What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@ianspurs - hope you had a wonderful Birthday and enjoyed a G&T or two. @DJC3 - I hope for good news for Tilly soon. My son & DILs big lump of a dog ended up in veterinary hospital about a year ago with failing organs but we were lucky that they found out quickly the root of the problem. 2 days in hospital sorted him. Poor Tilly sounds more of a mystery. I do hope the specialist tracks the source.
Bed 6.8 FBG 7.6. Still not feeling 100% and DP still pushing me into the 8's in the morning. Ah well, Aqua tomorrow morning after the hundred and one other things I have to do.
B. Black coffee - took it with me as I'd overslept and only just had enough time to do the nursery/school run. Arrived for pickup and No 2 was into a thermonuclear tantrum state as he was not being allowed to take a toy to pre school. (Should add he took one with him yesterday and broke it and he'd only had it 2 days). Wasted so much time getting him in the car had to take No 1 to school first otherwise he'd be late.
After getting No 2 to nursery very late, nipped back home for a very quick scrambled egg before rushing back out for 3 yearly breast screening.
L. Nothing - had to go back for No 2 after screening (Tuesday is half day at pre school) get him back to mine for lunch which hubby was cooking then off to his final gym monkeys.
D.After gym monkeys took car for a good wash with No 2 in tow. Still a bit of hoovering to do before it goes back to be swapped for the new one tomorrow. Nipped into Iceland to allow No 2 to get ice lollies for the freezer and found what became my dinner.

I have to say it was rather nice. I did add 4 little mushrooms and some spinach to it and had it with celeriac mash. Their recommendation is to have it with pasta and there are 2 servings that way. With celeriac mash I had all 300g but it's a mere 4g carbs. I have another one in the freezer that's a different combo but pretty decent for days like today when I really cannot be bothered.
No 2 has hayfever and is whinging with the itchy eyes, No 1 got fed up and hit him on the head with the hand brush I had in the car, had to pick up DIL from work otherwise they might have killed each other and the Lego zombie baby is still missing!!
I am going to have more of that banana chia pudding and an Adonis brownie with it which is getting a 30 second blast in the microwave otherwise I may turn to drink!

@jayney27 The silver lining theme sounds very familiar My bg is fine and my weight is good - bmi 21.6 today. What I don't want is to chase low bg numbers and disrupt other key markers which is why I am a little agnostic on the strict 20 gms and lower regimes. I totally agree with the sentiment of having the chance to turn things around. Today is really 3 years to the day since I set about the task and I could't have imagined being where I am today. @maglil55 thanks for the good wishes especially with such a busy schedule. I really like seafood medley so that is a helpful link - thanks

hi janey27..i agree with your comments re.silver lining etc. i call it the big wake up call! lightest and fittest for ten or more years i await my results in about a week
@Diawara well done on the changes and there effect. As you say, diagnosis is not nice but much better than critical incidents. I hope your results in about a week prove your work for all to see,

Hi all.

Happy birthday @ianpspurs

With you on the wake up call @jayney27 - definitely the kick up the proverbial that I needed.

Another OMAD day today. A bit hungrier than on the previous 4, but nothing major.

Dinner was 2 (very) small lamb cutlets, 2 Waitrose free range Cumberland sausages and 2 rashers bacon followed by extra thick double cream mixed with Hotel Chocolat 100% buttons.

Edited to say that mixed grill looks awesome @Brunneria

Hi @Goonergal yes I think a lot of us needed a swift kick, thankfully we got it and it hurt enough to take notice and do something about it

Agreed @jayney27 and into the bargain we must be amongst the best monitored members of the population so no real excuse for further letting things get away.

Breakfast provided by Airbnb: bacon, eggs, sausage and mushrooms with black coffee.
Lunch buffet at BIL’s wedding, cold meats, salad, brocolli quiche (left the pastry), salmon and cream cheese on crackers (I risked one!) strawberries and clotted cream and a mouthful of my daughter’s slice of chocolate sponge wedding cake.
Dinner, still at the wedding reception venue was a BBQ: 1/4 chicken, chicken and chorizo skewers and veggie skewers.
I seem to be doing ok winging it these last couple of days, average blood sugar yesterday was 5.3, today it’s been 5.1 so far so I’m really pleased. We’re visiting the Eden Project tomorrow before we head home so lunch there then dinner at motorway services mid way through our drive home, fingers crossed for another day of finding suitable choices on the hoof.

Didn’t manage to post yesterday as Tilly sadly died last night so we drove up to Luton to see her and say goodbye. We didnt get home til nearly 1am. We are all in shock now and the house is SO empty.

B: a leftover DD naan bread from yesterday evening’s dinner, with butter and a poached egg. This was really nice and reminded me of potato farls or pancakes we used to have with a big weekend fry up

L: M&S prawn cocktail avocado and smoked salmon

D: none - we’d had the call by then and were bombing up the M1

2 spoonsful almond butter when we got home to try to kill the gnawing pain in my stomach, which wasn’t hunger.

Happy Birthday for yesterday. Sounds like you had a good present with your bp and BMI results and a stupendous birthday feast.

@DJC3 just quickly checked forum this morning and saw your news so so sorry for you and the whole family it will feel dreadful I’m sure and you really need to mourn and also look after yourself do take care of yourself lots of love, hugs and thoughts heading your way.
I’m hectic at conference and also had the most vile cramps during the night a mix of standing all day in smart heeled shoes (not used to it!) and dehydration it’s hot in hotel but busy so drank a lot less liquid and very little to eat. Will post re my food when back home need to rush off and get ready but had to respond to @DJC3 s very sad news

So sorry to hear about Tilly, @DJC3 , you must be devastated. Thinking of you and sending hugs your way.

Thank you, we are all in bits. I went for a walk just now and kept looking round for her.
Strange coincidence but my next door neighbour got a new puppy yesterday, he is very cute and actually made me smile which I didn’t think I’d manage for ages.

So sorry to hear your news. The chasm they leave is unbelievably deep.
