A bit better today - bed on 6.7 and FBG 8.5. OK it is still high but a heck of a lot better than 9.8. Had breakfast so hopefully it starts to fall now.
B. 2 scrambled eggs with parsley and a dash of cream, 2 rashers crispy streaky bacon, 3 cherry tomatoes and 3 button mushrooms.
L. Will be nothing - it's Sunday
D. Making a Diet Doctor pizza to have half as a starter. Will have the rest tomorrow. Joining you @Chook - lamb today. Got lamb racks which have a lovely flavour. Veg will be green beans, asparagus with hollandaise, aubergine and cauliflower. The rest of them have normal pizza to start and roast potatoes with the lamb. If I want dessert it will be sugar free jelly and berries. Rest have got apple pie and ice cream. I tasted a bit of the ice cream on the tip of a teaspoon and found it was way too sweet for me.
Usual campari and soda and prosecco maybe.

Still battling morning highs

@Ultramum - did the 3am omelette stop the rise?

Yes and no - previously I've had a continuing rise but didn't yesterday HOWEVER this morning I got up with a slightly higher reading at 6.45 am BUT my pre-lunch has dropped to a lower point than it did all day yesterday

I find I tend to get slightly peckish and have something to eat mid morning so perhaps it never gets the chance to drop again due to the extra food.

Still experimenting:)

So far I discovered my nightly walnuts didn't stop it not did a coffee with cream pre breakfast. My goto breakfast of scrambled eggs and bacon does reverse the trend. Without food there is usually a fair rise between FBG and pre breakfast. I know my next alternative should be to get up even earlier and have breakfast before I go off on the school run. Trouble is I like relaxing with my breakfast after the run is complete. I read somewhere that vinegar tablets can help although it sounds horrible.

I'm having two tsp of ACV [+mother] in a glass of water at bedtime - jury still out on it at the moment. I usually have half a Lidl roll slathered in butter with cheese or smoked salmon plus 1/2-1/3 avocado about half an hour before bedtime - the one night I didn't this week resulted in a higher FBG.

I'm going the route of 'early to bed - early to rise' at the moment on the basis of nipping my liver's shenanigans in the bud. Not easy as I have never been a morning person - will be a bit of a reprieve when the clocks go forward next week until my liver realises what has happened!

When I was newly diagnosed I read somewhere on the internet that morning BS rises due to liver dumps were more significant in people who are not morning people. Those who leap out of bed and feel bright and breezy all morning have less of a morning rise. (I'm talking morning rises, not overnight rises here - normalish FBG that rises as the morning progresses). If true, I can see the logic. People (like me) that have always taken an age to get going properly may have always needed extra help from our livers, whilst the bright and breezy won't have have needed as much. So becoming diabetic isn't necessarily the cause. More that this is what our bodies have always done naturally.

Breakfast - 3 egg omelette with onion and bacon

12,800 steps by 12.30, including 90 minutes of walking football

Lunch - cold lamb, 6 baby plum tomatoes, half an avocado, 10 raspberries and double cream

Dinner - chicken leg, roast veggies (courgette, onion, red pepper). Not eaten it yet as I had a senior moment - just went to take it out of the oven when the timer went, but discovered that having pre-heated the oven, I managed to turn it off after putting the food in! Now cooking....

I wish that was true for me @Bluetit1802 . I'm definitely a morning person, but been struggling with morning rises. Starting to make progress, but it's a slow process and I haven't yet found a failsafe way to deal with it.

Breakfast: Egg mayonnaise on half a Lidl Protein Roll.

Lunch: Retinal screening this morning so I've made two portions of the egg mayo which I will have either with salad or on the other half of the protein roll

Dinner: Chicken breast and aubergine with cauliflower rice

I cheated yesterday for the first time since starting low carb. :( Mr C made himself an apple crumble. It smelled amazing.... so I had a small amount with lots of double cream and two hours later my BG had gone up to 6.8 from 4.8 (which I was quite pleased with) then, by the time I went to bed, it was back down to 5.3. So I thought I'd got away with it. The nasty shock came this morning when my fasting BG was 7.8 (it was been in the high 5s and low 6s over the last week). Ah well, lesson learned.

Naughty @Chook console yourself with the fact that if I had surrendered to the apple pie I would have been 11 or 12 something this morning. Incidentally, meant to say I tasted the ice cream on the tip of a teaspoon yesterday and I actually found it way too sweet to the extent it would have sickened me. Seems my taste buds have changed.

I'm back to fairly normal BG now. I won't be making that mistake again.

Yes, I've noticed that my sense of taste has changed too. Things like GnT and 85% chocolate that are supposed to taste quite bitter are now tasting quite sweet and I can tolerate much hotter curries and chillies than I used to.

Mea culpa - i have sinned ;) and i don't regret it for a second!

B: bacon and eggs
Late L: pub lunch of beef casserole and salad and chips.
D: probably not needed

And i have to say that those chips were probably the best chips in the history of the world. Ever. Ever. EVER.
No way could i have stopped at 3, as per my original plan.

Half an avocado soon after rising to try and prevent pre-breakfast rise. Didn't work - went up to 8.1 from 7.1 (which is higher than my recent fasting levels due to spiky meal last night). Back down to 5.5 before dinner so hopefully back on track.

Breakfast - 2 boiled eggs

Lunch - cold lamb with salad (spinach, rocket, 6 baby plum tomatoes, radish, avocado)

Dinner - lamb chop with sprouts and broccoli with a knob of butter

Breakfast was a kid's carton of choc milk.
Lunch I'm still thinking about. Probably going to have a boiled egg and some leftover chopped veg salad.

I was experimenting yesterday with the microwave, and I nuked a omelette for lunch.

Bacon and cheese filling, cooked it for 3½ mins at max, I then stuck the trusty blade into the middle and it was a still a bit runny. So I nuked it for another 1½ minutes and it came out surprisingly well.
