What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Sorry, pressed post by mistake. Todays food diary is; 2 chilli bratwurst , salad, some cold meats and 2 buttered Ryvitas. Am not eating so much and it's helping my levels. My fbg was 6.2 this morning, can't remember the last time it was as low.

@Goonergal @PenguinMum @Antje77 , I know i should have been assertive and challenged it, but I was out for a pleasant evening and didn't want an argument. Next time maybe.

B" seeds ff greek and raspberries
Hilly dog walk (the coast path sure goes up and down a lot!)
L: 1 bite of hubbys crab sandwich, a cup of mint tea. Then we shared a one scoop icecream.
Then repeated the hilly walk back. Thinking how the hard working big muscles are supposed to burn off the sugar certainly motivated me on the up bits.
D:bbq pork belly with broccoli

Thank you all for hugs I’m definitely slowly improving mainly just feeding tired but no proper hunger yet.
Throughout the day a few spoons of hm yoghurts mainly to try and take some nutrition on board.
5ish small piece of spiced chicken and salad. I’ve treated myself to some low carb oppo ice cream on online grocery delivery and may have some later as a treat.

Fishy plates are top of the pile since having their pics taken! Another OMAD today - more intentionally than the previous ones. 20% mince fried with chopped smoked streaky bacon and 2 fried eggs.

Lunch tomorrow with an old colleague. Last food I saw him post on FB was an entirely vegan spread, so I’m very interested to see where he suggests we eat. I can always fast :hilarious:.

Late morning: black coffee and phd bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Dinner: crispy cheese omelette with sliced baby tomatoes (inside) followed by SF cherry jelly and cream.

PT in the park this morning so no breakfast. BG peaked at 9.3 after the session!
L- scrap of smoked salmon. H/b egg, avocado grated courgette and h/m mayo. Raspberries and h/m yoghurt to follow.
Mid aft Montezuma’s 100% with peppermint.
D- after watching granddaughter’s school play I promised McDonalds on the way home. I think this will be my last visit, I feel a bit sick and headachy after 2x bunless double cheeseburgers. Wish I’d gone without but the smell always makes me think I want it.

Still no eggs available and Em is having a sleepover tonight so I am conserving my 3 remaining eggs for her to have breakfast. But I did use up to last of the bacon and 2 slices of black pudding for my meal today.

I finally ordered some ham from Amazon and it arrived today. It's better than nothing, but only just so it will be coming into play tomorrow while Neil goes back to town and tries to get more of the things I want on the shopping list. The ham should be OK rolled up with cheese. Should make it taste a bit better. I have 500 g of it to use up. I think I will actually have to add salt to it, it is so bland.

Hi all

Wonder why that idea of oppo icecream crossed my mind - I hadn't ordered or eaten it in over 2 years I tend usually to just blend up or mix in frozenberries with some cream or yoghurt to get instant ice cream that I like but the oppo looked tempting when making online order. Ive got an unsettled post covid digestion so should have stuck to plain non ultra processed food which is what I mainly do. I really enjoyed an oppo ice cream stick with almonds yesterday evening - it reminded be of pre low carb times and although a bit high in carbs for me usually at 11g per smallish lolly I have eaten so little of anything for more than a week thought it would be ok carb wise - and think as fasting bloods this morning were 4.5 Im sure it didnt impact my blood sugars BUT did it impact my digestion!! Had really bad bout of stomach upset middle of the night so went searching for box this morning to check ingredients especially which sweetners as Im normally fine with eyrthritol and inulin and discovered that main sweetner used is Maltitol it's also got a fair few stabilisers and emulsifiers in it....... so its clearly on my no no list for the future.

Up early with my tummy so ate earlier to try and settle it - cooked two eggs scrambled in butter usually gentle on my gut and they seem to have done the trick I think.
will have small amount of hm yoghurts at lunchtime
Dinner plan is for salmon in lemon butter possibly with a couple of green beans from the garden. Small amounts of simple food seem to be order of the day while I allow my body to recover.

Wednesday 20 July - bed 7.5 FBG 7.8

Had the boys today but they decided to stay in and play with Lego. It was handy as I had to drive Hubby to football later (with boys in tow) plus I didn't feel quite right. I think it's the humidity.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with pate

L. A bit crustless quiche

D. 2 bits of GF haggis, 2 bits of halloumi with chilli and a fried egg (boys were back home but I still had to go back to collect Hubby again).

Thursday 21 July - bed 6.6 FBG 7.1 Showing signs of getting back to more normal readings I hope! I'm back to Aquafit/zumba and a swim today. My legs badly need it.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with pate.

L. A bit crustless quiche when I got back from Aqua/swimming. Then out again to give DIL a lift to have coffee with a friend and we took one boy each (they were bickering).

D. Once everyone was back in their own abodes, that pork, cheese & onion sausage we had last week, with 1/2 cob and last 2 bits of the halloumi with chilli.

BGs have been a lot better today thanks to the Aqua/swimming so I need to get back into a routine again. Nice to see a lot of familiar faces still there too. I've been stuck as grandson came to me for lunch but, in senior school lunch is later so it doesn't collide with Aqua classes. Even better, my favourite instructor is back too. A bit of an ache this morning but that will pass.20220720_192811.jpg20220721_192523.jpg

No breakfast.
Dog walk, in the mist and light rain!!! What heatwave?lol
L: salad with chicken and camembert. Ff greek yog topped with double cream. 1 small peach
D out at a restaurant. Plaice in a very tasty tarragon sauce. Asked for the chips to be swapped for salad instead. Was miffed to be charged extra for the salad and given no reduction for not having the chips. Cheese board where I gave crackers, grapes and honey to hubby. 1 glass white topped up with loads of water
I do get annoyed it costs more to be diabetic when eating out
The restaurants we frequent usually ask, when I say I can't eat chips, "Can we swap them for something else?" I find it rare to be charged if it is a reasonable switch.

Are there just no eggs in the shops on the islands? Is it delivery problems with the ferries again?

No need to have worried about lunch. Reason for friend’s vegan FB posts are 1 vegan and 1 vegetarian son. Wound up in a restaurant where I ordered steak and eggs, with bacon in place of the potatoes. Bavette steak was very over cooked but otherwise all ok. Left me slightly hungry - not enough fat so I’ve finished off a quarter pot of cream cheese lurking in the fridge.

Editing to say @shelley262 maltitol is the work of the devil! Most effective laxative I’ve ever come across. Sends my BG sky high too!

Eggs seem to be in short supply. It seems that, if you get there at the right time, they are available. Neil went early this morning and bought 2 dozen for me. Maybe 8 am shopping is the trick. However, it means he's done the supermarket shopping before anything else opens so misses out that way. He actually bought some ham as well this morning - just when I have 500 g of the other ham to use up.

Just been picking at bits of less than pleasant ham all day today. Couldn't even be bothered to get cheese out to go with it. Feeling pretty nauseous again, so shan't have any meal today. Em had pancakes followed by jelly for her breakfast.

Hugs for the upset stomach last night @shelley262 I had the same thing after bunless McDonalds cheeseburger yesterday. Didn’t enjoy it and it caused havoc with my tum.
Todays food:
B- 2 boiled eggs
L- SLC roll with Turkey and turmeric&ginger sauerkraut.
Mid aft- DGF cookie
D- Airfried chicken thighs, big mushroom stuffed with ham and cheese, broccoli drizzled with sesame oil. White wine in the sun earlier and red wine now.

No breakfast.
Dog walk 1 was shorter than planned because we wanted to visit a local market.
Bought cheeses, local blue, sheep's and cheddar
Also new shorts and a dress from a second hand stall. Bargains.
L: camembert and m&s seedy crackers. Half a peach and a strawberry with cream.
Lazy afternoon while hubby slept.
2 hour walk before supper. Lovely views and weather.
D: cheeses, crackers, 2 cherry tomatoes, spoonful coleslaw. Raspberries and cream. 1 glass white wine with lots of soda.
10 o clock mini icecream

Not much on the low carb menu, partner is home from the hospital yesterday so it was basically mre's to eat.

Bacon and eggs and toast and vegimite for breakfast.
MRE Spag Bol for lunch.
Chicken legs and microwaved mediteranean veggies gravy for supper at six.

After a truly horrendous 24 or so hours with my legs, I've only had some water until about an hour ago. I did break my fast then - once I could get up onto my legs - with some of the ham rolled up with some cream cheese. Dozed off again and had a slight problem with gastric reflux while dreaming about eating a sweet cake. My stomach clearly can't cope with sweet cake even in a dream.

Still not feeling strong but I'm hoping to have some baked cauliflower with some baked haddock. Easy enough to do but I might not. Just having my first cup of tea. That might brighten me up a bit.
