What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Bed 5.2 FBG 5.6 and pre breakfast was 6.6 so figures are improving again. Looking forward to dinner tonight. I have Tesco GF Yorkshire puddings. Frozen ones from their Free From range at only 4.5 g carbs. Hope they taste good.
B. Slice Bfree GF bread toasted with thin sliced ham and boiled egg. Tassimo morning coffee with cream.
L. Nothing
D. Campari and soda and a wee prosecco.
Mussels in a white wine sauce
Rib roast with low carb GF Yorkshire pudding, sprouts, roast cauliflower and cauliflower taters. May have spinach too.
Few strawberries and raspberries with cream.
OK changed it slightly. The roast cauliflower is one @Brunneria came up with and it is spicy. So put me in the mood for more spice so there are mini peppers stuffed with cream cheese and chilli, stuck with the spinach and dropped the sprouts and cauliflower taters. The carb eaters have roast potatoes too and I still have the low carb Yorkshire puddings - they look like proper Yorkshire puddings - hope they taste like them too.
And here's the link to the cauliflower. I suspect it will taste as good as it looks.

Yay - result! The 1 1/2 hour change in blood sugars after eating the Oppo ice cream is -0.2 mmol - the other flavours need to find place in my freezer!

Cheese omelette with mushrooms

1/2 Lidl roll with cream cheese and ham

Rest of chicken curry pie cold - very tasty and would be excellent for a picnic. Two squares of dark chocolate and a few peanuts

Today has been

B: none except a cup of coffeesubstitute and cream
L: Sigh. Caught out after dog walk with a ravening husband, so went to BurgerKing. Sat outside with the dogs, while I ate an Angus burger, minus bun, and half a portion of chips, with water. He ate a burger with bun, onion rings, his chips, the rest of my chips in my bun, and a coke.
D: I will be having pressure cooked chicken in lime, chipotle and smoked paprika, with red cabbage and green salad. Maybe one new potato.

I don't think Mr B will need anything, but if he does, there will be chicken enough...

Strangely hungry today.

Breakfast - none

Lunch - had planned on skipping but not to be. Smoked salmon and poached eggs. 2 squares Lindt 90%. 4.6 before lunch, 4.6 two hours later.

Snack - still hungry a couple of hours after lunch (v unusual) so had a couple of spoons of Waitrose extra thick double cream. Did the trick.

Dinner - knew it wouldn't be long before I was back. Walked to Nando's in Greenwich - lovely setting right next to the Cutty Sark. Half a plain chicken - didn't intend to eat a full half, but down it went - with salad. Gentle evening stroll home along the Thames.

The Tesco Free From Yorkshire puddings are great. They look like a Yorkshire pudding and they taste like a Yorkshire pudding ( gee I sound like Louis Walsh). Cook from frozen , 3 mins in the oven. They are smaller than Aunt Bessies but at 4.5g carbs and 37 calories what's not to like!

Today is a fasting day for me so:

Breakfast: Black coffee

Lunch: Black coffee

Dinner: Fat Head pizza and straight from the garden salad

Thank you to @heh for alerting me the the new Hovis low carb bread. They have 3 versions , white would you believe, wholemeal and multi seed.
The white is 85 calories per slice, 11.6 g carbs 5.1g fibre. Wholemeal also 85 calories 9.8g carbs and 5.2g fibre. Seeded is 100 calories but 9.9g carbs and 5.5 g fibre.
Seems we are being well catered for in the bread lines what with these 3, Lidl high protein rolls and Tesco high protein bread and Bfree that I discovered at Sainsbury's which is GF and wheat free and doesn't taste like cardboard!
I've had a reply from Hovis and the carbs shown are the total carbs so net carbs in the seeded is indeed 4.4g per slice.
I agree though that we need some consistency with carb counts. Still good news with the Hovis lower carb breads.

I've just been trying to search for this low carb Hovis on the Asda website but I can't find it - could you let me know what its full name is please? I might email Asda and ask them if they are going to stock it. :)

Just looked on the Sainsburys website - can't find it there either. :(

Last week of zero carbing

B-coffee with cream
L-slice of bacon frittata
D- will be left over bbq meats

Have you been finding it as boring as I did? I thought the first week was okay but the second week really seemed to drag.

I've decided to just do it three days each week because it is really good for getting blood glucose down.

Hello @Chook, yes it is a boring but easy diet, have decided to continue with this week, then back to Lchf. I will possibly dip in and out of zero carbing just as a maintenance diet. X

Here's the link to the Hovis site Chook so you can see what they look like. Only place I've seen them is Tesco although I understand Waitrose stocks them too (but Waitrose isn't a common supermarket up here). They are very new so I would expect it's just a matter of time before the others get them in.

B - goats cheese bacon and green veg frittata
L - 50g of the Oppo choc and hazelnut ice cream - vvvv nice! Low carb low cal With a deep choc flavour and it does ****** all to my blood sugars!- whats not to like?
D - might not bother - not ery hungry
S - 25g smoked almonds, 50g cream cheese
Drinks - 2 x nespresso with soya cream, 1 x sparkling water and sugar free squash

Think im going to have to retest Oomi noodles despite the apparant 5 point BM increase last time - looked over my food diary for the last month today and the days I had Oomi noodles in meals there were no spikes. I have tho been having some issues with DP giving some sharply rising BMs in the morning and I did the Oomi test at breakfast time so think another one is called for

Looking at the nutrition on the website I'd read it as 9.9 grams of carb as the fibre is listed separately rather than as part of the carbohydrates (as in the US). But guess the exact count is not as important as measuring the blood sugar impact with a meter.

I love that flavour of Oppo too. Just had some for dinner with a dollop of double cream.
