What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

What a beautiful afternoon.
As we came over the top of a hill coming from Wigton towards Kirkbride, the whole of the Border County was laid out in front of us, as well as seeing way out into Dumfries and Galloway to the West.
At Anthorn on the Wampool, where there were two rare waders from the States, all of the Northern Lake mountains were visible in relief although there was more broken cloud than over the sea.
I don't think any place in England has such an amazing clarity on a good day.

It was also good to get some association, that I have missed of late. I met a keen birder who is a very friendly young guy (young to me anyway) with a ready smile, yet he is in constant pain with multiple joint and stomach issues. One cannot help admire fortitude in the face of pain, I think birding keeps him going. We had a good chat.

Its the weekend and there was a lot of people in cars cutting corners and not knowing the width of their cars on narrow roads...its par for the course I think.

A winner for Mr K's perceptiveness.

A good man for seeing the danger AND taking precautionary measures.

saved the day for many and let me laddo in pick up walk away with a little "phew THAT was close"

rather then the awful realisations he'd damaged or most likely been the cause of ending someone's life.

and a huge HUG for the trauma of your sisters accident.

THAT never goes away as you well know

it just ( i hope ) gets slightly more bearable as the years pass,

Welcome to Monday. A day of tiers, tears and quiet disobedience one imagines. These pre 4.00 am starts are testing my humour considering I dislike autumn and winter. The data shows my body is finding this wholly sub-optimal but I guess it must be good for the soul. I obviously have an fbg , doubtless also sub-optimal. To the extent that it is influenced by diet, it is unlikely to change any time soon so why test?. It is quite liberating to have a meal and know how I felt about it instantly rather than later when the results are in. I had almost forgotten food was about sight, smell, taste and pleasure. I wish no one harm but one or two should perhaps retire from public life tout de suite. As the phrase goes, won't somebody please think of the children? @lindisfel yesterday afternoon sounds delightful - I'm inclined to believe 'twas no accident but beliefs rightly vary over that. As always, I hope you all fall into no sin neither run into any kind of danger.

Rannoch Moore sketch - great study and I like the little Plein Air - with the light and dark made by sun and cloud and how it teases the side of the building

Many Happy Returns and the bonus of two days, at least, of celebrations.

Hope you all have an enjoyable and productive week.
It's started with a very wet grass day, with the promise of a day of rain.
Which as the Cumbrians say, "It'll settle the dust!"
I don't think we will run into problems pouring water down the mouth of the ever open door of the large water pipe going to Manchester.

Good morning everyone on this day of anticipation, in the north at least.

The wonder wheel of one pot lemon chicken came in on an umami of 4.9 this am

Pronouncements during todays Two Minute Hate on the fate of the faithless as the cash for covid gang make up even more bewildering rules from The George Orwell Compendium in the style of Loki or perhaps Reynard the Fox.

My mother called last night at 9pm - 10pm where she is - video call - I rushed to answer -
“Oh hello, I didn’t mean to do that. I was just finishing off and my finger pressed the wrong thing and called you. Going to bed now, goodnight.”

Watched some David Hockney outtakes on YouTube after seeing “What colour is the road” here: https://www.theartnewspaper.com/amp/video/the-colour-of-the-road-hockney. I don’t know if there can be subtitles @gennepher ?

Old Man of Storr yesterday - koffy now - have the best day that you can have.

The Bearded Vulture went south yesterday. It was seen going over Sandy and was mobbed by two very brave Red Kites. Then almost at dusk it was going over London.
I doubt Boris was in the garden doing some late sunbathing or it may have swooped down for a possible late meal!

Yes Mr K is a very safe driver. You are right about the trauma never goes away, but it does get more bearable.

That is just awful.
An aunt of mine was hit head on by a speeding driver who list control on a bend and suffered for the rest of her life as a result. We did hear on the grapevine, via friend of friend of friend, Chinese whispers? That the other driver was more seriously injured and permanently disabled as a result of his actions. No idea if this is actually true, but karma or consequences does spring to mind.

Sandy Beds. Best avoided. (RSPB HQ I believe)

Yes Karma does spring to mind. My mother confessed sometime later that she bought a little doll and stuck pins in it. I think she was trying to influence karma or maybe trying to practice voodoo. Not sure though if it actually did make her feel better about. Much better if karma happens on its own.

Happy birthday @Muddy Cyclist - not sure how I missed that earlier. Enjoy the family celebrations.
Thank you both and quite right two celebrations. Mrs MC was wondering if thecake she is baking for tonight can also make a second appearance tomorrow with pieces missing, I was more concerned if there would still be room for the 71 candles.

@Muddy Cyclist happy birthday. Hope you have a lovely day.

5.2 this morning. Off to work shortly. Feel so much better after a lovely day off.

One more coffee and I must get ready for work. Have scheduled in some breaks so will be able to go across the road and have some coffees at the lovely pub/restaurant.

Doubt it, that's a bone eating bird and Boris does have a long way to go before he looks like a skeleton.
