What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Shared a tin of tuna with our 2 cats for breakfast before heading to early yoga.

Sadly we had to say goodbye to our girl cat this morning. Hubby and son took her to vets while I was out. She was 18 and had been ill for a long time, but worse the past few days. Not unexpected but still sad.
I'm so sorry.
Glad you shared your tuna before saying goodbye though!

Happy cruising @shelley262

@MrsA2 so sorry about your cat, 18 is a terrific age, but must make it even harder to say goodbye. I loved the fact you shared her last breakfast with her.

My food today:
B- 2 h/b eggs mashed with butter and an Edam cracker.
Busy morning/lunchtime at village fete. Didn’t eat until I got home at 3
L- salad leaves, another h/b egg, turkey slices sauerkraut. DGF cake.
D- Fiesta night at Treway farm where the lovely pastured beef comes from. I was designated driver so Coke Zero to drink ( yuk) One of the girls there remembered I ate a keto diet ( she is carnivore) so she put a sirloin steak on the bbq for me instead of the burger that everyone else got with their entry ticket. She even sliced it up so I could eat it with my fingers. It was gorgeous. IMG_3029.jpg

Yesterday’s meals. I wasn’t hungry so I skipped breakfast. Lunch was salad leaves and tomatoes, from the garden, along with cucumber and a few pine nuts, a spoon of coleslaw a boiled egg and a couple of slices of ham. Evening meal was a bowl of homemade(Keto) cauli and stilton soup along with a wrap (from the Seriously Low Carb place) with avocado mayo, more salad leaves and tomato and ham.

I love the low carb wraps. They are my favourite of all the products I’ve tried from them.

Those wraps are great, aren’t they? I’ve used them to make fajitas plus for mopping up curry.
Even better when warmed through in a pan first.

Unfortunately they’re sold out at the moment. I keep checking eagerly!
Yes, I shall buy some more for the freezer when they‘re back in stock.

B - Bulletproof coffee and kefir to wash down medication.
L - 2 slices Emmental and 2 slices of tinned corned beef. 3 cherry tomatoes and hard boiled egg. Coffee with double cream
D - bowl of homemade tuna casserole with a bit of feta sprinkled on top
lots of water throughout the day.

Evening all

Today:

We had planned a celebration picnic lunch at a favourite nature reserve. I knew my cousin had made a caprese salad, so took along marinated olives and pesto sauce to share and made portable sesame tofu kebabs in lettuce wraps. Unfortunately, the weather was indifferent (not cold, but blustery) so, following our scheduled wildlife safari, we decamped to my cousin's home where we dined al fresco on her patio.

B: Two eggs scrambled in butter with a generous dollop of double cream, sautéed chestnut mushrooms and a tomato, garnished with flat-leaf parsley and seasoned with a grinding or two of black pepper.
Water to swallow tablets
Espresso.

L; Aperitif: gin on the rocks with half a slice of lemon.
Grilled sesame tofu kebabs in a lettuce wrap. Prawns picante. Caprese skewers using baby plum tomatoes, mozzarella, basil leaves and oregano with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette, marinated olives and pesto sauce.
Strawberries and cream.
Water to drink.
Espresso.

D: Salad made with anchovy fillets, eggs, avocado, celery, Romano peppers, sweet cicely and salad onions with a dollop of leftover pesto sauce for dipping, topped with toasted pistachios and chopped parsley.
Water to swallow tablets.

Thursday 13 July - bed 8 FBG 7.4. I've had a busy few days so I'm a little behind again! Got to my aqua again. Yet again, it was a very energetic class, which I was grateful for. My left ankle has been swelling, and oddly, energetic exercise in water really helps. On return home, I went on with stripping the bedrooms down and changing the beds. I can't remember if I said that I accidentally wrecked my drying pod. I've replaced it with an extending drying rack that lets me adjust it to dry bedding in wet weather. Thankfully, it also folds pretty flat when not in use.

B. TAG and 2 slices of SRSLY toast with egg mayo. Benecol dairy free.

L. A bit of crustless quiche

D. Chicken salad with egg, mozzarella, and avocado. I also had an experiment with cauliflower rice to make "suppli." Usually made with risotto rice, but it worked. I had bits of pancetta in it, parmesan, and mozzarella.
CC little chocolate pot.
Gin and zero lemonade. I needed it! To my horror, I discovered my Eye Pavilion appointment was in my phone diary twice. Once was for 9 15am tomorrow! Early rise is coming up in case as it takes 1 hr to get there.

@PenguinMum - hope you feel better now & @shelley262 have a wonderful cruise and anniversary. 20230713_190934.jpg

Friday 14 July - bed 7.9 FBG 7.6 Turns out my Eye Pavilion appointment was this morning. I did make it. My consultant was highly delighted with the results of the surgery. Vision is excellent, and the eye pressure is still falling. I'm back in 7 months, and she's asked me to stop my drops I use twice a day 1 month before as she reckons the pressure will stay down. I had to laugh when she said there is no point in "marinating your eyeballs" if we don't have to!

B. TAG only. I had to get out the door quickly to get there.

L. A bit of crustless quiche. Benecol dairy free.

D. After taking son shopping (I did mine after eye Pavilion visit). I made a sweet chilli chicken with chicken strips, chopped peppers, SRSLY sweet chilli sauce, and cauliflower fried rice. CC little chocolate pot.
I did have a couple of gins with zero lemonade to celebrate the excellent eye results. 20230714_191219.jpg

Spent the day in London with my daughter :)
Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: coffee shop coconut cappuccino and a carb killa bar.
Skipped lunch.
Mid afternoon: coffee shop coconut cappuccino and Kind bar (not tried one before, a little higher carb than my usual snack bars, but very tasty!)
Dinner at a Brazilian Rodizio restaurant, the type where you have a buffet of salad and then the waiters bring round various joints of meat and carve off what you’d like, very good for low carbing!

B: 2 scrambled eggs
L: a piece of shwarna chicken left from last night (Waitroses, very good. 900g Precooked weight said seves 6 and it nearly did)
D: out for celebration meal. Thought I'd made relatively sensible choices but libre says not. Highest I've ever been and lowest, steepest drop.
I had a cocktail to start that was billed as prosecco and soda with watermelon juice, but it was so very sweet (and strong) I'm sure something else was in there. Then dips, baba ganoush (aubergine) sakusa (veg) and humus (chickpea) I did have 2 small strips of flatbread then used a spoon. Main was shared grilled meats with salad. 1 glass red wine. Fresh mint tea. Did try a couple of sips of others liqueur coffees, but tiny sips.
And look what it's done to me!!! Just as well it's only once every 30 years (anniversary). Low seems to be bottoming out at 3.7.
Tomorrow will be interesting

BTW, the 87 year old T2 friend who joined us who ignores his diabetes totally had
Pina colada
Dips and lots of bread
Meats salad and whole portion chips
Liqueur coffee
No idea what his bg is. Nurse says he's "ok":banghead: but he's cut out tea and coffee because he needs to pee a lot :banghead: :banghead::banghead:

I put my money on the 'cocktail to start that was billed as prosecco and soda with watermelon juice'. If it didn't say 'without added sugar' I'd expect it to be with added sugar. Especially seeing your sharp spike, that looks like it has been caused by fast acting sugars.
I wouldn't believe that 3.7 unless confirmed with a fingerprick. Libre tends to exaggerate low numbers for many, and it also extrapolates drops and rises to come up with the most likely number at that time, so your sharp drop could well have caused an extrapolated low while you were still around 5 or such.

No matter what happened BG-wise, your celebration meal sounds wonderful, and I'd celebrate more often than once every 30 years if I were you!

Glad you stopped lurking and took the plunge!
Those SRSLY wraps are great aren’t they? I’ve used them as a pizza base too and they work really well as long as you spread the sauce right to the edge so it doesn’t burn. Only takes about 10 mins in the airfryer.

Edit to add…..Oh, wrong wraps! I haven’t tried the SRSLY ones ( but I like their bread) I use the Deliciously Guilt Free wraps which are also excellent.

I haven’t looked at all at Deliciously Guilt Free, I’ll check them out.

Yesterday was egg and bacon for breakfast, chill with cauli rice for lunch followed by GY with seeds and a little grated dark chocolate and evening meal was SLC wrap with salad and cheese filling and a home made keto blueberry muffin.

No breakfast today. For lunch lamb steak with chard, courgette and mushroom stir fry followed by same GY as yesterday. This evening I’ll have a cheese omelette with a few salad leaves.

Can anyone tell me how to add a photo please. When I try with the ‘attach files’ it goes on with the file name across the front, which cant be right.
