What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Today, too hot to eat until 3:00pm, when I had a boiled egg with mayonnaise and iced coffee. Though I had been drinking water and black coffee throughout the day.
Dinner, salmon, coleslaw, olives, tonic water.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a phd bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a food dr bar.
Dinner: creamy garlic prawns with sautéed sliced courgette followed by SF strawberry jelly and cream.

Got side tracked yesterday, my partner slipped over and badly sprained her ankle. The ambo's took her inito the base hospital emergency room. She is tucked up nice and comfy in MacDoo*, enjoying the rest for a couple of days

For breakfast, couple of slices of toast and vegimite.
For smoko I had a packet of hospital cheese and ham sandwiches,
Hamburgers from the Hungry Tum takeaway shop for lunch.
Veggie curry from my Indian neighbour for supper at six.

MacDoo is a play on the inilals on the door of the unit MCDU, which stands for Medical Clinical Decisions Unit.

Yesterday was up at 05.30 out watering my plants that have any chance of survival. Had first mug of tea around 6 followed by another an hour later and a slice of LC toast. Lunch was scrambled eggs followed by a few mixed berries.
Supper was cold chicken and mixed salad. Peckish later and succumbed to a few teasps of crunch peanut butter. Will pay for that later.
Had more than enough of the extreme heat now. My wasp stinged arm is looking and feeling bad so call to doc in the morning. I think the heat isn’t helping it.

Hope she recovers well and gets home soon. I was pleased you explained MacDoo at the end!

Morning all. Going to be another hot one so take care. Yesterday I didn't feel much like food so just had a cheese and tomato sandwich with mayo at midday and at teatime 2 Ryvitas with butter and cheese plus 2 squares of 70% chocolate. Bedtime reading was 5.8, didn't believe it so did it again, 6.1!! Realised it means I eat too much! So another lesson learned. Been type 2 since 2009, you'd think I would know. So today, portion control comes first. Will be a sandwich again and perhaps 2 boiled eggs with buttered Ryvitas. Will also check readings before and after.

It's not going to be a hot one here! Temperature 7 am today was 14 and currently 15. Expected to be a high of 19. Humidity of 93% and virtually no wind. Feels quite comfortable outside but a bit cool inside. Possible thunder this afternoon.

Had the remainder of the liver and bacon about half an hour ago. It was a bit too spicy yesterday - I'd added mustard and ginger. Unfortunately, the ginger had become damp in the jar so I loosened it with a spoon and tipped a little into the pan. A little turned out to be the remainder of the jar. So today I added cream. Had that with one RyVita and butter. Not feeling very full, unfortunately, so might need a snack later on to keep me going.

Proper OMAD today with a starter and main course! Starter was air fried pork belly pieces. Main was a repeat of yesterday- mix of air fried chicken wings and lamb ribs. Yum!

@RosemaryJackson nothing wrong with those readings and your meals don’t sound too large either. Perhaps a touch on the carby side (depending on your target level), but portions don’t seem large at all.

I often wonder if I am eating too large a portion of my meals. The "diet plate" which indicates how much carb/protein/veg should be on it is not much help when there is nothing on the carb section. I'm never really sure how much of everything else should be there instead - not that I bother with the plate any more but I still wonder if I am having too much, since I'm not losing weight. I was thinking with one meal a day, it would work itself out, but maybe not.

I am hungry again, so today won't be OMAD after all and I found a plastic box labelled "gumbo" in the freezer. Can't remember if gumbo is the one with or without rice but I'll find out and, if there's no rice in it, I'll probably have a very small portion of that to stave off the pangs.

Couple of days catch up
Yesterday, no breakfast as early start to drive 3 hours inland to a funeral. Lovely service for lady who died a week short of her 102nd birthday.
On offer after were sugary drinks, orange juice or elderflower, sandwiches, sausage rolls and mini quiches, all very nicely done and upmarket but no good for me so I ate the 2 hard boiled eggs I'd brought with me and drank water :angelic:
and then succumbed to at least 3 mini cakes :bag::bag::bag:

Dinner was a McDonald's triple cheeseburger without the bun, and 2 glasses red wine, and a headache.38°
Uncomfortable nights sleep before a 6:30 am start of the 3 hour drive back to our holiday in comfortable 26°

Breakfast was a cooked chicken leg from the m&s at the services.
L: chicken and egg salad, a peach with clotted cream
Nice coastal dog walk in breeze. Resisted the ice cream van
D: burgers, mushrooms and courgette. Ice cream, camembert, 1 white wine with lots of soda

Hope you've all survived the heatwave

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a phd bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Dinner: Spanish chicken and roasted Mediterranean veggies followed by SF cherry jelly and cream.

Surprisingly yummy meal. :hungry:

I had some leftover spicy peanut sauce and added water and a stock cube.
I had a very small amount of leftover green beans with onion, cut them up and added them to the soup.
Had some leftover marinated pork belly pieces, cut them very small before frying.
Fried a small onion, a little bell pepper and garlic in the pan used for the pork belly.
Added everything to the soup, and when it was hot I added a raw and sliced chicory for a bit of fresh crunch.

I'm now a fan of peanut soup, next time I might make it without waiting for leftovers needing to be used up! :D

@Goonergal , I'm a bit worried.
I haven't seen your pretty fishy plates in ages (not that there is anything wrong with your other plates of course), please tell me you haven't broken them all right when our long postponed visit is looming on the horizon again?
Or is it just you aren't using them anymore to make sure you don't break it and I can bring one of the promised plates back to the Netherlands?

(This one, in case anyone is wondering: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/what-have-you-eaten-today.75781/page-1744#post-2208068
See, it was a promise, and it's only two and a half years back! :hilarious: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/what-have-you-eaten-today.75781/page-1746#post-2208620)

Brunch - kefir with mixed berries & drizzle of double cream over the top.

Dinner - Chicken & Avocado with large side salad. Strawberries & double cream.

I drank loads of water & pepsi max it has been sooo warm today.

Thanks for the laugh @Antje77 ( I can only give ‘like’ on the app which is a shame)
I’m another one wondering if my portions are too large. I’ve put on weight and I feel like I have a cushion strapped to my waist. I think I’ll have to start tracking again.
11:30 first meal of Turkey and salad( leaves, turmeric&ginger sauerkraut, avocado, h/m mayo) unsweetened stewed rhubarb with coconut cream.
Cod, 2 types of crumb coating a) blitzed chilli pork crackling - golden colour in photo. B) milled flaxseed and sesame seeds. Sauteed samphire, Halloumi fries, tomato and avocado salad. 2 glasses dry white. Hmm it might be the wine causing the spare tyre. I’ll have to stop. IMG_0531.jpg
