I can't quite fit on the ledge but I have a chair next to it and I sometimes sit there with my feet up on the box that is her "mounting block" up to the ledge. That is also her grooming station so she gets good brushing and massaging there.

I mailed in the application for an apartment in the little town. They have about a 1-year waiting list, so I am saving up not only for a move but also for a day trip there to see the apartment building and the town. It's been years since I visited it. I've also been spring-cleaning, getting rid of stuff. I wish I could get down to three boxes, two for me and one for the KittenCat. Then we could move in an Uber car.
 

Hugs to you and your mum,@dogslife, with hopes that she is out of pain and that they will soon be able to do something about her hip. I'm sorry your break was interrupted. I hope you can get some rest and peace today.
 
So many posts to catch up on. 5.5 for me this morning. We are trying to get over some terrible news yesterday. My daughter and her family ( husband, 2 daughters of 8 and 6 plus 2 Great Danes) have been away camping for the weekend. Their youngest dog a rescue pup called Huxley got spooked by something in the night and ended up biting the 6yo face. She is fine - was sent home from hospital with antibiotics and calpol and they dont think there’ll be much scarring. I am shaking just thinking about what might have been.
The rescue home Huxley came from said they couldn’t take him back as he could never be rehomed now so after much discussion with them and the vet and the family they had to take the decision to say goodbye to him and let the vet put him to sleep.
She had already made an appointment with a dog whisperer to visit on Wed to help with his boisterousness. We were all of the opinion that he’d been taken fromhis mother too early by some of his problems, hard to say with rescue dogs, but he’d never shown signs of aggression. Even that night, it wasn’t a vicious frenzied attack, it was a scared reaction but sadly not something that anyone could afford a repetition of.
It feels like a day of mourning. My granddaughter is quite perky, her older sister seemed more upset but they had a lot of cuddles and a good talk about love and loss and I’m sure they’ll be fine.

My mum had multiple falls, shoulder (twice ) then hip.

repair i'm sorry to say took ages, and she was never right after, zimmer from then on.
( unless she forgot, and wanted out of the home, then she'd give Usain Bolt a fair race for his money.
sneaky AND fast..a winning combination, especially when others have written you off, as slow and weak )

mobility and movement after seem the key, but we couldn't really explain sufficiently enough of get through to mum,
so took the course that stressed her (and us) out the least

She did live on to a ripe old age after, if away with the fairies, for a lot of it, sadly.

Not sure if your mum, was just unsteady or not,
but the balance thing, was explained to us as a part of the alzheimer's/dementia,
it leads to imbalance, lack of focus/attention to footing, hence the falls
(all explained afterwards to be fair, long after the bones had repaired)
so one to keep an eye on, perhaps.

Wishing her a pain free few days
and you a peaceful nights sleep as soon as possible.

poor little girl.
and sad for the dog too.
our steph got bit by a family dog on the cheek, just below her eye, at her aunts house.
unintentional, but left a scar..so missus went to chinese herbalists for some cream
( scarring much less then doctors expected..barely noticeable now)
i'll ask her later what we got..might be good to know.
 
@dogslife I’m so sorry to read about your poor mum. What a shock, I hope she is comfortable now.
@gennepher I hope the extra kip and tea have worked their magic and you feel perkier now.

@Krystyna23040 I love rhododendrons at this time of year, I hope you got there in good time. We went to the Lost Gardens of Helligan this morning, wasn’t too bad when we got there but by the time we left even the overflow carpark was full.
 

Oh yes please. The docs think there shouldn’t be too much scarring but it’d be good to have a back up. Thank you.
 
@DJC3 just come in and checking posts with a cup of tea. What an awful episode for you all, sad on every level. I am glad the damage wasnt worse but I am sure your daughter and husband will remember it long after the children get over it. As we were saying the other day rescue animals can be unpredictible and often their issues are caused by owner mismanagement. I hope your grandaughters feel better and you are all a close family which is such a blessing. Sending hugs to you all.

Interesting that you saw a connection between my lovely relaxing day and lower fbs this morning. I haven't thought of this before but does make perfect sense because cortisol does encourage the liver to release glucose and also makes us more insulin resistant.

Today was another lovely day and a real tonic for the soul. I do so love walking in beautiful countryside.
 

Thanks PM, yes I was also thinking about our conversation about rescue dogs. I think you’re right in that the adults will probably remember it long after its faded from the little one’s minds ( at least I hope it fades).
 
So sorry to hear of your terrible news - but they absolutely did the right thing.

We had something similar many years ago. An uncle of my husband gave us a collie puppy. We bought her back from Ireland on the ferry. She was a lovely dog but when our first daughter was born she had a sort of a breakdown and bit a neighbour and then a neighbours little girl. she also growled at me everytime my baby daughter cried. It was completely out of character as she was such a gentle dog.

We wanted to rehome Lassie with a family without children but the vet said that it was now highly likely that she would seriously hurt a child so the only option was to put her to sleep. We sadly agreed as it was the right thing to do. We didn't have another dog until the children were in their teens.they

We got there at 9.30am - the rhodedendroms were stunning and we walked around until almost lunchtime when we stopped for a coffee. The National Trust cafe only serves UHT cream with its coffee which is not that nice. While queuing to pay I noticed they did clotted cream and scones. So I bought clotted cream and it was lovely in the coffee. I honestly don't know why I hadn't thought of doing this before.

We also found that it was so busy by the time we left and the overflow car park was full.

Oh that is sad, you are right though - there is no alternative in these sort of circumstances. I can understand your reluctance to get another dog until your children were bigger though.
Your morning sounds lovely - great idea with the clotted cream, did it go all oily in the coffee though?
Hope tomorrow’s fbg is as good as today’s after another ‘good for the soul’ day.
