Hope you have a lovely time, enjoyI usually eat dinner around 7.30-8.00 and post afterwards, but I’m of out to see Jason Manford at the theatre tonight, so I’ll have to eat earlier. Therefore I’ll post what I’ve had so far and what I’m planning for dinner.
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream (2 tsp) washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: homemade cream of mushroom soup with a Joseph’s low carb pitta followed by Greek yoghurt and raspberries.
Mid afternoon: Hartleys 10cal jelly and black coffee.
Dinner will be mature cheddar and mushroom omelette with salad of some kind, followed by strawberries and cream.
How are you feeling after your fast @Goonergal?
I’ve not been too happy with my numbers today. My out of bed reading was higher than normal and took a long time to come down. I had a choc chia pudding for breakfast and wonder if there was too many carbs in when I’m already tackling liver dump?
Wake up; 10.1
Breakfast; chia pudding (before 10.2, after 9.2)
Lunch; left over meatballs with lettuce and caeser dressing (before 7.4 after 8.9)
Dinner; omelette with cheese, onion and mushroom and a waitrose sausage (before 7.6 after 7.0)
I’ve currently got some keto brownies baking in the oven. Fingers crossed they taste good....I’ll keep you posted.
Well done @Goonergal welcome backHi all. Checking in after ending my fast after 48 hours. Enjoyed catching up with all of your posts.
@ziggy_w you’ve been working a lot recently. I hope it’s appreciated.
@maglil55 hope the gym visit went well
@DJC3 your doctors visit sounds surreal
@shelley262 what is your bolognese recipe? I’ve stopped doing mine as the tomatoes made it way too sweet, but miss a good bolognese
Broke fast in stages to be gentle on my stomach.
Started with 25g almonds while dinner finished cooking; followed by Waitrose lamb kleftico. Then baked a chocolate olive oil cake - my dad and his wife are visiting tomorrow and I promised them one. Have just eaten a warm slice with cream.
The microwave tip for salami crisps is a winner, I tried it this evening, amazing, thank you for discovering this and sharing with us all1pm last of the lamb henry
3pm the smallest hot choc that Costa do (about 100ml)
7pm pork ribs
Ma6be goatsmilk yog and cream, later.
Your pizza sounds amazing. I finish work tomorrow lunch time, taking half day as it’s my birthday, we fly to Crete on Tuesday, really looking forward to it but am also slightly nervous as this will be my first trip abroad since diagnosis. My second HbA1c test is end of May so the holiday period will be included in my blood test.Evening all
@ziggy_w shame the red wine didn’t work for you, maybe its because your levels are good to start with? Mine still have a fair way to come down. At least it was good fun trying I hope.
@Rachox hope Jason Manford was good tonight.
@shelley262 I love your new avatar you look so trim and cheerful.
@Goonergal wow! Well done, hope you sleep better tonight.
@jayney27 when are you going on hols? Hope you have a great time.
B: a sausage and fried egg
Went to see a friend this morning, she’d made Mary Berry cookies. I felt so guilty saying I couldn’t have one, but really wasn’t tempted.
L: tin of mackerel fillets in olive oil, with 1/2 avocado and apple cider vinegar dressing. Adonis blondie bar
D: ‘meatza’ pizza made with a rolled out 100% beefburger as a base and topped with sour cream ( much prefer this to tom puree, thanks @ziggy_w) plus mozzarella, mushrooms chorizo and spinach. It was great, took just seconds to prepare and was really filling and satisfying.
Large glass of dry white wine.

Thank you DJC3How exciting! I can understand the nervousness over holidaying before the HbA1c but I hope it doesn’t rule your holiday or spoil the enjoyment. You seem to be doing really well and have good control. I’m sure you’ll find a lot of lovely fresh food to enjoy.
Have a great birthday tomorrow.
I use it too it’s quite motivating
Hi @Goonergal congrats on the fast - Friday weigh in should be good for you.
My bolognese recipe - I soak about 6 sun dried tomatoes - in boiling water for at least 30 mins and overnight if remember. I Buy frozen Mediterranean veg from Waitrose which I use a lot in casseroles and fry a small amount in oil, add dried garlic and onion granules and dried basil then add the soaked and chopped dried toms and water. I then cook in my slow cooker for a couple of hours fry the mince and add to sauce and cook for another hour. I use half for bolognese and the heat up other half the following day with a few dried chillies, and a few mushrooms fried in butter and black olives to replace the beans! It’s not at all sweet I don’t think.
Enjoy your day with your Dad and his wife and eating again!
