Brunch - f/f greek yoghurt with berries and double cream. Cup of earl grey with double cream.:cat::cat:

Dinner Breast of chicken with pancetta and a white wine and cream sauce with mediterranean vegetables and broccoli. mini dark chocolate egg filled with peanut butter and cream.

@Annb - I see what you mean what a load of /carb heavy food - definitely not what I would recommend to a diabetic :banghead:

@Goonergal - I loved your brekkie - my mouth is watering at the sound of it. :hungry:

@Annb words fail me!
Today I had several black coffees on the drive up to London.
Lunch was a picnic in a motorway services car park: flaxseed bun filled with turkey, coleslaw and lettuce. Then. DGF choc orange brownie.
Mid afternoon one Montezuma’s Absolute black peanut butter mini egg. Yes just 1! To celebrate finding Prebooked parking space and hotel in central London without too much trouble.
Dinner: I thought would be easier but most places open for c&c / delivery only do had a job finding somewhere to eat in. Had a nice curry in the end - chicken tikka and a large spoonful of mushroom Bhaji and saag paneer. 2 glasses red wine and a gin and soda in a pub beforehand.
2 more mini eggs on return to hotel. Cleaned my teeth quickly to stop myself eating the whole lot.

Breakfast: my usual low carb coconut ‘porridge’ with strawberries and cream washed down with a black coffee.
Late morning: black coffee with Cookies and cream phd bar.
Lunch, I missed as I was at a very quiet orthopaedic hospital having a pre op appt with my consultant for some long awaited elective surgery next month.
A snack of pork scratchings when I got home.
Dinner: salmon fillets with creamy pepper sauce and mixed veg followed by SF jelly, cream and LC chocolate granola.

@Antje77 - I love buratta. Not the easiest to find - Sainbury's are usually the best, but great when you do. @shelley262 - I too have had the first cut and tint. Wonderful it is! @DJC3 - Eldest grandson is the same age, 9. He is at least starting to go out and play again but he's very nervous. Goodness knows what it will be like trying to get them into school again. He really isn't happy about the constant changes.
A bit of catching up again. Monday - bed 7 6 FBG 7.3. I was still shattered and the back bedroom was incredibly warm.
B. TAG and a slice of LC toast with oate.
L. Nothing.
D. More of the chicken & sausage "pie" with a mini cob. 4 Stawberries and cream.

Hubby not eating so I can't really be bothered. He slept most of the day and is refusing to take dioralyt. Close to forcibly pouring water down his throat! Why do men have to be so difficult when ill? He's also wondering why I keep disinfecting the bathrooms/handles etc. I've explained I've been ill long enough!

Haven't decided what I'll do with it yet so I'll be very happy to hear how you like to use it!
I simply have it with a salad. Usually avocado, tomato, little lettuce and a few walnut halves. The burrata is so creamy and delicious it doesn't need anything else. Sliced heart of palm (comes in tins) or artichoke hearts go well with it too.

@DJC3 pleased you had good journey to London hope tomorrow goes well.
@Rachox great that moving towards your op will be great to get it done eventually
Lunch one slice of bacon and egg on half a toasted chaffle followed by two lc truffles
Dinner pork chop, stuffed mushrooms and celeriac chips followed by a few berries from garden with cream.
Struggled with our local pools booking system today took ages - they open in a limited way on Friday and I’m crossing fingers I’m booked in for Friday morning but need to ring and check tomorrow as very glitchy it portal think will take a while to get used to the new system. You also cannot use the showers - just quickly dry off and leave so not sure what sort of experience it will be! Will let you know!
Planning OMAD tomorrow as having evening with friends tomorrow so will give me more flexibility. Probably will record next on Friday.

Bed 7.1 FBG 6.8. Weather was awful yesterday. It was bin day too and with Hubby incapacitated it was down to me. My neighbour is away until Thursday so I was sorting her bins too. Today, Tuesday was much better weather wise so I was busy getting washing on and out and disinfecting the bathrooms again before heading out to rake DIL to sort out her studio for reopening, take her shopping then a trip to M&S to pick up some T Shirts for No 1 (who is growing like a weed) and a visit to the foodhall. Lovely to be instore again. I also managed a trip to the chiropodist.
Hubby didn't make it to bed last night. Too many visitations! Since it continued, I came back armed with Imodium and no choice was given! In between all this
B. TAG, 4 GF crackers, 2 with pate, 2 with Dairylea triangles.
L. Nothing - was out and about on my various travels.
D. Brought bits and bobs from M&S - some Honduran prawns, fresh anchovies yellow and red peppers and a slice of Hilo with butter. 4 strawberries and cream.

Hubby took off to bed in the afternoon possibly to escape me forcing Imodium, water and orange Lucozade on him

Bed 7.7 FBG 7. @Mrs T 123 - Thanks for the hug. Sick Hubby and stressed grandson can get to you. @Annb - not a lot I can say about that. I recall when I had my first diabetic "course" I was told something similar. They even served biscuits with tea and coffee at the breaks! @DJC3 - Hope all goes well tomorrow.
I am glad to report that having force fed Hubby with Imodium he is now on the mend. Had the boys here today and they helped me get into the corners in the bathroom. Like me they glove up but they actually like cleaning bathrooms!
B. TAG, slice of Hilo with pate.
L. Nothing
D. Son had made sausages so had 2 of them air fried with a double yolk egg and a slice of Hilo and butter. 2 squares of Godiva.

Despite everything going on it's been another day where I feel normal.

B: nothing
2 hour walk with friend, lovely day weather wise
L: chicken thigh, 2 tablespoons coleslaw . Yoghurt and blueberries 1 thick slice wholemeal bread as a test. First bread since dx in March. Sure enough took me up to 10. So that will be my last bread
D: a tasty mix of high meat sausages with onion, kale, peppers, spinach finished within chilli and a spoonful of cream cheese. Aka whatever was in fridge thrown together. But was very very tasty.
Still hungry hours later so seeds with some double cream and a few raspberries

Garden starting to produce loads of courgettes and beans and spinach. Hedgerows full of blackberries, sloes and plums

That was exactly my thought!
@Goonergal I’m not mentioning the chocolate spread and pickled onion to her - she’d think it was brilliant.

I used to enjoy marmite and lemoncurd together.

Looking at all these childhood combinations reminds me of the current salted caramel fashion.
I wonder if we (at least as children) have a craving for salty/sour + sweet, just as adults are now enjoying salt + caramel sweet.
Just speculation, of course.
I love choc and peanut butter together, but it has to be salty peanut butter. Unsalted nuts would just be meh.

Hope today goes well @DJC3

Interesting.

I took a call from the LRI Pharmacy yesterday to let me know the balance of omy medication was in for me to collect. As it is a "Consultant only - Red Flag" medication, I have no choice, but to have the script filled at the hospital.

As Leicester is in (hopefully) the final day of a relaxed lockdown, I decided I'd hot foot in and collect. The hospital pharmacy is, literally, in the carpark, right by the entrance.

The hospital footprint was mayhem! Parking was dire, to the extent I eventually stopped in the Drop off & Collect only (20 minute) zone. I never usually do that, as I'm perfectly fit to walk, and what's a few minutes stroll, in the scheme of things, but with the lockdown still in place, I didn't fancy the walk back from the distant multi-story.

Anyway, it all worked out, as I just had to go into the (empty) pharmacy (people were waiting outdoors - lovely day), passed the memory test (name, DoB and Address) and walked out with my meds, and home.

Whilst impressed by the pharmacy's efficiency, I was astonished and horrified how busy the hospital was.

Curious times.

Glad your long-awaiting op is coming much closer.

I wonder if that difference is because I went to an Orthopaedic hospital rather than a general hospital?

No idea, but there just seemed so many people around, and lots and lots of couples.

It was early afternoon, maybe just around 14:00, but I'm not sure what any visiting regimes might be, bearing in mind the Leicester status. I had a Metabolic Bone Clinic appointment, earlier in the month, done by telephone, so not even sure how many clinics are happening F2F.

Hopefully, I'll not be back for a while, although, once my clinic letter comes, I'll have an armful of bloods to be done.

Why can't I just get back to this way of eating I do well then struggle. Had another restless night then dosed off around 4am these cold mornings I just stay in bed till about 12.30pm

My bsl was 5.7 mmol/L @ 12:45pm Brunch today I had paleo granola with Greek FF yoghurt and black coffee

Dinner 2 pork sausages 2 fried eggs and a chaffle forgot to test before dinner but after was 5.5 mmol/L

Then watched the new Charlie's angel movie I was going so well then the cravings started so I thought I could have a strawberry but waited 2 hours later after dinner my BSL was 5.7 mmol/L so ate the strawberry then I think I should not have eaten it next I'm eating some chocolate and handful of chops. Tomorrow is another day I can do this.

@Annb its unbelievable even saying to use margarine how do dietitians get trained to tell people to eat this way is beyond a joke. I was given the same advice told to eat a muffin for morning tea bread for breakfast and lunch sadly I was also on prednisone as well although I was malnourished due to my UC but eating like that on top of prednisone I ballooned lucky I didn't put on all the 20killos I lost. I know what to do now just trying to keep up with it again

People who think they know everything.
Good luck @DJC3 - I'll be thinking of you xx

@Rachox - good luck for your op xx

@Annb - I was given a diet sheet a lot like that one. I followed it for a bit - which, even at that time, seemed less healthy than I had been eating - and then had another Hba1c which was when I got put on insulin. No surprise really.

I'm really enjoying those stories of little ones' food combinations. My daughter didn't like combination foods when she was young so, for instance, if I gave her a peanut butter and banana sandwich she would open it up and eat the banana, then scrape off and eat the peanut butter and finally eat the bread.

I got a letter cancelling my long awaited appointment with specialist about my arthritis. No excuse, no explanation, no alternative appointment.:shifty:

BGs are still high  Yesterday was another day with them all over 10 and FBG was 10.3 this morning - definitely not a good start to the day!

Breakfast: boiled eggs and buttered Burgen soldiers
Lunch: egg mayo with a bit of salad
Dinner: sort of cross between a pizza and a kebab -
Lo-Dough with brushed with butter and topped with garlic and mozzarella then lightly baked as a flatbread
the remainder of the packet of Oumph! only 1.7g of carb per 100g https://groceries.asda.com/product/sausages-burgers-grills/oumph-vegan-spiced-kebab/1000139836409
with (yet more) salad from the garden
some Crucials garlic mayo 3.2g of carbs per 100g
https://groceries.asda.com/product/mayonnaise/crucials-garlic-flavoured-mayo-dip/1000074099854

I've had my two ginormous mugs of black decaff coffee already so just lots of water for the rest of the day

Oh Chook - That must be disappointing about your appointment.

If you have access to your medical records, there may be more context on there. I can see emails and letters between the hospital and surgery/referring GP, as well as my own letters I receive directly.

I wonder if there's anything on there.

I'm waiting for a post-clinic letter from an appointment a couple of weeks ago. I should receive my own directly, but can't resist a peep on my record to see if anything has appeared there.

I'm not very good at waiting. :(
