What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Just a quick update as, I'm struggling with a migraine.
No FBG.
It was supposed to be vampire day with the phlebotimist, for the dsn appointment in a couple of weeks.
Mrs L has a dreadful night, which means I had a bad night.
Along with the torrential rain, I couldn't risk going out even using Mrs L 's walker.
So I phoned up to cancel.
The receptionist was very good, and told me not to worry about it.
Another appointment was going to be sorted.
I asked the receptionist, if it was possible to get a home visit?
Oh yeah, of course she said, with Mrs L on the 'at risk' list, the bloods can be done at home.
Wow!
And the dsn appointment can be done at home as well.
Wow again!
Who would have thought?
I'm not averse to going the surgery, but spending cash on a taxi and the fussing and farting
about to get there with Mrs L, is something you could do without.
Gonna have a nap, Mrs L is snoring.
It's has been fun.

Best wishes to those with appointments and those doing other things, may You lot have a better day than I have had. Have a warm evening, stay warm as frost is predicted.

Just heard, #3 (our youngest) son, has come up to ours to tell us his MiL, has been taken to hospital, and needs urgent care. It never stops.
Nor does the ratbag, he has arrived to cause uproar along with the baby shark song.
There goes my nap.
Such good news about the home appointments @Lamont D . Hope you got a better nights sleep last night.

4.5 at 04.50 today but, as often happens, it soon rose to 7.5 and then 8.2. Now my Libre is sulking because it sounded the alarm about half an hour ago and I just turned it off without checking and now it won't give me a reading. It is beginning to behave very strangely these days and I wonder if it is on the point of breakdown. When I check readings with the Aviva Accuchek, it is pretty much the same, so it is still reading correctly.

Just taking a break from clearing up the kitchen - I've been baking and, as usual, there was a pile of equipment in the sink and around the worktops. As many as possible now in the dishwasher but still some left in the sink which I will hand-wash, but first I need a break to ease the poor old back and legs.

Morning all from a chilly L.A. Fbg of 5.1, after some very weird readings yesterday which may have been due to the new sensor settling as by bedtime bg was comfortably back in the 4s as it is now. The other explanation is the steroid effect as I've read that they raise bg after something like 4 hrs and with IF I often don't eat and take meds until 11.am. I may play around with that timing and see what happens to the readings. Just now, 8.46, bg is 4.4 which is normal for me. The heating just kicked in as Hive is set at 18ºC from 8 am for MIL - not October yet, meh. @gennepher hug for the pain. Y'all's have your own best version of Super Salmon Salad day (with Zoe 30+ sprinkles obs).
Thank you @ianpspurs

I had a phone call last night which goes through an app which transcribes the voicemail into written and English

It appeared weird to me
And, I nearly reported it as Spam.

This person said they had sent me a letter giving details of my RSV vaccination on (what the heck is an RSV vaccination?) end of next week, but apparently they gave me the wrong time to attend. And they have now given me the correct details when to attend in this voicemail. But attend where?

No letter this morning either.

I went on to Gov.UK.
And this is offered f you are a baby, and I think it said if you are between 75 and 79.

I cannot find anything much about it online as to whether be a good idea for me to take, or do I have some contraindications with the stuff I have that make it not a good idea for me to have.

I have no idea.

Thank you very much @Lamont D
Thank you for your hopes for me.
The weather has deteriorated horribly....
It is suddenly winter blanket time and electric blanket time...
I will try not to freeze over night.
The tension of my head migraine has now moved/gone into my hands. They are very stiff and tensed up, and are both like claws...using the hand massager on one hand to try and get back to sleep. Holding a cuppa tea (from my flask) in the other hand, and dictating on here with my voice....
If I drown in my bungalow, then the rest of the UK will be swimming past my bedroom door trying to get entry somewhere...
Have you finished your Noah's Ark yet?
I just need to put a few more finishing touches to the potting shed to make sure it floats....
a bit drier this morning but cold, bright crisp sunlight has now clouded over, still cool tho.
still waiting for the lumber, plenty of species of creepy crawlies to take with us in the Ark.
so many birds on the footie pitches.
I think it's dreadful, your surgery. It's worse than in some banana republics.

7.2 not happy.
Real!y good sleep and only one visit.

After two hours of chores, a text from surgery, advising me to make a phlebotomist appointment.
Dena vu?A
so I phoned.
Is it me?
I asked the nice young lady for an appointment, and adding that I was on the phone yesterday to make a home visit appointment for Mrs L.
Are you sure it's not me? I'm beginning to be paranoid.

So obviously I asked if my appointment could be done the same time as Mrs L?
Of course, the nice lady said.
So, be done at home, the same time, as Mrs L?
No, Mrs L can be brought in, with you.
Wouldn't it be easier for both of us to be done together at home?
I pointed it out doing both together would save time etc. For everyone.
The nice lady, now being totally confused. Took time out to relax.

For the next five minutes, the questions and options were asked and eventually sorted. But Mrs L 's appointment was moved to three days later, so we can get done together at home. It was very much a futile exercise as I mentioned very early on in the phone call, that back in the appointment in June, that I didn't need more blood tests this time. But in my record, it did.
Anywho, that sorted, and booked, I asked the next obvious question.
Another logical question.

Can we have the assessment appointment together at home please?
No!
Dena vu two!
Here we go again, please, no more?

I replied that the nice lady on the phone yesterday, told me that she would arrange the home visit for Mrs L and would speak to me as well, about not only Mrs L, but myself as well.
It would save time etc. Again.

I will have to speak to my medical director. The really nice lady said.

Anything else, I can help you with Mr L?
No! And thanks very much for your understanding and patience.

My paranoia kicking in now.
I don't believe or be very surprised if the second appointment is arranged any time before the dsn appointment.
Baby steps.

Mrs L has had a nice sleep whilst helping me have a good rest.
I have been in the garden, tidying up the foliage, from the high winds we had, and I'm quite pleased for now.
Half a wheelie bin of leaves. Ggrrrr!
The sun is trying but too much cloud.

Kitchen duties and big shop imminent.

My best wishes to you lot as always.

Supposed to be warming up?
Ha, my paranoia is laughing!

Good afternoon everyone. Quick dip in. Back to France on Monday and will stay until after the cremation. All in all a relief rather than anything sad. Art bit, a line of trees. Hope your day is a good one.
So sorry to hear this.
My sincere condolences to yourself and your kin.
Have a pleasant trip.

Cool but nice enough here...

I think just about anywhere would be better than my surgery @Lamont D

Great art bit, some trees leading somewhere @dunelm
Hugs. Hope the trip over is easy and effortless...

Yes @JohnEGreen, cataract removal transforms your life.

In 2014, I had bilateral posterior subcapsular cataracts surgically removed at Moorfields Eye Hospital; from the dominant eye first and the remaining eye 3 months later.

In adults, cataract surgery is usually performed under a local anaesthetic, because surgeons prefer their patients to be wide awake. The cloudy natural lens is removed and replaced by an artificial lens. It takes no more than 15 minutes and is painless.

Thursday's FBG 4.7 mmol/L on waking at 6.00 am.
I did have cataracts in both eyes the cataract in my right eye was removed and a lens implanted last year, but I was told that the NHS would not fund the surgery on the left eye.

I have since been told by the optician who did the last diabetic eye screening this had to be done by a split lamp test because of the cataract and as the cataract interferes with the diabetic eye scan then is falls under a special criteria and so the NHS will fund it though the referral has to be done via a normal eye test.

I have had so much going on I just have not been able to book an appointment at the opticians.

Fbg this morning was 6.6 bit high but not too bad.

I managed another outing down to the park yesterday enjoyed it for the most part but noticed that the duck population on the lake seemed rather depleted according to one of the rangers who was down there monitoring the lake about 6months ago there was about 50 drakes on the lake together with a load of hens now there are just a few hens he said that some one has shot all the drakes and taken them to sell.

That is such a horrible thing to have happened there really are some evil people about. And now they are going to have to find some drakes from somewhere in order to get a viable population again.

Was it Elmer Fudd?
That is shocking mate!

Sorry couldn't resist!

Good that you managed another outing but sad news about the drakes. Are you still taking steroids? If not when you were did you notice this effect?
