Dinner: A lamb hotpot made with a butternut squash topping - and steamed kale

Checkout the ingredients of the chicken bovril... last time I looked, the beef one was OK, but the chicken one had Monosodium Glutamate in it.

You may be fine with MSG, but it gives me a headache and I get very thirsty and retain water.

Well done you. My FBG is only just starting to come down after the spikes. Daytime reverting to normality so I suspect there was a lurking bug the last few days. Was 8.2 this morning having been 9.8 last night. I guess it wasn't the chocolate Red wine that kept it level the night before then? Boo

Thank you for the heads up on that. Yes, irs got MSG - I think I'll just have normal beef bovril. I've been surprised at how good it is for getting rid of the afternoon shakes while I'm fasting like this.

Yesterday...

B: Bulletproof coffee

L: roast chicken leg with a spoonful of barley risotto, avocado

D: Beef casserole with celeriac mash

Isn't FBG annoying?? Anything and everything seems to affect mine. I had slowly got it down from 7.6 to 5.1 over this last week of the Blood Sugar Diet and now, on the both mornings since the new dog moved in, its gone right back up to 7.6.

I noticed the Recipe for fathead crackers yesterday when I was checking their recipe for fathead pizza. Are they crunchy?

It seems the dawn figures are finally dropping was 9.9 on Monday 8.6 Tuesday and 7.9 today. Got a shock this morning though. Usually, I have my less sugar latte with food as it has 5g of carbs in it. This morning I was in a hurry and hubby had made me a latte but that was all I had after testing. Got back just over 1hr later and tested pre breakfast forgetting about the latte and to my horror I was at 12.2. It is coming down pretty quickly now but it looks like I'm either going to have black Tea before heading out or change my morning coffee to something other than a less sugar latte. I'm also wondering if there is something else in there? It is the Tassimo pods and I use the Jacobs less sugar latte. It seems to be OK with food but that is one heck of a jump on its own.

Mine weren't. Actually I was rather disappointed in them, but the problem may have been that I left them too thick and didn't cook them long enough for any crisping up to happen.

I made some fab linseed crackers over xmas though. Very crisp and crunchy and delish.

@maglil55 You aren't the only one having BG weirdness today. I was woken up by the new dog at 5.30 - check BG and it was 5.4. I thought 'Woopee, Dawn Phenomenon hasn't kicked in yet' so I ate one of the chipolata sausages that Mr C had just cooked for himself on the hope that it would stay down then 2 hours later it was up to 7.8 which is higher than my BG has been all this week. I just don't understand!!!! Those chipolatas are less than 1g of carb each.

Anyway, today:

Breakfast: 1 chipolata
Lunch: Mug of Bovril (beef one)
Dinner: Crack Slaw - different one this time. In the recipe book its called 'Stir Fried Cabbage with Peppered Smoked Mackerel).
