Brunch - bacon & eggs

Dinner - Cajun chicken, cauliflower cheese and carrots

Shelley262 - well done on the weight loss - do you find that eating only once a day helps you lose weight quicker? The reason I am asking is I would like to lose another 6lbs - but I have to say I have kind of stop losing weight and it seems to be getting harder. Many thanks x
Hiya I do find OMAD helps weight loss - the longer the fasting period the better for weight loss- but I also find it’s best not to stick to one method. If you haven’t done OMAD before and do it for a few days it may well help. I don’t generally put on weight now eating keto - it was just a very small gain and my bmi is low. I mainly wear size 8 (U.K.) clothes with a few size 10s depending on where from. I had no visible differences re clothes etc so it’s just me being ultra cautious. I’m switching tomorrow back to two meals. Mixing up routine tends to help weight loss in my opinion but these days I tend to just maintain usually. I’m just keen to keep BMI at 20 but would be more worried if clothes got tight! Three years ago when moved from size 20/22 to my now 8/10 it cost lots - even though majority of transition clothes came from charity shops!
Today’s OMAD salmon in lemon butter with green beans and celeriac chips with glass of dry white followed by sf lemon and lime jelly.

With the current heat I don't really feel like eating, and even less like cooking. So apart from lots of coffee with skimmed milk (not trying to reduce fat, just the way I like my coffee :) ) breakfast was a low carb cracker with ham and brie at 2.30pm.

I made the mistake(?) of thawing a smoked mackerel yesterday so I had to do something with it today. Turned it into a mayonnaise based (yup, I'm Dutch) mackerel salad with onion, pepper, bit of hot sauce, some horseradish, lemon zest and juice and a little black bean sauce instead of salt.
The possible mistake being that I didn't feel like cleaning the mackerel but I did anyway, eating some while doing so.

Had a couple of beers at my neighbour's.

At around 10pm it cooled a little so I made a leafy salad with tomatoes and sundried tomatoes in oil, with the mackerel and a bit of cheap fake crab salad from Aldi.

Will likely have some nuts and chocolate in bed later.

Hey Shelley - many thanks for that - how many pounds do you expect to lose for doing OMAD for a couple of days? (just to give me an idea of how much I could maybe lose - I had not heard of OMAD before). I have 5/6 pounds to lose and it ain't coming off fast - I had put a stone on over the winter months and so far have lost about 12 pounds (since lockdown) of that weight I put on so I want to lose the extra 2lbs and and another 3 to get me just under 9 stone. Like yourself, I was size 20 at my heaviest (a few years back) and I am now size 10 mainly (sometimes 8, sometimes 12). I need to do something huge to get these last few pounds off? x

@PenquinMum - I actually feel fine now. Sorry to hear about your friend's husband though. It's been a long haul and I'm glad my lungs and breathing feel normal again. @Annb - how are you now? I'm a few days behind so have a bit of catching up to do. I believe you had a fair bit thunder in the Western Isles yesterday? We've got it today. @SlimLizzy - when is Mr Slim due to return? It must be so difficult trying to cope on your own.
Tuesday - BGs still on the high side. Bed 8 FBG 7.7
B. TAG and a slice of LC toast and pate.
L. Nothing
D. 2 GF sausages, veggie chips and a fried egg.
2 squares of Lidl's 85%

This was a day of good news, bad news and good news. My car did arrive in Edinburgh but to a depot. Trouble is they need to get cars out to get cars in and they can't because you know who says no! So car is now stuck in a depot until 7 July. However, they did get another one into the dealership - same car but a darker silver. Don't care I'll take that one. So paperwork is getting sorted.

Weight loss and gain is always individual. I’ve just done six days OMAD after a two meal day and previous to that last week a mixed week of OMAD and a few two meal days! Doing that for me has meant lost 1.5kg that wanted to. It’s about experimentation try it and see. I’d suggest you do a you tube search on dr Jason fung and watch a few of his fasting videos very motivating and explain intermittent fasting well.

I'm dreading going. I have a bridge and during this lengthy illness one of the things that happened was all my gums became inflamed. It took a week of Corsidol to treat it. Trouble is my bridge doesn't fit now. If they can't adjust it (when I'm finally allowed an appointment ) it will be around £400 for a new one!

I’m with you I’m due for the start of bridge work next Wednesday but my quote (pre covid) is 600 - crossing fingers no extra charged for extra ppe as have heard some dentists are making a surcharge! I’m waiting confirmation of appt and details next Monday / Tuesday.

@Antji77 - I agree too hot to cook! I had the boys here on Wednesday for home schooling and I let No 1 see the photo of the Guineas enclosure under construction. He is very impressed. @Annb - hope you got all requested tests. I still have a fair few posts to get through so the answer may be there. @Goonergal - love the pictures and yes the drumsticks and thighs air fried in parmesan were excellent. Just needed longer. Ended up about 40 mins. Even hubby said I can make them again. Wednesday bed 7 FBG 8.4. So bedtime better but DP still an issue.
B. TAG and 3 GF crackers with pate.
L. TAG and a DGF Bakewell - they are rather good (my supplies arrived today)
D. 1/2 small tin tuna, some prawns that had to be eaten, avocado, tomatoes, boiled egg and helmans. Another DGF bakewell.

Today was the best I've felt in a long time. Even the lessons went well.

B: h/b egg mashed in butter in a rolled up slice of smoked ham. Coffee, black, lots.
L: happy days I found a bit of steak in the fridge - I’d cut it off OH’s steak a couple of nights ago as his was too big for the pan! I had my bit with 3 Halloumi chips and followed with DGF cake and cream.
D: DD tuna casserole with salad ( basically lettuce) another DGF cake and cream. Dry white wine.

B. A peach (a bruised one was left in the bowl and I cant bear to throw food away) but had a shock when checking carb value!!!! Meant to test bg but forgot
L brie and ham, 2 cherry tomatoes and 10 olive ( trying to up fats to see if that helps with dry skin and/or dizziness
Made some yogurt and cream unsweetened lollies to go in freezer
D. Fish baked on spinach, cabbage and tomatoes, with olives. Tried one lolly. Had grated 2 squares 90% choc into mixture that made 4 lollies. Wasnt really enough to taste and nothing like real icecream. Hoping the raspberry ones are better.

Those of you that buy cakes/brownies etc in bulk...how do you manage not to eat the whole lot in one go? Self restraint is not my strong point when it comes to food. I keep hoping my sweet tooth will disappear but oh no, still there and can be re-triggered just by smell

Surely your volunteer helper is there to help whether you need a huge shop or a realistic one? Just buy what is required Ann. Food waste is madness.

It would be, but food is never wasted as long as there is No 2 son's family ready and willing to take up the slack. (Other than the trifle I made with left-overs some months back and which finally went out a couple of days ago). But I am going to be a bit more realistic and buy only what is needed (milk, butter, basic veg, for a while anyway).

I might have some of the gumbo today after all. The veg in it are not too problematic (onion, peppers, celery) and shouldn't alarm my system too much.

Wish me luck today. Will have lunch at my uncle and aunt's, and diabetes has been somewhat misbehaving in the past few days, I guess because of the heat.
The lunch is part of an elaborate logistical scheme involving a friend who lives close to me, 2 ducks and my cousin who live at the other end of the Netherlands (4 hour drive away), my aunt and uncle, who live right in the middle between my cousin and I, and 2 guinea pigs in need of a new home who live close to my aunt and uncle.

But first I need to coax two stubborn goats into leaving the chicken pen in favour of their own part of my garden so I can feed the chickens and rabbits. First try failed but maybe I'll have more luck now I've finished two big mugs of coffee :)

What kind of goats do you have? We used to have Saanens - very good milkers and very clever! Also quite big as goats go and had a fair bit of weight to heave around. The billy was a whole other issue. He had a habit of sharpening his horns (about 18 inches long and like scimitars) on the concrete walls of the barn. No one else would go near him and he eventually had to go when he became too dangerous, even for me to handle (he damaged, but didn't break, my wrist when he attacked one day). I think the neighbours were glad to see the back of him. The ladies were sweet though, but could be quite stubborn on occasions.

What do you reckon? Does eating 80 grams of store bought garlic marinated shrimp in oil at almost 1am count as ridiculous, as ridiculously decadent, or as a perfectly good late dessert? :D
As a savoury liking person I'd say perfectly reasonable. Decadent to me would be lobster!

Not a good day today.
Started well with no breakfast but then headed out to visit a garden. Was very hot so when hubby had an icecream I had 3 mouthfuls of his. Thought I was being good to just have 3.
Home late lunch of 2 hard boiled eggs but then son came home late and hungry so opened some oriental snack things we'd bought back from Vietnam. No nutritional info on them at all. Very tasty chilli but sweet too.
Then decided to have bbq so steak and salad but added a raspberry vinegar dressing. And had 3 Aperol spritzes and picked at strawberries and raspberries after (straight from the plant, lovely). I know I'm ok on white wine so thought these would be OK but somehow before dinner was 7.4 and after 10.8. Not sure which was the worst culprit..too many to chose from. Very disappointed with myself. Was thinking I had this all cracked but failed at first temptations :grumpy:
I'd suspect the Aperol spritz. Were they ready mixed or did you mix them yourself? Traditional mix is Aperol, Prosecco and soda. Aperol is about 11g carbs per 100 mls but the spritz mix is about 26g per serving. I'd mix my own using a very dry prosecco and loads of soda & ice.

Yesterday Friday bed 7.5 FBG 7.6. Boys were here to stay over. It was DIL birthday so I gave them a child free day as the were going to play a zoom game later. Boys were glad to get a change of venue plus I am finally well again. They were not too happy with the thunderstorms though. I tried it was just the angels bowling but then I let them see the lightning maps so they could see where the storms were and they were happy with that Did you get the thunderstorms @Chook?
B. TAG and 3 GF crackers and pate
L. Another TAG and a DGF bakewell.
D. The other half of the burrata, prawns in marie rose, and a tomato and avocado salad.
