Enjoy the Christmas period, extended tho' Mrs L may make it .

However we celebrate or not, we'll all look back at some point and remember with fondness the minutest of details, regardless of how the whole piece/peas/peace turns out .

Live long & prosper master Luke.

Good morning everyone from a “here comes the sun” start to this weeks international bin lorry cavalcade extraveganza here in the dark and dangerous north. We remnants of a bygone age are easily entertained. It’s like holding a lantern in the dark and watching the moths flock to the light and do a bit of head banging. Girl In The Bubble made a paper chain last night as a finishing flourish to what now resembles the centerpiece of Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas village in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Dental appointment this afternoon - just a regular check up but what fun! Art bit, well that’s whatever you like. I am reminded of the Epic of Gilgamesh in that our plans can be ruined by a myriad of things. My day will be a bit more pleasant as I ignore those possibilities. Bin lorry has been and gone so I best now go and make more koffy.
Simple wash, but very effective @dunelm

Things look different in my bedroom now in the kaleidoscope app...this is my bedroom door...

Shelving is all up now!!!

I am shattered. Went out to pick up some parcels, did some food shopping, tried to find some bits for my bedroom, but Xmas decorations has taken over the shops, and I couldn't find what I needed.

Got back home, went to bed and slept next few hours. Not a scrap of energy left. Then at 3 pm orange weather alert. The sky was dark as night. The weather turned wild. The electric power kept going off and on, off and on.....

Made a couple of flasks of tea. Checked all my battery things were powered up. Lights kept going off and on.

Nearly couldn't post this before the time of midnight...internet problems....

Sweet dreams.

Night night....

Sounds possible, and it may well come to that now. I have been dithering over a different huge house, in a different town, but in much better condition. Today decided it was the best available, only some else has got it under offer now !
MrSlim will be so angry that I didn't go to view it sooner. It's been on our list for a month. We don't need ten rooms, but it's in far better condition than the other two enormous wrecks he likes.
One factor MrSlim refuses to take into consideration is his age and gradually declining health. Which is a major reason for my dithering about what now seems the best we are likely to find. If it took fifteen years he would be nearly ninety.
Where I lived before @SlimLizzy there was this guy older than Mr Slim. He was in his early 90's. He had this huge semi detached house, bigger than my 13 roomed house (which I still wish I had for the space, but not the neighbours) and he still was up the ladder doing house repairs and pointing. He still was going up this very tall ladder (no scaffolding, no one holding his ladder) repointing the whole gable wall right up to the apex. The house was 3 main floors (rooms were very high ceilinged, had chandeliers when it was built), and then in addition two more attic floors. So you can imagine the height.

I imagine that will be Mr Slim. It is what he does. It is what he loves.Try and pick a house no more than 2 floors!!!!

You are doing the searching Lizzy for the house, as Mr Slim is in the UK. Therefore you have some control in choosing the 'safest' house for him to renovate.

Good luck.

Thanks @jjraak for your words.
Hugs for you for all your trials and tribulations you are going through. I have rooms in my head where I lock the wolf in to keep him at bay, but then another aspect of the wolf emerges, and the negativity is on the rampage again. What you have is the potential to go through on a daily basis, because of the different triggers, whether treatment or unexpected memories etc, has the possibility of feeling/being horrendous and probably feels never ending.

You are doing amazingly, and I know you do realise that.

You take care, and always be kind to yourself.

I don't do creative but I do enjoy finding and sharing what other, talented people have created, usually in linguistic form as that is my preferred learning style. Here is a deceptively simple poem about a poor Detroit childhood stripped of what one analyst called the rosy glow of a Hovis advert treatment. For me there are bitter sweet - I miss so many relatives - memories and an overdue penny dropping of what my grandfathers would have done. There was none of the chronic angers in any of the homes of my childhood: apologies for any who unhappily remember only too well such times. Many here have grandchildren who will only know of warm homes, ample food, presents and treats. For myself I'm more than happy for them to live for years in a blissful state of what did I know, what did I know? Life is about more than carb counting it also involves love’s austere and lonely offices for some here. I've ordered the turkey today thanks be to God for the wherewithal and to those whose
cracked hands that ached
from labor in the weekday weather made
banked fires blaze. (and so much more) who made that possible. Sadly, No one ever thanked him (them) properly but I know they didn't do it for thanks.
Smashing poem @ianpspurs, brings back some memories but thankfully always good ones.

Congratulations on getting those shelves up - guaranteed to be up before Christmas unlike the promises made by certain sofa companies. Thanks for another Intersting kaleidoscope and hope that the elastic trickery is fully functioning today.

Good morning everyone on another splendidly quiet start to the day here in the dark and dangerous north. Did we all enjoy Krampus Night last night? It’s like a normal Friday night in Newcastle but in German and with clothes on. German, Geordie - who can tell when ‘kanny bonny ganin’ means ‘can anybody get in?’ Today looks like a magical journey in the rain down to Birmingham to visit the grandchildren and of course their zoo keepers. Should be a fun packed weekend and we have been asked to get there in time for meet and greet as they exit school. German Market as possibility on Saturday but it’s not top of anyones list - a mere whisper of a whim or just a whim away - ask any sleeping lion or Solomon Linda. Art bit - red sky in the morning. Keep warm, I’m drinking koffy/

Thank you very much @dunelm

Remember your suggestion probably about two months ago, when I said about my friend D, not getting a moment's peace from her husband who wanted her at his beck and call all day when he just sat in his chair, and she was completely mithered by him. You suggested the possibility of noise cancelling headphones...

I knew she would never buy any, her husband would've given her no peace that she done so. So I bought a good quality pair for her, told her it was her birthday present for next year! To my surprise, she didn't say oh you shouldn't have done that, she literally hugged them when I gave them to her. And I told her that she had to tell her husband that when she wanted to watch a program, this was her hour.

My friend D has been using them for over a month now. She absolutely loves them... and because I bought them, her husband does not say a word against them, which I had expected him to do so. So when she tells him in an evening that she's going to put the headphones on and she will not respond to any requests for one hour, 'Oh, it's Genny's Hour', he says. My friend looked a lot 'lighter' in her face when I last saw her. It has made a heck of a difference to her...

They still argue and fight, and she has to wait on him hand and foot, but she gets that one hour reprieve every single day. That is worth it weight in gold.

So thank you for your suggestion, I think it's saved her sanity...

Marvelous, what a result. I remember a time when an aunt of mine who had lost her husband eventually remarried only to find that her new husband drank a bottle of scotch each day. When pouring her heart out to her mum (my grandmother), granny told her to give him two bottles a day and leave a bar of wet soap at the top of the stairs.

I hope you are feeling better than you were yesterday @JohnEGreen

Thank you gennepher yes feeling a lot better but not fully recovered yet.
One effect of the reaction has been a bad rash on my face looked rather like severe sunburn and itching all over had been scratching so much that my arm is covered in scratches where I had actually caused my arm to bleed.
Yesterday had an appointment for wound dressing the nurse took one look at me and insisted I see one of the doctors so had to hang about in the surgery till one of the doctors was available who prescribed me some ointment for my face.
I had ridden my scooter to the doctors but when just short of the surgery the battery ran out of charge while I was in the doctors Melody decided to try and push the scooter home luckily a guy who was passing bye stopped got out of his van and helped her get it home there are some genuinely nice people around. Keiran picked me up in the car after I had seen the doctor. Bit of a day really.

Morning all on a reasonably sunny and calm start to the Feast of St Nicolas of Myra here in L.A.. Slightly hard to reconcile with an Advent fast, perhaps fish instead of meat is the clue - at least for a Friday. I'll have the salmon please waiter. @gennepher hug for the tiredness, winner for the shelving being completed. Thank you for sharing the video and kaleidoscope. How kind but typical from what I have gleaned of you to do that for D. @dunelm thank you for sharing Krampus Night and today's art which seems so much more hopeful for the addition of more red. Have a safe journey to Birmingham and back, obviously. @JohnEGreen big hugs for yesterday and my sincere sympathy for itching - the urge to scratch is very strong, I know only too well. I pray the cream works well and quickly. Too wet, windy and cold for JKP to push a 94 year old around Merry Mildenhall last evening and road closures meant getting to the church was not on. My contribution to all the sharing and caring on here is this: Bing and David say Hi ; Lyrics The weekend weather looks to be a problem for all sorts of events so we may not traverse The Fens for Ely Cathedral's Big Christmas tree lights switch on extravaganza . It will be live on Youtube anyhow. Enjoy your Friday as far as lies within your power.
