What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Brilliant, as usual gennepher. I know it has the wrong number of segments, but the second one is very much like a snowflake. The first one like the impact of a snowball.

It hasn't snowed here today but it is very dark - lights on at 1 pm and heavy, dark clouds in the sky. Cold too - not so much in the house - I've had the heating on for Em to feel reasonably comfortable when she came out of the shower. No idea why she decided to have a shower once she got here, except I did ask if she had washed her hair this morning, so maybe she came out without a shower at all and then thought better of it.
Thank you @Annb with the kaleidoscope compliments.

Snowed here all day, but melted!

This is Stanley, Co Durham in February 1963 - proper snow.

That really is proper snow.
It was much the same in the south in 1962/3. We went on a trip to London from Canterbury (saw Black and White Minstrels) and the snow was piled up about 10 feet on either side of the road. Scary on the roads but they used to clear them pretty well back then. Doesn't happen now.

Shopping again this am.
Posted cards in Wigton and paid credit card bill, then off to the garage to get some petrol in Fabia.
I see diesel is down a bit, now in mid 160s a litre and petrol in 150s. The garage has a nice little mini market must be a little goldmine. It was time to replenish our eggs to carry us over to early next week.
A little misty for Cumbria today and light snow falling on way home.
Nothing like the winter fogs in Lincolnshire in the 50s when bus conductors had to go in front of buses as an extra pair of eyes to keep the bus on route.
D.
I remember those winter fogs in the 1950's in the Medway Towns. I was the one walking in front of the taxi in thick fog, which collected a big group of us from Junior school, the other kids were from the army camp at the bottom of our road. I was the oldest. I think I had to bang the bonnet for him to stop. Never told my mum because I realised it was dangerous especially for a deaf child, taxi driver would have got sacked, and I was proud to have that responsible job...

A pal of mine in Finland said they had about a 3ft of snow last night, temp this morning was -14degC - looked quite sunny mind.

Good morning everyone and welcome to another episode of ‘Hot water bottle vs microwave wheat bag’ - as seen on TV up here in the dark and dangerous north. I used to have a circular hot water bottle as a child - blue with the Hickory Dickory Dock nursery rhyme on in the form of a clock face. Nowadays you are supposed to sit in a sleeping bag with your chosen heat source as your house turns into a scene from the film Dr Zhivago. By the way, don’t mention spherical lumps of leather in hot countries, loads of so called ‘experts’ will be on the box round the autopsy table for hours on end waffling endlessly about not a lot. Art bit, not much colour added really - bit of B&W shading and a touch of blue to match those lights in the hallway. Have the most glorious day that you can have, we have the girl in the bubble with us so the fun begins when she wakes! But first, some koffy.

That's a good eye for detail in the artwork, @dunelm

Impressive.

I approve of the '"Get the blasted things done" basis.'
Get it over and finished today @SlimLizzy
Warmer bedroom sounds brilliant idea.
No gardening today....curtains!
Worked on the curtains until 4.30pm then had an hour out in the frosty garden. Finished the second curtain in the evening, both are hung. Now need just a few hand stitches to finish and for MrSlim to sort out the cords so that they pull all the way together.
So glad you were saved from a fall on the icy pavements.

To me this looks like a tree. One of the hollows that sometimes form where a branch has been removed. Very popular with nesting birds.

Moving day. The unheated blue bed
room is the warmest room in the house. This is including the two shower rooms that have heated towel rails.
One disadvantage is the sloping floor. It's unsettling, walking feels a little like being drunk, but we will no doubt get used to it.

Greetings everyone on another day which may look wonderful in a photo or on a Christmas card but is a totally different reality for many. The question is cui bono? The splendid hamper and very tasteful calendar with photos of local churches JKP won in the school raffle can’t be the only answer. What is “the end game” of the current hardship and culture war in the UK? Ultimately climb downs will ensue and be - wrongly - spun as victory. Advent poem for today https://malcolmguite.wordpress.com/2021/12/11/despised-and-rejected-christina-rosetti-7/. Enjoy your day. Mine includes a Sunday lunch (spatchcock chicken) with JKP and MIL. That won’t defeat the forces of darkness and evil but that isn’t my or its job. It will bring joy and comfort to three people which is the only end game for now. I hope you each find your own way to bring some Advent hope, love and energy to others (including the non human elements of God's creation) and yourselves because you can’t pour from an empty cup - even in Norfolk or Wales.

Another very cold night with stars and moonlight when I got up to loo.
It is forecast the temperature will not go above freezing until next Wednesday when it will reach +2 in day.
So heating on permanently between 0600 and 2230. Not lit wood burner this back end of year because I need to improve my fitness first. Going up the hill to get food and feed birds is enough for now. We have just a slight covering of snow and the garden is a slippery slope.
We have a good drying clothes area in the boiler room at the end of house but that means going up and down outside steps.
D.

You have a good day, and a safe day @Krystyna23040
Take some breaks/rest during the day.
Take it easy as you are able x
I was amazed l got through the day @gennepher as there was not even a 10 minute break from the moment I got in the car at 9am to when I finished classes at 6pm. Actually the day went by very fast.

That last class of the day is a Zoom class. I have only just found that there is an option to 'improve your appearance ' which definitely makes me look less tired. I have to use it as my new webcam is very unforgiving.

Thank you for sharing your gift. *Little things mean a lot both in the act of sharing and how those finishing touches elevated the piece to a whole new level. As for the football, trivial as the result is in the Grand Scheme of Things, one senses how much that will worsen the animal spirits of so many. Given the last census details on faith it is very hard to see whence they will be restored. Also likely to dampen sales in supermarkets, pubs and clubs. Outside bet on increased anti-semitism - he ain't Jewish but this is England 2022. * Best version IMHO
