Good morning. Thanks for the mention and kind words. Yeah I went from unbelievable, stabbing, searing, throbbing, burning pain to feeling like I now walk on air. For me the fix was a paleo-style ketogenic diet. Essentially paleo but with dairy. No sugar no grains - zero tolerance policy. I took no pharmaceuticals or supplements. I did however use a certain green, natural, herbal painkiller to help me sleep at night. I was simultaneously dealing with laser treatment and anti-VEGF injections for retinopathy and macular oedema. All-in-all it was quite tedious
Coincidental that I should be tagged into this thread this morning, since I just scored my lowest ever fasting glucose of 4.1mmol/L
Edited to add: Thinking retrospectively, my body was sufficiently broken on diagnosis that I wonder if the miraculous turnaround is really to my own credit, or if I’m perhaps just a fortune hyper-responder to the Real Food diet
I totally agree, it very nearly put me in hospital as it was tracking into my eye (Doctor was panicking, but I was too ill to care) so to be still be out and about and competing in the British Powerlifting Championships on Friday I'm over the moon! Mind I don't know how the dogs are going to cope with me being away for a couple of days (I've never been away from these ones) but I expect the cold shoulder for a bit, then full on Bully snogs!!
Ooh full on bully snogs I do my best to avoid them!...cellulitis is a nasty business...I had two full weeks of intravenous antibiotics & a follow up with oral antibiotics for another month...you must be made of stern stuff john managing to compete in the power lifting & with the cellulitis.then full on Bully snogs!!
my bedtime and wake up numbers are staying stubbornly at 6,8. My doc says it’s not bad and asks me not to stress about it... but i am getting impatient
It is a nasty thing to have, my nose and cheeks swelled up and I had two black eyes the pain in my face was horrible. I'm glad you got over yours I genuinely wouldn't wish it on anyone, apparently the face is one of the worst places to get it (so the Doctor kept saying anyway) its the second time I've had it in two years and this one was by far the worst, I'm really looking forward to Friday and will enjoy all of it even though with all this ill business I won't be at my best I will enjoy it. And my two give the best Bully snogs ever! They are brilliant.Ooh full on bully snogs I do my best to avoid them!...cellulitis is a nasty business...I had two full weeks of intravenous antibiotics & a follow up with oral antibiotics for another month...you must be made of stern stuff john managing to compete in the power lifting & with the cellulitis.
Its not letting up here Krystyna but I'll have to take him out...as much for my sake as his I've been an ill disciplined diabetic of late so I need to restart my activity...going in about 30 minutes...towels & treats positioned by the door for our return.we did brave the rain and took the doggies out

Hug for the fall, bruised ribs and need to bolus at midnight. Fantastic to hear from you again - I was wondering what had become of you. The road trip sounds delightful, sans fall, restorative and generally spiffing.Morning everyone, hope you're all well and not totally soaked. Madam was delightful this morning and I was delighted with 4.7. The lovely number wasn't a surprise as I had to bolus at midnight to counteract the chocolate I munched on while reading some poems by Szymborska. Recently back from the small tour of driving through Spain into Portugal back into Spain and then home via France. We've bought a second hand left hand drive Renault to make the European forays easier and it really was a blast. The first night in Santander was fantastic only marred by realising I hadn't packed enough needles for the time away. Luckily I speak Spanish sufficiently well and was able to explain my problem to a pharmacist at our second stop, Luarca. She didn't have 4mm and they don't use these in Spain but she ordered some 6mm to be collected the next day. People are lovely and she was so helpful. Fish in Luarca was magnificent. Now I know this thread is "full on chat" but if I tell you all the ins and outs I'd be part way through my memoires. Fell over in Viseu on the wet cobbles and was helped by a whole gang of Portuguese wanting to get me an ambulance. It didn't happen and the next day we were off, me with bruised ribs. It was a magical journey. Lake Balaton is our next destination but the route has yet to be planned.
