What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Same here... I'm allergic to penicillin - or so i was told, I was too you to remember what happened and/or my symptoms and never asked.

Yes, I have things I wish I had clarified with a parent too.

That's the way of the world, sadly. I think there are lots of people out there who have whole lists of questions they would have asked, if they'd thought about it at the time. I know I have. I'm currently trying to reconstruct some parts of the past with my elder brother's help, but there are things that are gone completely. Mum or Dad would have known at least some of it.

I dont think it’s shingles, the positions are too transient and random and it’s not really a rash just itchy lumps, but thanks for the lateral thinking. I will give up eggs and see what happens - no mayo! I might be reduced to that vegan alternative made with chick pea juice. Has anyone tried making it?

I have some mayo (unopened) made with avocado oil if you’re interested.

Breakfast.
2X CWC, 2 egg cheese omelette. Couldn't face spinach this morning.
Shopping until lunch time. So no mid morning drink. Seasonal hazard.
Some figgy bread with ham, avocado and basic salad of lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Tea
More shopping. Will it never end? Still have to go again tomorrow to get sugar I forgot today. Ofc shopping here is always at least a ten min car drive. Going for one thing very uneconomic.
Dinner chicken with ratatouille, cauliflower, and French beans. Yoghurt, mixed berries, glass of white wine.
Bedtime tea a bit late @ 10 25. Have been trying to have it by 10pm. Wonder if that will affect FBG?
My parsley honey, the clear one has begun to crystallize.
I hate to even suggest it bur Shingles is always about and different people have different reactions. Hope it isnt but worrh excluding.
Even shingles would be preferable to onset of egg allergy. At least that gets better.

Breakfast. 2x CWC.
Visitors early so nothing else, except tea. And an arrangement for guy to come and help with the building work- starting tomorrow.YIPPEEE. But- now no chance of leaving early for UK. ':arghh:
Planned to use leftover veg from last night. But when it was heated up with an egg on top... meh. Ate the egg. Veggies in the bin.
Lunch. BG 5.4
Avocado, tomato and brebis salad. Bit of chicken, lettuce and cucumber. A large orange.
This was a planned experiment. First course almost carb free. Meant to take BG 60 mins and 2 hours but in the end was only 90 mins. BG 5.3
Am hoping this means I can indulge in fruit sometimes, If I plan carefully.
Several cups of tea, we both been busy and neither of us had enough fluid today.
MrSlim opened a bottle if fizz while I was making dinner. Ofc I had a glass.
Dinner pork shoulder chop, cauliflower, green beans, red cabbage casserole. Yoghurt and berries. More fizz.
Proof that alcohol can cause me problems. All week have been waiting until dinner. Things have been fine. Tonight drink 20, maybe 30 mins BEFORE dinner, result - not good. Presume it is the loss of weight that has decreased my tolerance. Hopefully lesson learned and just in time for the alchofest tbat is xmas. Where are all the tasty non alcohol, low carb drinks?
Does anyone have a recommendation for one that isn't too sweet?

Small chunk of Cantal cheese.
Lemi and ginger tea.

My daughter got a bottle of Seedlip recently, they do a few varieties, flavoured with various botanicals so they can be used in cocktails as gin or rum might be. They are becoming very popular but I don’t know if they have sugar in. I doubt it as they are supposed to be spirit substitutes

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Lunch: chicken supreme with mixed veg followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.
Mid afternoon: gingerbread Carb Killa bar (limited edition) with a black coffee.
Dinner (on the move, taxiing love struck daughter to her boyfriend’s 120 mile round trip away after her train was cancelled :wideyed:) Babybel cheeses, cauliflower and broccoli salad and pork scratchings followed by Greek yoghurt, raspberries and keto macadamia and coconut granola.

@Chook
@maglil55

Can you remember (centuries ago) me burbling about a kind of keto porridge on this thread?
It was low calorie, low carb, had cinnamon and a tiny smattering of goji berries and dried blueberries in it.
Came in sachets, and had to be mixed up, left to stand, then could be heated or eaten cold.

I was talking to Mr B about it yesterday, and he said that he fancied trying it again.
So I had a look through my past Amazon orders and cannot spot it.

Can you remember what is was called? Or who made it?

I do remember that one of you made your own version of it too. Can you remember the recipe?

It was me that made it up but I can't remember the recipe. I think it had coconut flour psyllium husk, linseeds, cinnamon and goji berries but i can't remember the rest. I just looked for it on Amazon and can't find anything under keto porridge. Have you thought about this diet doctor recipe https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/keto-coconut-porridge

Thank you. A quick peek at the Hellman’s ingredients show sugar and cornstarch, haven’t checked the others. It must be very hard to be a ketogenic vegan. A friend has sent me this vegan mayo recipe though which I’ve just made ( it’s my favourite sort of recipe - chuck it all in an mix with a stick blender) didn’t bother with sf maple syrup and it is a surprisingly acceptable mayonnaise!

I'm all ready - all presents are wrapped, cards written and food either here or ordered and yet to be delivered.

Bored now...

@DJC3 - is there an allergy test you can take rather than cut out something so essential to our WOE?

@Brunneria - I hope you manage to find Mr B a 'porridge' recipe that he would like. I think I just looked at the ingredient list on Amazon and mixed together everything in what seemed to be suitable proportions. My issue with it was the texture - very gloopy.

What's everyone's plans for Christmas - still doing BG tests? I think I'm going to go as low carb as possible but still enjoy my food. I remember a few Christmases ago I went very low on Christmas morning and with some ketones - very scary - so I will still test my BG. I'm not sure what I did that Christmas (could have been the smoked salmon, chocolate and champagne for breakfast) but I don't ever want to go in to the low 2s again!

So, yesterday (Sunday) was:

Saturday bed: 4.9

Sunday FBG: 7.5
Breakfast: Savoury chaffle with 100g baked beans, fried eggs and mushrooms
2 hours later: 7.8

Lunch: 6.1
Advent calendar cheese and a square of Lindt 70%
2 hours later: 6.1

Dinner: 6.4
a @ianpspurs inspired huge bowl of salad (and I mean HUGE) with a few crumbled falafels, some leftover Oumph! from Friday, 20g cheese and a couple of tablespoons chia seeds, salad dressing - very nice and I'm having another big bowl of it tonight
2 hours later: 7.5

Bed: 7.7

Drinks were coffee until lunchtime then water until dinner. After dinner I had a G&ST with a friend.

Today’s food shaping up as follows:
Breakfast: slice LivLife toast, butter, tea x2.
Lunch: Mug of h/m Leek & Broccoli soup, few rollitos.
Supper: Roasted chunks aubergine, red onion and tomato sprinkled with EVO and dried Italian herbs.

@Annb wondering how you are today?

Sorry been behind in posting so slowly trying to catch up with posts.

Being on prednisone and I've been trying to stay LCHF even when I am my BSL still spikes 4 to 5 hours after eating to 10 or 13 mmol/L. So I've rang my diabetic clinic again on Friday morning and was told someone will call back its now Monday night and no call. I try to control my hunger but its also been hard especially in the afternoon when my BSL is high im not sure why that is can high BSL make you more hungry? But I'm getting annoyed as no one rang back. So I'm thinking might increase my medication dose myself I've got about another 4 more weeks of tappering my dose of steroids but im concerned about my high BSL one night about 2 hours before bed it reached 20 mmol/L surprisingly my morning BSL are between 5 or 6 mmol/L.
I'm eating eggs scrambled sometimes a sausage with them. Today I slept in till 12.30pm i wasn't feeling so well my BSL was 6mmol/L I ate a banana and left over scramble eggs from 2 breakfasts ago. Dinner I made hamburgers with the works I was ravished I ate it on a low carb bun. Then had some cream with mangoes I figured fruit is probably better then eating chips chocolates etc but I'm still eating more than I need as im always hungry from the prednisone or BSL being high...

So How am I going well I'm doing ok still have my days. Only find out today that we are having Christmas at my mums place but I'm not sure who will be going. Normally at Christmas all my family goes to either my mums or my sister place who died recently. I'm from a large family there are over 35 of us I've actually lost count how many lol..but I'm not sure who is going to be going this year. I think its going to be a tough Christmas for all of us. And as I am writing this I've started crying sorry not looking for sympathy just needed to post this. But I'm ok so. It's just tears of emotions sadness and happinest mixed all together

So What have I been up to Since being home from hospital I've done little as possible I've mainly been recorporating resting cooking some meals and I've been binge watching a lot of Christmas movies for therapy haha as well. As dorky as some of these movies are they can help give you that warm hug feeling that you some times need.

Oh these are some of my flowers I have more photos but just selected a few photos of some I'm growing in my garden and a bunch of flowers a friend sent me. I hope you enjoy the photos of the flowers and cheer you all like they do me.

My garden

Flowers how they grow smiling at the world colours so radiant they brighten your day.

Thanks for reading enjoy my lovely garden
