What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

I will let you know how it goes. Having tried Yorkshire and toad in the hole a few times this is a last chance really. I like Yorkshire cooked under a beef joint so the drippings form a soft area. I can't abide crusty dry Yorkshire - like eating cardboard. Like many things in LCland I find the trade off between taste and bg reflects badly on taste and pleasure - invalidates the wonder of creation. Most of the swaps - cuali rice, courgetti etc utterly fail my taste test. Early on I kidded myself things were ok - won't lie now. I respect and accept all those who enjoy the swaps. If I ever see good results I will obviously totally revise my opinions in a heartbeat.:angelic:
I agree... I am lucky I don’t mind courgette, cabbage and cauliflower but I find caulirice a pain to make so stick to staples like cauliflower cheese or a curry... and as you well know, I have fallen foul of the evangelical LCers for daring to also have to manage with meds and not changing my career to comply.

Now in a post COVID job-lacking world ... who knows... but hey...

We tried making cauli rice only once. Since then we have only bought frozen cauli rice.
We also don't mind courgetti, cauli rice etc. In fact, husband (who isn't doing low carb) thinks that real rice and pasta are now disappointingly bland and tasteless. My daughter and family have also found the same.

I am now double checking all my posts and texts before I post them as my predictive text on my phone and tablet has gone into overdrive.

A friend's dog has gone deaf. My text to her (after predictive text had done its worst) was 'so sorry she is dead now'.

Have a great Sunday everyone.
We are still in bed at 0823....that is truly decadent. :) But its cold outside. :)

Gennepher, if your looking in I was thinking about your art work we all enjoy so much.
Hope you are blessed in this new year.
Derek

I am just only peeking in. That is all...
Thank you for the blessings, they are needed and welcome.
Hope your new year is going well.
Here is my art work today...an angel.

Did any of you understand the link on the home page to a Tweet that scientists have identified depression in the brain? That's all -- just the sentence and a photo. I was expecting an article from a scientific journal or at least a lay synopsis; although I don't know why. Scientists sometimes sound like little kids -- Look, we've identified something the rest of y'all have known about for ages!

Yes, I totally agree with you there. I remember reading research that proved that dog owners were more active. Really - who would have thought that! I never would have guessed.

Have to agree.

Sure you know, but Tesco etc do caulirice, prepackaged ..2 mins microwaved.
Not bad

But another one here who can't see it as an acceptable substitute..aka as good as rice.

But more of a plate/appetite filler.
Acceptable IF covered in curry, and WAY more palatable to this low carber, then the plainly disgusting bare naked type of noodles konjac etc :spitoutdummy::grumpy:

If I am having a 'lower carb' day (so up to 150g evil carbs) then I do a quarter-hed of currey, a couple of small baby potatoes and a couple of eggs for a Cauliflower, Egg and potato curry for a couple of days portions. And I was bought a diddy pressure cooker for Xmas so will try and see if it takes care of brown rice for me

2 for 1 here. Good to hear from you and be able to share your wonderful art @gennepher. Part 2: Anyone else noticed a sharp spike after a shower or is it only me who tests? Any one try an ice bath or shower as cold as possible then measure?
Edit: Rise is probably Libre and hot water according to people eklsewhere - my sensor is always covered with a waterproof covering.

16 days after leg break.
Recovery going well.
Much more mobile, sleeping well now.
Sprained foot taking weight, with just the odd twinge to be careful of.

Other leg in walking boot, using that a lot more, and gaining confidence daily.

So some things are looking up.:D

( I ain't dead until they put the lid on the box
And even then, they better be listening for
knocking..;) )

Watched more TV the last week or so then I've seen in the last year.
And now remember why :banghead:

Was however Eagerly awaiting VIKINGS last of the series.
Rather disappointed, in a GoT type way.

Ending seemed rushed, just to tie up ends...:sorry:

& Yet More schools chaos looming from the master of disaster.

So let me end this on A good Samaritan story

Stay safe all.:)

I think you have to get some water out of cauliflower rice so after blitzing I microwave for 2 minutes then spoon into a jelly bag - once cool, I squeeze the bejezas out of it to remove water. I then behaves as rice and can be used in such things as fritters and other exotic things like croque madame:
Make up some béchamel using low carb flour substitute of choice.
Rub butter into a muffin tin and line with cauliflower rice.
Place some nice ham into the bottom
Crack in a small egg (or a larger egg minus half the white)
Spoon of bechamel
Top with grated comte or cheddar
Shove into oven at 180 for about 12 minutes for a runny egg or a bit longer for firmer
