What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Great fbg. Enjoy Gooderstone - please tell me there will be a sausage roll. Cheques for tiny amounts? Santander keep sending me ones for 4p as after I sold my mother's shares they paid the final dividend of maybe one share. To sell or gift that share is an outrageously complicated and expensive task.

@ianpspurs, sorry you’re on your own with regard to the tree house, but a woodworking friend of mine known as “Dave the Fence” might be interested, he only works afternoons.

@gennepher hopefully attached is the picture of the finally finished refurbished children’s bench seat for Lord Tarquin Farquhar who has agree for me to publish the picture of him collecting the seat while drinking a beer. His children are 3years old and 6 months old. I have known Tarquin since he was 6 years old. Some of the wood came from a Victorian house, some of wood is reclaimed from the original seat and some new from my store. It would have easier to make a totally brand new seat, we live and learn.

Once again you shame me with my ignorance & illuminate for me to difficulties I hadn't even considered .

Scan pack go, all seems visual no matter how annoying the "please place item in packing area"
Is, and they certainly can be infuriating

Thinking back to how many times I have had to stop & look around for staff for some of the simplest things ...
Fullest sympathies, and a deeper appreciation for the daily hassle you take with barely a murmur , that might have me considering many of your scenarios.....but as you point out. Doesn't get you your food/dinner .

Perhaps..IF it is a. Regular local shop, have that moment to just be the centre of attention.
It might be that you become known to shop team, and a more tailored approach advised by management ?

We had a gentleman, powered wheelchair user,, dreadfully contorted body, and some affected speech..(mentally sharp I might add ) who started frequenting where I worked.

I was happy to provide personal help where applicable....but while I shouldn't have been I was moved by just how many colleagues & other customers came to help him as well.even though it was clear his needs were great.

A sight I had seen more then once, but usually reserved for the more elderly or infirm in many places I had worked

The goodness in people is always there, even in those we might least expect it from

Hope some goodness happens to you on your next visit to such stores .
 
I've always preferred people over machines @alf_Josiah so normally queue.

Not my usual area.. krydn
And while mobile enough to shop a little I quickly fatigue & am in some pain.
AND only 2 tills open, with queues of trolleys overloaded with shopping

The wait would have been too long .

Technology when it suits me is fine..& that day suited my needs
The assistance was more harassment, it seemed to me

Not unused to such moments, hence the laughter rather then offence at the unwanted attitude..

been there, done that + got the t-shirt, too many times,
but usually it was a belligerent customer needing calming down.

Not something I could do here,
At best I could but choose to decline his attentions & basically ignore as much as I could.

Anyway shop was shopped..so happy in the end

Sorry to hear you are in same boat.
That hand needed to steady us does make a rucksack a most sensible choice

Was a most surreal encounter, and so unexpected.
May have been different, crutch was out of sight to keep it in reach, and while standing I look fine, as everywhere else staff have been most helpful..rather humbling how nice people can be

As said, we all have bad days.

Just need to know how & if I can scan (?) So I can scan directly into rucksack

The smartscan app means I can use a trolley (no need for walking stick) to scan then load directly into the backpack or bag as I go. Most people do the same so no suspicious eyes. Just use QR code at checkout, swipe card to pay and go. We mostly have our groceries delivered though.

There is one local shop, it is limited in its stock, but only if a certain Polish girl is there. The team changes all the time, as do they in the other local shops here. And again, it is one particular assistant being there. Again she is Polish. One of the Polish girls is very helpful, and for example, looks at the double cream I am buying, and says we have some more in the back with a much longer use by date. Would you like those? Yes 3 please, says me. Off she goes, (there is a queue of 5 behind me). She comes back, rings up my shopping (or is that an old fashioned phrase?), then closes the till down, "You can't possibly carry that back to the car,' and shouts for another till assistant (there are now 10 people in the queue behind me, and I dare not look at their faces). And we have a lovely conversation as she carries my stuff back to the car. Over the past few years, I have learnt she left the shop for maternity leave to have her baby girl in Poland, but returned just before lockdowns in 2020. Her baby is being brought up in Poland, and she works here. She updates me. We have a conversation for a moment or two after she has put my stuff away in my car. But her shift changes, and I am disappointed when she is not there.

It makes a heck of a difference when there is help of a genuine nature.

Well that certainly another option I hadn't considered that would solve the current packing problem .mmmhh

And delivery isn't what I really need .great though it is for others .

It was more an excuse for an outing.
Four walls is four walls..no matter how pleasant

And there's a reason animals pace their cages in zoos..
.,and I can't even pace

Cats needed some go-cat, so a mooch around had me remembering I needed other bits.

Must try finding out more about that scan & go.

Yes, there was a Sausage roll for Mr K. As we pass the cafe on our way in they call out to say that they will save a sausage roll for him. They call him the Sausage Roll Man.
 
It is ridiculous to send a cheque for such a small amount. Faster Payments would be so much more sensible.

I guess I should use the DRIP scheme but I doubt I will live the 2 millennia it would require for one share. Love the idea of The Sausage Roll Man.
