Just been looking at Marie Claire and Sirt. You are right, its the same green gloop! My friend (who gave me the recipe) knows better than tell me it was part of yet another weird diet which she's knows i would avoid like the plague. All she said was that its reduced her BGs out of the pre-D range.

I don't get the Adele references though?

Breakfast: Mega Toby Carvery buffet breakfast (vegetarian style)
Followed by trailing round half a dozen different ships and supermarkets to get our monthly shopping
3 hours after breakfast: 5.8
Lunch: Won't be needed
Dinner: Vivera vegan steak, salad, h/m coleslaw and a few plain strawberries for dessert

Drinks: Black decaff coffee and lots of water

I've just bought the book for 1p from Amazon - I'm probably just Chasing Pavements.... but if the rest of it works like the green gloop then its worth a try.

Hi All
Today had my usual breakfast of sluce LivLife toast, butter, tea x3.
Lunch: very samey this week, small plate cheese salad.
Went to see my fish man and got two very lovely Halibut steaks and 4 scallops (£1.50 each!!!). Bit of a Friday treat and fresh from the boats which I do t mind paying for! Mr PM will have sweet potato wedges and I tenderstem brocolli. Had a lovely chat with an old lady in the queue.

I took a look at the Sirtfood diet and approved of the logic though I am not bothered about weighloss the stars of the show were things I like. I have never been much interested in juicing but I wonder how much the nutrients would drop if turned into a green soup. Eg. Leek, brocolli and parsley.

I had a handful of cashew nuts yesterday evening - I got very hungry and they were there (I'd bought them for Em - she loves them, but they were TESCO's own - not as good as KP). That shoved my BG up to 12.7 before bed.

FBG today was 8.8. Today, so far, only 3 chicken wings - there were 4 but I was feeling very full and a bit nauseous after 3. I've taken most of my pills today, other than the diuretics since I have to go out this evening and also taken some Co-codamol - all with mugs of tea. So I'm well up on the fluids so far and my insides are beginning to feel calmer after the half dose of Co-codamol.

I'll probably have something eggy before I go out, to keep me going into the evening.

The lower doses of insulin were not sufficient to control BG yesterday, so I'm edging it back up again today. At least I didn't have breakfast, so that was one dose less than yesterday. Haven't weighed myself this week yet, but everything is getting tighter so I think the weight is going back on again. I may give up the carnivore idea - not that it isn't working at least as well as simply low carb, but I really don't like not having some veg and buying lots of meat is more expensive than having veg as well - my food bill has gone up by about £7-10 a week in the last 2 weeks. That's just for me and really isn't on. Plus, I should probably take some kind of vitamin supplement if there are no veg at all - they usually make me feel pretty bad and they're not cheap either.

Why can't I be just normal? Or why did I have to go and find out about the diabetes in the first place. I'd have been less troubled by diet (probably not longer troubled by anything by now though).

i like the idea of a soup as an alternative to the gloop. I just noticed its supposed to be juiced.... not sure about juicing. If it was just warmed through to use as a soup without boiling or simmering I think it would keep most of its nutrients.

I think I've mentioned before that I have been in your situation regarding unstable BGs and insulin injections and i felt completely rubbish because of the huge highs and subsequent hypos when i overdid the fast acting. After a life threatening insulin accident I went to as near zero carb as i could but found my liver would pump out glucose all morning if I didn't eat a carb free breakfast of fat and protein as soon after i get up as possible. if I delayed breakfast it just carried in rising and causing me problems all through the day. After researching Dawn Phenomenon I ended up eating bacon and eggs or a large chunk of Brie every morning for quite a few years even though I don't like breakfast and its the ONLY thing that stops that rise.

I’m so sorry about the cashews . But now you know they increase BG. We are all in the same boat , just some ( like me ) miss food more than others .

I was lucky enough to be able to see lots of specialists , nutritionists and to have lots of them among my family and relatives too . The advice I have been given by all of them is a balance diet of protein like meat and egg , vegetables and less than 100 gr of complex carbs . I noticed this diet serves me more than any other diet out there and that is why your endocrinologist would never put you on any other diet out there . So I would stick to what my doctors say and use peer advice to slightly enhance it - within doctors advice.

So I think you made a good decision eating veggies again and for me veggies also fill me up so I won’t want snacks as much ( I was never a big snacker but still ). Also they have minerals and vitamins that help your cardiovascular system which is in danger by diabetes . The goal of diabetes treatment is not just controlling blood sugar , there is much more to it.

I have diabetic friends ( even type 1 ) that using this diet and a tight control of insulin , they have had A1C under 5.5 for many many years nearly a decade . So it’s possible. But I think it needs a good doctor to watch your insulin closely for a while .

I know diet is terrible but if it helps us to stay healthier longer and enjoy all life has to offer . Then maybe it is a good price to pay ? I say maybe because one has to be skeptical.

Just to say, if I were to eat 100g of carbs a day I would very soon be injecting insulin again or becoming very ill. We are all different in the amount of carbs we can tolerate and we each need to find our own level.

Evening all.

Back to my normal lunch of eggs bacon and cheese today. Then carni pizza for dinner with a topping of pepperoni, bacon and a small amount of onion. @PenguinMum there may need to be further experimentation for the perfect cheddar only version. That was all I had in and the consistency just wasn’t the same, mind I did also use a different version of crackling which is almost like quavers and ended up with a much larger volume of ‘crumb’. Result was a ‘dough’ that was far less malleable. Tried adding extra cheese and cream cheese, but no difference. However, it passed the main test - flavour - with flying colours. Pretty delicious.

@Chook I’m impressed by your Adele posts. Mention of Daydreamer made me feel odd. A couple of years ago when I was in hospital, I was in a bad way and the nights were long and full of pain. The thing that helped me through was playing that song on a loop through my earphones. Her lovely voice soaring and the gorgeous simple guitar just swirled round and round inside my head and took me to a different place. No idea why that song in particular but it worked better than morphine.

Think music generally is good for autism - my autistic adult son uses favourite music all the time to help to calm, cope and ground him. Will ask him about Adele - he’s got quite wide music tastes but not sure Adele is on the list. Thank you x

Woke around 5.00, tested, 800 mls bulletproof assam tea with splash of cream; waited 2 hrs tested then 568.2 ish mls (a pint) bulletproof sencha tea - no cream. More sencha tea. Sirtfood type green juice as a trial around 1.00 pm.Tasted good - bound to with tablespoon of ACV and avocado in it - not sure I like a .5 rise though. Mid afternoon I had some cheeses before we bin them and 1 row Waitrose 90% chocolate. 1 hrs exercise bike,shower etc then moules and halloumi frites plus clearing freezer of DGF brownies so 2 with some cream. 3 more brownies to go.

Dinner: Pork chops, veggies, pan juice gravy.

Just had to fill a online missing person item form out for four kilos of bacon that was not delivered yesterday.

Breakfast two boiled eggs and a toasted buttered chaffle
Lunch range of cheese and celery sticks followed by montezumas 100% chocolate with orange oil and coffee
Dinner trout in lemon butter with cauliflower cheese and glass of dry white wine followed by lemon and lime lc mousse with spoon of yoghurt.
Also slow cooked a piece of ham today which finished in air-frier - looks delicious it’s now in fridge for lunches and for Monday’s planned frittata. Cooked it with fennel and mustard seeds - will be interesting to see how much flavour this adds to the ham. I’ve also ordered a fennel bulb for Sunday’s grocery delivery - going to try a diet doctor coleslaw recipe that uses fennel. We’ve got a family occasion in a weeks time so trying out a few ideas for the buffet! I’m also hoping to try out a raspberry and chocolate DD brownie recipe tomorrow to see if works - more news tomorrow!
