A hug fur the power failure04.01.2025
9.05am FBG 4.8
-4°C this frosty morning with sleet or snow forecast for this afternoon.
After dramatic power cuts yesterday, last night ran out of gas, requiring some inguenity to provide hot meals. Its saturday, so local shop is closed. Last night oven chips finished cooking on top of the woodburner along with a rather scrambled mixed pepper and dried cherry tomato omelette. Today lunch is toast and sardines. Dinner will noodles with a tin of prawns and homemade pasta sauce warmed in microwave.
Kiki was excited at the idea of sardines and sat on MrSlims lap hoping for crumbs, she did eventually get her expected reward for not attempting to help herself and then settled on my lap. Such a rare event I am disinclined to move her, even though there is still much to do.
Good that the physio has sent JKP exercises. It sounds as though the "break" (as much as you do breaks) has done you a power of good. I hope you take the lessons of #anklegate into 2025 and beyond. File that under aspiration, I suspect.Thank you for the good wishes for MIL and JKP. The physio has sent JKP exercises and the GP says keep taking the pills but mostly smile and wave.
Sailing through the mists.....Good morning everyone in the perfection that is the silence of dawn here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.4 this glorious a.m. Got some more logs yesterday. Just a car boot full. Which isn’t a huge amount when you are in a Smart car. But enough for a week and merely a top up. Snow forecast - well there you go. Never happened before has it? The Met Office is wanting folk to stock up on torches and batteries, candles with matches and lighters and plenty of blankets and warm clothing. But they don’t appear to be listed in “these are a few of my favourite things” Julie. When it arrives, there it will be. I will check our lanthorns. Art bit - Sailing from Lisbon. Hope your day is a good one and don’t crick your neck when gazing up at the Quadrantids meteor shower (best one of the year so far). Koffy, best make some koffy.
Thanks Ian...Morning all on a perfectly imperfect January morning in Breckland. I have no idea of my fbg which makes my presence here rather superfluous bearing in mind one part of the thread title but you are an indulgent crowd.. @dunelm and @gennepher thank you for sharing your artistic skills once again. @Krystyna23040 shame about the rain in New Zealand for your friend but them's the breaks. A day to catch breath here before celebrating a 95th birthday tomorrow. Likely to be very low key as JKP still has a very bad back and we are all big family feasted out. Cake for the Normies and tea for this Tillerman: shame he was then called Cat. Yes, I saw your Prince/Symbol etc and raised you. Ange may not make it to Wednesday, he seems to have broken all Danny Boy's B and M toys aged over 18. Are Pork Clouds an acceptable sub for popcorn ? Enjoy your Saturday - it was once rumoured you could go your own way.
Let’s hope that MrSlim is back up and running when the removal van arrives - interesting times.Thank you @dunelm a last minute decision has me travelling to UK on Christmas eve. MrSlim stayed in France, good decision as he went down with heavy cold? Flu? On boxing day - which is when we have the family party. He has been very unwell but is starting to recover now. Which is a really good thing as the removal van arrives Tuesday.
Edit: written yesterday but failed to post.
Great ingenuity there with menus and thank goodness for a woodburner04.01.2025

Hug for Mr Slim and the gas running out. Wonderful improvisation to deal with the hot food issue. I hope Mr Slim is recovered by removal van day.04.01.2025

Yeah, still around, but as always, too busy to spend a lot of time on here, not only Mrs L but my eldest ha s been in hospital, not sure what, but high blood sugar and such, liver issues etc. Don't know if he is diabetic waiting for results etc. His previous issues with ulcers , are still ongoing. Daughter has flu in Yorkie land. Babysitting #7 , cos DiL working cos hospital is overcrowded. Eldest was in overflow A&E ward for his stay.I was wondering where @Lamont D has got to, but I see he has posted today on a different forum, so it can't be too alarming.
Not sure what is happening here in the Art Bit....Good morning everyone from the top of a Victoria sponge here in the dark and dangerous north. 5.6 this a.m. and forecast is for snow until 3 and then rain for a while. Tomorrow may be ice skating. Yesterday. Walked into town with the idea of catching the bus back. A few shops to visit so timing critical. Missed bus by about 15 seconds. Two not very heavy shopping bags and a pleasant mile and a half walk - and no gym fees in sight - result! Just had an epiphany; was it Shakespeare who invented gender dysphoria Cesario? Anyhow, art bit, 12th Night. May your welly boots be cozy and warm before you don them. Must get on, I have tasks to ignore - but first koffy - the last of the Monsoon Malabar which has done splendidly for 12 days and far better a gift than a daily delivery of birds and noisy strangers.
Well done on writing the exercise sheets and finding the perfect exercise. Pesto and perfect moules sans frites all in one post. C'est magnifique. Talking of Mr K, be kind to him, he's a keeper.5.9 this morning.
Yesterday wrote the exercise sheets for the new exercises I learnt over the break.
Straight away I found the perfect pictures to illustrate them on Google. Often it is hard to find the perfect image - but not yesterday.
One of the exercises I wasn't sure of as it was so easy to work the wrong muscles and damage the body.
After a bit of thought I tried out two adaptations and 'hey presto' the perfect exercise with absolutely no way of using the wrong muscles.
Isn't it wonderful when your brain works out difficult problems effortlessly.
I can forgive it all the times I go upstairs and forget what I have gone up for. Or when I go to get something out of a cupboard but end up opening the fridge door instead.
Yes, I do agree that Mr K is a keeper.Well done on writing the exercise sheets and finding the perfect exercise. Pesto and perfect moules sans frites all in one post. C'est magnifique. Talking of Mr K, be kind to him, he's a keeper.
