What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Thank you. I look forward to seeing the results of add detail later technique. My base painting is mainly wet on very wet with some control with large brushes and a water spray. I also spray dried paint to merge colours when I start adding detail.

Your two watercolours today are again superb, whisky, edit, really! Whispy clouds and choppy waves turned out well. As always the iceing on the cake for me is the distant hills, how do you get so much light and depth into them, brilliant.

Melody does lovely work

Especially as she only picked up the camera about 3 months ago.

Grandson is enjoying his 3rd year at Uni for the 2nd year he was totally focused on his studies and body building but now has branched out a bit and has taken up some other activities he has been playing tennis and found to his surprise that he really likes it he has also given in to the constant nagging of the rowing team and joined they had been trying to get him to join since his first year (big lad lots of muscle upper body and legs) and he has had a try out with the boxing team and he is finding other sports than bodybuilding to be enjoyable. About time too I say maybe now he will stop pinching my ketone test strips.

Thank you @geefull

Two brilliant watercolours.
Love the waves in the first one, and the still water in the second one.
And the wonderful detail you get in those hills with your different greens.

a late on parade 6.6.

an interesting day.

London here..

we were in the eye of the storm early on, but we rode it out.
the uptick is more northern as you all know, but we are tier 2 so it's on the rise here too

For all our confidence and preparedness
Today we moved one step closer to the sharper end of things.

Lauren, as i said earlier, boss not been feeling so good, went for test.
came back positive today.
he messaged all staff.

Lauren been feeling off last few day,
intense headaches and a 'heated' spot middle of back, otherwise, ok.
she also had the pink eye over the weekend

so we begin the hunt for a test.

(A little of our saga, in the hope it informs or helps others.)

UK Govt site only list 3 symptoms for a test.
continual cough, loss of taste or smell
high temperature..( we tested and she's below 37)
https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

yet this says the temperature rise she gets in one location IS a concern AND a known symptom
https://gov.wales/check-your-symptoms-see-if-you-need-coronavirus-medical-help

so worth noting it MAY be indicative.

as for the test.

the request site was rather involved, sure many might have given up.
as her boss WAS positive, she wanted to check and get tested.
as i said the symptoms do NOT include the welsh guidance, or so we thought.

but once read, we went back.
the truth is to me.. it seems very difficult to get a test if
A your completely honest
B not too tech savvy
C not part of a test programme

the girls at work are all concerned, so have done similar and persevered with request until approved..

I know we have drive in test sites in Hyde park, Battersea, Hounslow and Twickenham, all in range,
we did get a slot today at twickers..not the closest, maybe all the others only work certain days ?
( so happy it was still in London, to be honest )

test was efficient enough.
*drive in windows up.
*instructions to advance and accept kit.
*number to call from car,
* caller outlines process
* move on to next stop to do test.
* throat, nose, swab in pot, put in zip lock bag
* zip lock bag into bio bag..(do NOT seal)
* next stop, bag checked all complete, scanned
* bag dropped in bin
* drive out.

all in 20 minutes

one curious thing, her boss was told NOT to isolate until confirmed positive.
the girls all worried he was fibbing.
Lauren also told NOT to isolate until results given ?

she not going to work now until results,
but that did seem odd.

he had the classic symptoms, she had the welsh version
so i'd of thought isolate for definite
it's what we do from abroad, right, even without symptoms to err on the safe side.

anyway for now she's still off colour slightly, but otherwise feeling well.
i'm good, and playing Nurse Ratched.

we have kept up to date with VIT C, D & Zinc

we sit in hope it isn't, and if it is it's mild and passes from her quickly...
all we can do now is be patient.

take care all.

Thanks @alf_Josiah @Muddy Cyclist

we sat and had a few drinks earlier.
to steady the nerves, more then anything.
she's more concerned if she has it, she can't look after her dad.
so we sorted that, asap, to her satisfaction

Gallows humour surfaced, so we laughed a good bit as well.
she has a wicked sense of humour which i get
so strangely quite a nice moment, given the day.

she's sleeping now, so i'm just finishing off one more drink before calling it a day.

appreciate the support
means a lot.

Hope the test comes back negative.
Hugs for Lauren.
Take care.
Humongous hugs for both of you for all of this xxx

Fbg 6.4

Done my digital painting for today.
I will try and tidy my art table (it has been used as a dumping ground) @dunelm and start the rice paper and ink paintings tomorrow...
Anyway this is in iPastel then Procreate

I do need a new direction in painting...

Good Morning and a 6 for me today.

A day of mystery and surprise. In other words I don't have a clue what I'm doing with it. Maybe a MuddyCycle ride once it gets light but then what?

I hope time is kind to you all today. Keep safe

Love the photo. I also like the way the sunlight lit up the bark against a dark sky.

I was going to comment on the cycling tights but decided that the less said the better.

I have just done some postcards for my postcrossing.
I got given 3 addresses abroad to send a postcard to.
One guy asked for Tom of Finland cards.
Don't know what they are, but I can hazard a guess.
Googled...oh boy, those are not King Edwards in there...more like bottles of vodka...
He is getting a Welsh landscape postcard from me...of Aber Falls.

It is going to take awhile to get those bottles of vodka out of my mind...

Good morning everyone from a red and yellow streaked morning in the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of left over chicken with chorizo and peppers came in at a spiced up 5.1 this am

Babysitting duties yesterday - feeding the ducks, down the blustery promenade, playing with toys, singing nursery rhymes. One of my sister in law’s who works in a GP surgery tested positive for Covid-19 so is now in splendid isolation - everyone else trying to figure out the last time that they had contact with her.

@jjraak - not good and you really do need to persevere - big hugs to you both and hope it goes well. I use the Covid-19 symptoms study app and can legitimately get tested whenever I like. https://covid.joinzoe.com/ Here is some of the blurb for participants who go online to book a test:
You will be asked to confirm you are an essential worker as part of the booking process. We have agreed with DHSC that you can access testing for the purposes of this research, so please select ‘I have coronavirus symptoms (I'm an essential worker)’ when you reach the relevant screen. Please, indicate in the next screen whether or not you have one of the coronavirus symptoms listed in there. Please note: this permission only applies to you as the study participant and to any other app users who live in the same household with you. You must not encourage other members of your family or friends, except those in your household, to access a test unless they have also been invited as a study participant or a symptomatic essential worker, and therefore already qualify.

@Muddy Cyclist - strong autumnal woodland scent - that water is great. MOT pass - result.
@geefull - thank you for your words. Wonderful wispy clouds and super choppy water - hills as always - greats scenes - it will be interesting to see if your dry first, details later works for you. You could always put the oven on low - we have a plate warming drawer - I ought to use that if we are off out.
@gennepher - another spooky looking sky up through the trees - love the Jenny Joseph colour scheme.

Went a bit nuts with colour yesterday - several hairdryer moments - oh well. Really do need my morning koffy. Hope everyone has a good day.

6.1 this morning and a bit of the sniffles but it looks like a nice day.

Googled...oh boy, those are not King Edwards in there...more like bottles of vodka..

I had no idea what you were on about so I followed your rabbit hole and...
Remind me not to do that again

@jjraak I hope Lauren is ok and happy to hear she is staying away from there for a bit. Just remember that the test is exactly like an MOT, only valid at the time it is taken. Stay safe

Good morning all. No,no,no, yes I have no fbg, grandchildren workmen or dogs today at least until dogs have recovered from being Eunuched. I plan to reinsert a wonderwheel of misinformation next week and test some updated versions of LC autumn/winter food - not hopeful of taste and spike both landing where I want but I'm buying a red hat with make meals great again and getting Dido on the case. - hiss easy win @jjraak hug for Lauren and hopefully either negative result or everyone weathers it as well as @PenguinMum has. @dunelm hug for SIL and family. @geefull I am beginning to realise I like landscape watercolour bestist because of the your work so thanks so much. @Krystyna23040 double hug needed. One for fbg and one for eating almond butter in the first place - how do you do that, it is like self harm for the palate?@Muddy Cyclist the Staffs MMIL rides again,eh? Pip,Pip old toots.

I put a like - but I do like the comedy. Red hat - such a good idea. Almond butter - I have tried that. Like an over spiced kimchi, it came out of my mouth faster than I was putting it in.
