What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@PenguinMum hugs for relapse, glad rest helps!
@Goonergal same for you!
@OzBlossom thank you for watching our election coverage and taking the chocolate hit for the team! No night time chocolate for me-- caffeine.... I went to bed. It's going to take a few days.
@SlimLizzy "frozen salad" I laughed! Hint: Cat is compensating for what he's lost of his manhood
Bfast boiled egg before leaving house to watch grandson, "not zweiback" of egg, flax, and avocado in the car. Very functional. Pecans
Second breakfast (ref Meriadoc&Peregrine) the rest of the bread stuff
Lunch cottage cheese, a little peanut butter, feta-stuffed olives
Snack cherry tomatoes, red bell pepper, a little skyr yogurt
Supper can of tuna/smear of pesto, cats got the oil in their supper, cucumber, spinach/hm dressing, flax crisps/dilute soy and some totally unnecessary pecans.
Goodnight all don't bother to stay up; I'm sure not! And good morning all!

FBG 11.9.

Breakfast: strawberries and double cream.

2nd meal today will be a vegetable casserole, some roasted veg and a couple of pork sausages. All in the oven already but shan't have it until much later.

BG now 14.7. My prescribed insulin (ordered about 8 days ago) hasn't arrived at the pharmacy, so I am using old Humilin S to keep me going. Not working all that well. I'll have to ask for my prescription to be changed since the Fiasp seems to be difficult to obtain.

Relatively mild autumn so fine by my food preferences. Menu: B= Statutory lake of Assam TWAM ; Dockey; CWC+SF caramel syrup , 20 gms Dr A, choc; L - 14.00 ish Skinnybread egg (1) mayo sandwich, cucumber + tea,; Another CWC after school pickup - IDK why? EM will be: Mackerel and avocado salad with much flaxseeds. Julie and 3 grandchildren will have cottage pie. My meal will clearly be more functional but if desperate I do adapt that. @zauberflote loved the LOTR reference. That nice young Mr Bezos of yours kindly arranged for a flunky to deliver this decrepit Limey 5 litres of EVO, 5 kgs mayo and 5 litres of ACV for lockdown 2- bless. @Annb I hope the insulin prescription can be swiftly sorted out.

Today will be day 3 of a variation on Brussels sprouts and marinated pork belly. Yesterday I added mushrooms to the leftover mixed veggies, today will be sprouts with some onion and a spicy peanut sauce to go with the pork belly pieces :hungry:.

I seem to have developed a cold, so no meeting people until after the test, and no flu jab in the planned time slot for people with a name starting with W tomorrow. Let's hope I can book an individual flu jab next week instead, provided I test negative.

Envious of that SLC bread - looked at their website. Does not seem available here, even their bread mixes. However, found I can get Sukrin bread mix - think that's a Norwegian brand? - and LC stats on that look good as well as protein content so will try it out soon. Down side of course is have to bake my own - - and find space to jam it into the freezer for rationing! I think I'm nearly used to being 'sandwich free' (though fond memories) but gosh I would love to have my poached eggs on a bit of toast again sometimes.

In my Lakanto order, I included their maple syrup, now that's a nice find! Not tried the Lakanto sweetener yet as my current keto-friendly creamer has erythritol sweetener built in, but am looking forward to trying out my various LC things now stashed in my pantry ready for all kinds of suitable baking/cooking in future.

A simple round of food again:
Lunch was a big green leaf salad with some cottage cheese and proscuitto
Dinner was homemade cream of cauliflower soup and more salad .... then I started watching US election coverage and in reaction to the suspense of it all had some SF hazelnut chocolate ("Well Naturally" is a nice brand here with lots of flavours) AND an Atkins caramel nut Endulge bar.
Blew over my - currently very limited - daily calorie allowance BUT managed to keep net carbs at 23g for the day.
Something to go with your Lakanto Maple Syrup (I have it too). Obviously don't use brown sugar in the recipe. I use Lakanto golden classic instead.

Evening everyone. Busy day for me and took a packed lunch of SLC roll filled with egg mayo and lettuce, then a DGF raspberry bakewell.
Dinner was the DD Keto tuna casserole which goes down very well with the gang here. Spinach with it and a 25g bar of Aldi 85% Moser Roth chocolate. I’d forgotten how good it is.

High fbg today so thought I’d better start skipping breakfast again. Just black coffee.
Lunch was 2 slices SLC bread: one topped with Brie and avocado slices. The other with egg mayo and lettuce. Raspberry bakewell DGF afterwards.
Dinner - the new batch of SLC rolls arrived so it was a big juicy burger @Mrs T 123 ! A slice of Emmental in it and salad with Halloumi fries too. Very full now!

@maglil55 that’s exactly how I feel about sandwiches - I ate one for lunch pretty much every day for 40 years. And ‘just a sandwich’ has become a real joy now. The rolls are huge aren’t they?

Well done for sticking to lc in spite of the relapse into Covid territory @PenguinMum -it doesn’t always tick the comfort food box when you’re under the weather I find.

Hope you enjoy the Lakanto sweetener @OzBlossom

Glad you got into Hotel Chocolate for a pre lockdown celebratory drink @Goonergal Hope it helped to fight off yesterday’s meh-ness.
Yes I am so enjoying being able to have a sandwich or roll again - so handy, convenient and filling!

5am - 1 slice slc bread (outsider) toasted with butter and a mug of earl grey tea

12 noon - slc roll filled with cheese & tomato. 2 squares lindtt 90% dark chocolate with peanut butter on top

5pm - 2 small smoked gammon steaks with mozzarella cheese melted on top. SF jelly and a little carnation milk

Another busy active day between 6am and 4pm and getting paid for it! Now in pj's in bed watching tv and listening to fireworks going off outside

Evening all.

@DJC3 I love that Moser Roth chocolate from Aldi. Really good!

A bit of a weird food day today. Began with a late breakfast of smoked salmon and cream cheese. Couldn’t finish it, so the leftovers became lunch, along with some leftover lamb from the weekend.
Dinner was an impromptu click and collect from Nando’s after an evening walk. Ended up having to wait a while so they offered me a free side. Went for their nuts - a mix of almonds, cashews and macadamias with some spice. Just nibbling on those now having demolished some wings and Halloumi.

Also had a few of the pick and mix dark chocolates I picked up in Covent Garden yesterday. Just as well we’ve locked down - how had I not previously noticed this branch of the same ice cream/chocolate store that I was led astray by in New York last year!

Lunch frozen salad, never had that before. Crispy, Crunchy lettuce and radish, binned the cucumber. so still not got fridge settings right
Reminds me of the time we were in US and I ordered a salad that was so huge I could hardly lift the plate, so we took most of it away in a doggy bag and put it in the fridge in our motel room. Next morning it was frozen into one solid lump. I tried chipping bits off but we ended up binning the lot

b: back to usual ff greek yog (after a week on low fat) but still in the habit of adding a little double cream along with seeds and blueberries

L: ham and cheese roll ups rolled around a little coleslaw. A Yes bar

D: 2 venison burgers and kale. 2 squares 100% in 2 tablespoons double cream

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee
Late morning: black coffee and mint carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a handful of pecans.
Dinner: spaghetti carbonara made with Explore Cuisine edamame ‘spaghetti’ followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

@maglil55 thanks for that recipe - looks delicious! Have added it to my collection for when I break out the Lakanto maple syrup.
@zauberflote Will this torture ever end?

Stupid food day - started sensibly TRE, concluded poorly
Lunch: hm cream of cauliflower soup, green leafy salad, 100g double-smoked ham, keto-friendly coffee
Dinner and supper and midnight and dawn snacks of: US Election coverage (high stress, low fibre), more coffee with sides of double-smoked ham and SF chocolate, no greenery, rotten sleep. Net carbs 32g

Evening all.

Really? I’m so glad I didn’t know about it before I moved away from London. I remember you talking about that NY ice cream place last year and being very envious.

@Annb I know how frustrating it is to have a medication "difficult to obtain"; my nasal inhaler is like that, and one of my other inhalers.
@ianpspurs that is quite the Amazon order!! I will (so far) only use Colavita oil, and every so often the biggest bottle is on sale for $5.00 off. I stock up and hide it in the dark depths of my pantry cupboard. We are not on any different lockdown (as to how I behave anyway) but I'm beginning to feel like a hostage to the exceeding slow grindings of the law-- ugh.
@Antje77 hoping it's ONLY a cold. It's all that fresh air the chickens bring in!
@DJC3 exactly!!!!
@Goonergal I believe I remember you raving over a chocolate ice cream in NYC!
@MrsA2 only way we get venison around here that I know of is to get out there and bag it or have a friend who shares! And if you are a deer hunter you had better know your regulations very very well!
@OzBlossom it really could take months!!! You just have to stop watching because all you'll see is talking heads filling time. The real action is being done behind the scenes as fast as humanly and legally possible by VOLUNTEERS! Clearly watching coverage is bad for our health and our carb levels. Get the NPR (National Public Radio) app and check it once a day. No talking heads.
Bfast avocado, fewer pecans, boiled egg while boiling more, 1.5 Lindt 90%, flax crisps/dilute soymilk.
4:00 cherry tomatoes, boiled egg, cottage cheese.
Supper pecans, cherry tomatoes, 3 macadamias, flax crisps/soy.
Goodnight all, sleep well, it will be what it will be don't borrow trouble, and good morning shortly!

05.11.2020
Breakfast CWC x2, nut Granola.
Lunch, fish soup, several slices of cheese, two defrosted radish, tea.
Dinner, steak with creamy pepper sauce, few chips, half a red pepper roasted along with the oven chips, and half a can of mushrooms. We need to get some shopping in.
Bad news in the evening. My brother phoned to tell me my nephew has cancer. Not an aggressive type, but shocking none the less in a fit young man. He has a young daughter and another baby on the way. Very distressing phone call for us both.
The my daughter called about her eldest brother, serious concerns there too. He has had to move fairly recently, split from his live in partner, changed job and moved hundreds of miles to a town where he knows nobody. Several hours driving from any of his family too. We had planned to stay with him for a while...But Lockdown....
I ate all the cake and the chocolate. It didn't stop me worrying but did send me to sleep.
Lockdown, what lockdown? We have people who need us. Having come from the safest area in France and spent two weeks in quarantine we should not be a risk to anyone.
There is the elderly aunt who has not had a visitor for months as well, begging us to go and stay for a few days.
My parents are now just down the road, but according to the new rules I cannot visit them and they are not allowed to meet us even out in the open.
My normally risk averse, rule abiding character is seriously torn as to the right thing to do in any of these situations.

@zauberflote don’t borrow trouble is another zinger*. Venison is widely available here and if I ate more red meat I would partake frequently just a pity no buffalo or crocodile nearby, unlike home sweet home. Menu (posted early): B = lake of Assam TWAM ; Dockey; Almond milk latte + SF caramel syrup and 40 gms Dr A, A choc; L Skinnybread egg mayo, lettuce and cucumber sandwich ,+ salad leaves + tea,; EM: Super salmon (yes, some cooked food) and avocado salad with much flaxseeds. Perfect day, no need to "contort myself into odd shapes" just to stay LC. Good salmon on hand and beautiful weather made this easy. I won’t go back to my previous 60 yrs WOE after 5+ yrs so I continue bending myself into the best LC shape I can manage and days like this in autumn ans winter make it easier. I just hope LC works a little longer*. I can see the logic of eating carnivore but I’m not flexible enough to be bent into that shape. Hug for all your troubles in one go @SlimLizzy . I can see how that would scupper full compliance with LC.
