What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

@Annb youre clearly having even more tough times take care and hugs from me - I think I’m not infectious but I’m still testing positive for Covid so it’s a cautious virtual hug.
Sleep very beneficial when we can get a good night and I had 14 hours last night which has helped my recovery although still little hunger and small amounts but determined to take nutrition on board
10ish two boiled eggs
Lunch a couple of bits of cheese about an ounce in total with a couple of Brazil nuts and walnuts and 2 low carb seeded crackers with teaspoon of my hm cultured veggies followed by a few teaspoons of my hm yoghurts
5ish 2 spoons of hm chicken curry which usually have with cauliflower rice but wasn’t up to so instead cooked some couscous for OH and had one spoon (10g) which works out at 2.3 g of carbs so that may be a keeper if can keep to small amounts also had some hm mint raita . To drink,as not yet fit enough to drink any alcohol, had soda water with a dash of cranberry bitters - did really enjoy my small dinner so must be on way back to normal.

So glad to hear you are slightly better, Shelley, and hope you are well on the road to recovery now. This covid as a heck of a thing, isn't it? I think people are being a bit too blase about it now. We've gone from absolute fear to a kind of not-to-worry attitude. But there are still lots of people getting it - especially here in Scotland. The Western Isles hospital first closed its surgical ward last week, and then the rest of the hospital, due to covid. We were just getting back to normal too with our medical services.

Edited to add:
Alistair - our postie son, had his gall bladder removed a few months ago after struggling for months to keep going at work through some awful pain. But he had surgery and got back to work (before he should have) and had to work through the recovery period. Recently, he went down with his second dose of covid and was pretty ill with it, so went off work again. He now has some other thing that feels like covid, but he's testing negative. He's exhausted, coughing and struggling to keep going but he feels that he has to because he been given an official warning about taking too much time off sick! He caught his covid at work where people were coming in to work, carrying the covid virus and not wearing masks despite government recommendations at that time. Not sure what the Royal Mail is coming to in terms of staff welfare. He's been with the Royal mail for over 25 years now and never a complaint against him. I'm very indignant.

Thank you. I think I’m normally quite a fit person but have been really affected especially in my gut and the sheer tiredness but think I’ve had a mild version really and body has fought back but almost two weeks on I’m not back to my normal high energy busy self I’ll get there I just need patience which is hard and need to be well for going up to yorks mid week on caring visit so hoping testing negative by then.

Glad you’re a bit better @shelley262

Do take it easy as you recover.

Today was yet another OMAD, this time with a longer fast as I’d had lunch with a friend yesterday and was meeting another friend today for a walk and evening meal so probably 28 hours between meals. A delicious one too at a restaurant in town - friend was heading to the opera. Small Picanha with a lamb cutlet and a strip of pork belly. Then as we were both still hungry I had 2 more lamb chops! Nicely stuffed now. No pics as I was too busy shovelling it down!

Yoghurt, first try at homemade good live bacteria one. Not very thick and different taste but OK with seeds and a strawberry
Long dog walk, cup of mint tea halfway round at a very quiet beach. Bit cloudy and cold kept the crowds away. So different to last week.
Mid afternoon cheese and crackers
D: fathead pizza, but the oven here doesn't have markings on so was a bit undercooked in parts! 1 white wine with loads of soda. Some 70% chocolate that was special in lidl

B: iced coffee.
L: two porkchops converted into pork jerky. Porkchops cut into long pieces. Then, marinated with soy sauce, sesame oil and SF tomato sauce. Seasoned with chili powder, asian white pepper, garlic powder and cumin (then cooked in air fryer). Very satisfying. After lunch: couple of glasses of unsweetened ice tea (currently, McDonalds is running a special $1USD for a 1.0l unsweetened ice tea).

Too early for dinner currently.

ETA: Dinner. two 1/4 lb hamburgers (80/20) with one provolone slice with sauerkraut and half an avocado. Used salt, pepper and SF tomato sauce (1TBSP) for seasoning.

Didn’t post yesterday as we left home at silly o’clock to attend my daughter’s, delayed from last year, graduation. I had my usual breakfast, then a family lunch out which was lovely, I had a ‘butcher’s brunch’ I’ll let you guess which bits I gave away! Then I had two kfc drumstix for dinner on route home.
Todays food:
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: black coffee and a phd bar.
Dinner: coronation chicken with a leafy salad, two baby tomatoes and coleslaw followed by SF blackcurrant jelly and cream.

Morning all. Kept the carbs right down yesterday except for 1 slice bread with butter and smoked trout (just remembered that @MrsA2) so hopefully salt intake was ok. I still have vertigo but not as bad as yesterday, every time I turned my head I felt like a whirlygig!. My cracked rib is much more comfortable, but I have a pulled muscle now. Plus cataarh. Ever since my daughter died, everything has gone wrong but I'm hoping that visiting my son in America in September will change my luck. I hope so. Today, I've had 2 chilli bratwurst for bf 4g carbs. Midday it will be roasted chicken drumsticks and green veg with a smidgeon of gravy with a teaspoonful of mint in it. Tonight 2 boiled eggs and 2 buttered Ryvitas. That should keep me under 20g of carbs. Can't find a 'hopeful' emoji.

Another day of best laid plans etc. Under serious challenge from pain killers, I finally managed to stagger to the fridge to get out some cheese and the rubbish ham I'm trying to use up. So I kind of snacked on that for the rest of the day. Seriously down on all nutrition and on fluids and went to bed early but, of course, couldn't stay there. However, went back again this morning and slept off and on until about 8.30. Had to get up to take more pain killers. So I am up, have had some tea and a couple of teaspoons of yoghurt (with the pain killers, to get them down). I'm giving up on the idea of plans meantime and shall just eat what I can reach without too much difficulty.

Before Zi report @Annb I am sorry you are having such a tough time. Also @shelley262 hope the Covid improves and you can enjoy food again.
Yesterday and today my usual brekkie of slice LC toast and lots of tea. NB. I haven’t been able to get HiLo recently and am using Kingsmill crustless wholemeal which is around 7g per slice. Lunch yesterday was prawns and lettuce. Supper was h/m chicken curry and cauli rice preceded by two large glasses Gordons White Peach gin and soda and lots of ice.
Lunch today was a few bits of cold bbq leftover meat defrosted with spoon coleslaw.
Supper will be more of same with salad. My freezer drawers are all stuffed and I need to start using the contents so meals might be a mismatched for a while.

After a truly horrendous 24 or so hours with my legs, I've only had some water until about an hour ago. I did break my fast then - once I could get up onto my legs - with some of the ham rolled up with some cream cheese. Dozed off again and had a slight problem with gastric reflux while dreaming about eating a sweet cake. My stomach clearly can't cope with sweet cake even in a dream.

Still not feeling strong but I'm hoping to have some baked cauliflower with some baked haddock. Easy enough to do but I might not. Just having my first cup of tea. That might brighten me up a bit.
Sorry you're having such a bad time. I feel you never seem to get solutions to your issues.

My son kept testing positive but he was told that he wasn't infectious any more (I think that was after 5 days). They said that the test was probably picking up dead virus.

Friday 22 July - bed 6 8 FBG 7.1

@shelley262 glad you are improving. I was floored during my first infection but got over it eventually. I found getting back to Aqua and swimming made a huge difference. @Riva_Roxaban Happy your partner is home again. Here's to a good recovery!

B. TAG and a bit crustless quiche

L. Nothing

D. Didn't fancy anything cooked so, I ended up with 2 slices of SLC bread as open sandwiches with lurpack, guacamole, 4 santini tomatoes and M&S prawn cocktail which was getting due to be eaten. I had a pack of M&S pancetta crisps with it
Really enjoyed it.

Saturday 23 July - bed 7 FBG 7.2

B. TAG and 2 slices of SLC toast with ox tongue and whipped cheese. Off to jujitsu with the boys.

L. Nothing out shopping. Made the mistake of going to M&S and was distracted by their Good Moves gym wear at 50% off on some pieces. It would have been rude not to buy some!

D. Cold cuts - wafer thin roast beef, ham, smoked chicken with coronation sauce, ox tongue, pork &egg, 1/2 avocado, tomatoes, port salut cheese.

I've had a niggling abdominal pain that comes and goes. Trouble is, with my mixed up nervous system, it's difficult to assess where it is originating from. To top it, vertigo is back! I've had 2 "incidents" one of which left me very queasy. I'll be careful and see how it goes but, if it persists, I'll be doing the drop move onto the bed to see if it settles. 20220722_182504.jpg

I feel for you with the vertigo. Mine has returned. Nothing worse than everything spinning. Thankfully, it usually goes of its own accord.

B: 2 eggs scrambled, 2 rashers bacon and 6 button mushrooms. Rather burned in places as this house were are staying in has no markings on its cooker! And very heavy iron frying pans
Another 2 hour coastal walk with the dogs. Beautiful views, not too hilly and not too warm as breezy.
3pm stopped at cafe and ended up having halloumi fries with harissa mayo. Of course they were prepared ones in breadcrumb and probably fried in veg oil, but they did taste good. Big portion too, so both hubby and the dogs helped me out.
1 mini icedream on return home.
D: nothing yet, might just have cheeses on seedy crackers

Christened my new cast iron pan today - it was only just big enough for the steak! Reverse seared the steak using air fryer, then transferred to the pan to finish. Then put one or two of the big fatty bits into the air fryer to crisp up. On a decent OMAD roll.
