What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

16 days after leg break.
Recovery going well.
Much more mobile, sleeping well now.
Sprained foot taking weight, with just the odd twinge to be careful of.

Other leg in walking boot, using that a lot more, and gaining confidence daily.

So some things are looking up.:D

( I ain't dead until they put the lid on the box
And even then, they better be listening for
knocking..;) )

Watched more TV the last week or so then I've seen in the last year.
And now remember why :banghead:

Was however Eagerly awaiting VIKINGS last of the series.
Rather disappointed, in a GoT type way.

Ending seemed rushed, just to tie up ends...:sorry:

& Yet More schools chaos looming from the master of disaster.

So let me end this on A good Samaritan story

Stay safe all.:)

Good to know you are slowly mending and good link.

A day of walks and music. Late afternoon walk as darkness dropped on Etchinghill Heath reminded me of a Eustacia Vye moment as Mrs MC seemed to be swallowed by the Heath and failing light. As usual I had my paint box and so did a quick A4 Plein Air sketch and wash of the hill and failing light and some patches of snow on lower paths, 10 minutes as light and temperature were dropping fast and Kath wanted to get home and so did our Labrador.

good evening all :)

4.8 today

Sunday dinner worked fine and the cheesecake was good ;)

We had a chilly day here but the sea kept the frost away, not so at mum's, her path was like a sheet of black ice :sorry: I expect a cold night because there is no cloud so I may break out the hot water bottle :D

Cauli rice, now there is a thing ;) I used to buy the ready made from Asda or Tesco sometimes, the only way I found it really useable was to zap it in the microwave according to the cooking instructions then leave it to cool in the open pot so a fair amount of water would evaporate. Brown some diced veggies in butter and then chuck the cauli rice in with them for just long enough to heat through properly, season well with whatever you like and serve. Used to be quite nice as a side with some good sausages :) not bad with a curry either.

hope your day is treating you kindly :)

@dunelm - I like your island, especially the minimalist treatment you've given the water and the boats add a great sense of scale :)

@gennepher - hello and Happy New Year :) thank you for your lovely angel, it's peaceful and beautiful :joyful: Keep safe.

@jjraak - glad things are progressing :) I agree with you about watching TV, not often I do that ;)

@Muddy Cyclist - you've made good of the day by the sound of it. Nice sketch, you always manage to create such a lot with limited time. I like the glow of colour through the centre of the landscape and the colour play with the blue in the foreground :joyful:

art bit -

I think I mentioned this a little while ago, my fiddling about 'gene' was involved :hilarious:

Went looking for engine oil in my outside store this afternoon. Found a case of "1664" lager staring back at me! Hid it on top of an angle-grinder, behind the belt sander \(as one does). Away with you, Satan!

1664, really? I wonder how it survived the Great plague and Great fire?

While taking off the adhesive from Swipey for a swaperoo... darn thing came off in my hands. Had to google the position of the sensor in the Dexcom and Libre rash group, forgot to skin-tac underneath so will now rely on the body tape replacement...

I am gonna be one lucky Rozzington Bear if this works when it initialises.

To my absolute amazement ... IT LIVES!!!!!

Will it still be drinkable being that age?:)

Thank you, certainly a chilly sketch and failing light made colour choice a bit hit and miss, good job I don't move my pans of paint about in the box.

That's a very good flower still life, I do enjoy seeing your nature paintings and drawings.

Morning all.
Bizarre news story from Washington Post. POTUS caught on the phone trying to change the certified Georgia State election result. This will not end well.
FBG 8.5 mmo/lt at 0615. Forgot half my meds yesterday. Que cera cera.
Strange new temporary structures at large car park one mile distant. Me-thinks a vaccination centre beckons. But will there be any staff? Come on Boris, this was predictable 3 months' ago. No staff either for the Nightingales. Poor government.
Still let's be positive. Each day is one day nearer to some semblance of normality.
Happy Mondays all round.

Stunning piece of artwork @gennepher - hope it keeps you safe.

More fantastic Chinese paintings. They are inspiring. I have been searching out rice papers and whatever else I have in delicate type papers. Still looking in my Tardis.

Brilliant artwork. I have so missed your daily paintings. So pleased that you have posted this.

That is stunning x

Good to hear from you and be able to share your wonderful art @gennepher

Your guardian I hope. Good to see you, look after yourself.

As you know, I love your quick plain air sketches (probably more than your finished work !) This painting sketch has a vibrancy and energy and an abstract like quality I like. You were probably getting nagged to hurry up! But it made for a great painting.

This is beautifully delicate. Stunning. I love your flower paintings (I love all your paintings).

Good to see you Gennepher.
I hope all will be well for you?
Derek

Thank you all for your lovely compliments everyone. I appreciate them.

I have a wee bit of a battery problem with my car (as I suspect many of you may be experiencing with cars having an enforced rest. My car is only a year old, but because of Covid it has spent much of its first year sitting idly in my driveway. I discovered my battery problem at the shops on Saturday. The car refused to open. So I had to manually unlock it. Black screen of death on the iPad sized display, with just the words it had shut down displays and non essential stuff to conserve battery. Panic set in.

I pressed the button to start. Car started. Phew. But still blacked out displays. So I thought if I drive for a bit then this will recharge battery. By the way all the non-essential shops (apart from charity shops) are all open and trading, so they are not closed as per tier 4 Welsh rules. Also in 3 shops (I went in) not one shop assistant was wearing the requisite face mask. This appears to be some lawless frontier town where the sherif sits in his office all day twiddling his thumbs. Yes the police station is on the same road...

Anyway I drove to the next town where the law abiding citizens all had closed their non essential shops, in fact not one shop was open. So I am now driving on dual carriageways at 60mph, it was below freezing still so I wasn't risking 70 mph. Black screen of death still on displays. Two hours later the screens came back on. So I drove another half hour just to make sure.

Back home I am researching battery chargers. Then I came across a solar powered trickle charger, which you plug in your cigarette lighter, and my car windscreen does face the sun all day. So I went to check the cigarette lighter is on when engine off, but alas no :(

So that idea won't work. I cannot lift a normally heavy battery charger, And neither could I lift a spare battery if I went down that route. Also my car is in my driveway right by the road (and scallies driving around), so I can't leave the bonnet open unattended to recharge the car.

New idea now is drive the car every day this week for an hour. Next week will be 3 times during the week for an hour. Then following week twice a week for an hour, and carry on with that frequency. Weather permitting of course.

First of all I was annoyed this is going to take a huge inroad into my time, and I don't have the spare time with everything else. But then I changed my attitude. Sun rises at 8:26 today. So, I will start to get ready in a minute, and start driving, well not exactly east at this time of year, but more or less South East at this time of year, and see the sun rise. I love watching the sky as the sun rises. Trouble is England is in the way. This stupid border problem and I live on the border, but on the Welsh side. So I need to drive South first for a bit, and then I can drive South East a little. I need the dual carriageways so I can get those revs up to recharge the battery in the shortest time possible.

Maybe this will inspire some sunrise paintings...

@jjraak I am glad you are improving with your broken and sprained limbs. TV probably gets a bit 'aaagh' after an enforced rest, so you will be glad to be walking again ....

Take care all.

This is how extreme right and left wing politics works, their prime motives are self serving.
At least the States should get some more balance with Biden.

An unusual 4.9 this morning. Am not re-testing to see if it is correct. Of course it is correct.

Back to work this morning. First class is 10am. Dog walk and coffee first. Met office says torrential rain. BBC weather says no rain at all. Only one can be right. Hopefully it is BBC weather.

Hi All,
A new week and it still looks cold outside.

Carlisle not many miles away is where the new variant has taken off in the North of England and is spreading out of control.

We are off to Lidl early, hoping there are not many shoppers..Then washing the shopping.

For the rest of the week we will keep our heads down.

Still hope Marjorie will get her vaccination soon and my second one goes ahead on the 13th, but I doubt it.

Have a great day everyone.
Life is a precious gift and the Sun will shine again.
