What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Wow, I'd keel over, that's not enough even for a little mouse like me. Impressive weight loss you've achieved I have to say

Thanks. According to my app, it’s almost 1,800 calories, including a couple of cups of tea with double cream. One of my higher calorie days of the week - don’t focus on the calories so much as the carbs (16g), but it’s interesting to see them.

Hi Goonergal, I've just read your post again and it struck me that when I went to see the dietitian and she looked at my carb diary, she told me to count calories as well. She also said I could eat apples, which is true but, they've got a lot more carbs and cals in than the berries I'd been sticking to, so I don't

Makes sense - it’s all about what works for you. Although I’m aware of my calorie counts, it’s not my major focus. I’m much better now at distinguishing between real hunger and cravings and find that if I do eat a lot because I’m genuinely hungry, it doesn’t have a negative effect on my weight. It’s the days when I allow myself to graze a bit more that do that!

39.6 kgs or 6 stone 3 pounds (my scales only do kg, but I relate more easily to stones and pounds)!
None. I,ve gained 3/4 of a stone :-(, either because of starting cortisone (for Addisons) 15 yrs ago or because age is catching up with me. I'm cutting down the carbs slowly and actually feel better from without being too energy low bcsos of reduction in high blood sugars :-) - got the idea the idea off this site. (Addisons can really zonk you out. Its like having weights on your eyelids. They will close, snrrrr, hmmm, nrrrrr...). But having been a T1 almost since birth, i assiduously watch my diet and cook from scratch - i buy bread though. Before i got Addisons on a more carby diet, my weight was a constant 11 stone.

I know it’s there in your signature but I relate better too to stones and pounds and wow that’s an amazing amount of weight loss! It’s almost a whole person what a feat well done you but you really can’t have much more to shed? I’d like to lose 2 more pounds so have lost three stone and to give me some wriggle room. We all naturally fluctuate by a couple of pounds and would like my higher figure to be one I’m happy with.

I’ve passed my original target (2 kg/4.5lbs lower), but when I got there I still had a fair amount of fat around my torso and my waist is a bit large.

I take it to mean that am still quite insulin resistant and still have more than ideal visceral fat, so trying to get lower. New target is 4.5 kg (almost 10lbs) lower than I am now.

No idea if that’s realistic and to be honest if it doesn’t happen or takes ages it’s not a disaster!

Good morning all. Had a few stressful days with work -- working from 7 a.m. in the morning until 11 p.m. So, I have some catching up to do.

@shelley262 -- hope your mother is feeling better.
@Contralto -- instead of psyllium husk, you could use gluten (if you don't have issues with gluten). This is what I used to make bread in the beginning. It has about 4g of carbs per 100g and is also cheaper than psyllium husks.

Thursday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and xylitol.

Lunch: Nothing.

Snack: Way too many caramelized pecans (caramel made with double cream and erythritol).

Dinner: Tuna sashimi with homemade dip (low-carb honey, lime, ginger, soy sauce and avocado oil). A glass of red wine.

Food on Friday ...

Breakfast: Two double decaffeinated espressos with cream and xylitl. Scrambled eggs with fennel and mushrooms. Tuna sashimi with a homemade dip of low-carb honey, lime, soy sauce, and avocado oil.

Lunch: Nothing.

Snack in the afternoon: Picked up a salad from a supermarket in the railway station. Cornsalad with feta, chicken breast, raw mushrooms, and half a boiled egg. Dressing was a bit carb with 7.5g per 100ml, so I tried to go light on the dressing. Also 2 squares of 90% Lindt chocolate.

Dinner: Tuna sashimi with leftover homemade dip. Low-carb chocolate mousse with slightly xylitol-sweetened whipped cream. One glass of red wine.

First 'away' hurdle successfully compleeted. Hotel breakfast is my favourite thing about being away so I usually go for it with the toast and jam and muffins etc but I stuck to bacon sausage and egg, no toast followed by a walk. Husbo us hovering over some cake but I'm going to steer him away from the dark side

Have you check the waist to hips ratio formula as that can give you a really good indicator of visceral fat or so I’m told !. I did it and it was 0.8 for me which is really good supposed to be more reliable than bmi I suppose we’ve all got different frames etc and this takes it into account.

Thank you Ziggy yes mum is improving daily. She has consultant appt next week so going up for a few days again from Wednesday to Friday to see what he says and help her out. He did mention it could be caused by a tumour on the gland which would mean an op but we just need to take it one step at a time and infection def dying down. Also gather tumour on this gland is rarely cancerous but has to b3 removed as it causes too much calcium in body which isn’t good.

Well done staying with it despite stress and long hours at work it’s hard to keep on track so you’ve done very well

Hi All,

I love this thread, and I love that people feel comfortable chatting and sharing weightloss tips and family news.

But it was really set up as a what did you eat today thread for people to help and inspire each other to eat low carb. It would be a pity to lose that by turning it into a general chat thread.

Please still swap news and exchange ideas and recipes, just bear in mind that the thread is primarily so that we can inspire each other on low carb food choices and diary our our own eating.
