess what I had for lunch .... a bowl of things I love ....
Prawns, toms, cucumber, peppers, with mayo & peanut butter to dip & Brie .... so happy :)

Wednesday
breakfast - porridge
lunch - away from home - fry up with 2 thick slices of bacon, 2 medium eggs, mushrooms and 1 corner (just to taste) of Mr G's Lorne sausage. Very nice bacon and fresh farm eggs :)
dinner/supper - half a slice of Lidl roll cut into thin batons and eaten with some low fat Brussels pate.

B Fried tomato, bacon, mushrooms, half Lidl roll toasted & buttered, pancake (leftover egg mix from previous night's flan)
L Rest of leftover flan. Waste not want not.
D Nibbles at friend's house: two small crackers, lots of cheese, peanuts, piece of venison sausage on a stick, thumbnail size taste of home-made lemon cake, about a gallon of black coffee. My treacherous Libre now says 10.1 :( but my faithful Codefree says 6.6 :)

Breakfast: Lidl Roll with grated cheese and some baked beans - 2 hours later and my bs was only 0.2 higher

Lunch: Four fresh dates :banghead:

Dinner: Fat Head pizza (again) - this time with less salt and with home made pink/red coleslaw. I'm making three times the recipe because my husband loved the leftovers last time.

Snack: Red wine and/or Prosecco

I usually try not to have the same thing for dinner twice in one week but I was telling a friend about the pizza and she wants to try it so she's coming over. The reason for the pink/red coleslaw is that last time I had the pizza after two hours my BS had gone down by 1.3 so I'm hoping the coleslaw will keep my BS at least stable.

Oh @Chook - I LOVE dates too. Medjool ones. Scrummy.
Used to stone them and fill the gap with homemade marzipan every Xmas.

And I know that you are trying to resist... maybe this will help?
The thing that put me off them (please don't think that I am preaching) was the fact that they are two thirds sugar. Literally. For every 30g of date, I was eating 20g of sugar. Very sad. I only discovered this when I came across a Raw Vegan recipe for hot choc, where they used cocoa, cashew milk and dates instead of sugar.

Very depressing, but it managed to help me to curb my date passion...
A bit.

Hello
B. Red berries with yoghurt

L. Smoked haddock and salad. Strawberries with Greek yoghurt.

D. Leftover salad with Stilton .
I have a pomegranate pot for a snack. :)

Hello - just come back to the forum
B. My Portobello Egg Benedict (portobello mushroom with wilted spinach, slice of wafer thin ham, poached egg and a tablespoon of hollandaise mixed with 0% yogurt
L. Half avocado with prawns, boiled beetroot and 2 tablespoons of Tesco tuna crunch.
D. Leftovers from last night. 2 lamb chops I'd marinated in a mix of tandoori paste and yoghurt with curried roasted cauliflower slices and spinach.
Snacks were walnuts and a less sugar latte

@Brunneria LOL - I'm not sure that anything would put me off dates. :arghh: At least these ones are fresh and haven't got the added sugar that the dried ones have. Mr. C finished off the medjool dates the other day, felt guilty that he'd not properly 'shared' them and went and found me these fresh ones. Bless. They haven't actually had as bad an impact on my BS as I thought they might probably because I had the Fat Head pizza for dinner.
