Re Harry and Meghan I am not denying any of those views being the cause of Cake and Eat it. I like everyone else dont know the extent of their mental health issues but I cant help feeling that running away isnt the answer. Its not like they are going to live in obscurity so I cant see them being left alone anywhere. They could keep on just running away to find solutions. But hey what do I know!
Hear, hear

We can make informed decisions and have differing opinions, without the nonsense spouted by far too many that targets every one and anyone that doesn't agree with their own viewpoint.

(I do realise @ianpspurs was simply pointing out the link, without trying to link it to others)

5.2 today, had quite a lot of food yesterday on my day trip to Skipton.

Breakfast = continental.

Dinner tandoori cauliflower followed by naked cheese and bacon burger with salad. Then much of a cheeseboard was shared. All at the side of an old English pub's roaring log fire.

At the Ivor Cummings presentation a low carb supper. So late eating that (about 7pm). Lots of it, delicious and even had a low carb dessert, cheesecake. All absolutely yummy.

Blood sugar rose but nothing I was upset with after the feast I had eaten. And was back down within 2 hours where it stayed so very happy. I dont even know what I was eating but felt confident enough to go for everything!

Ivor Cummings was brilliant. 2.5 hours of information. Great evening. Amazing guy.

Posting my social media post here for info.

DAY 12 - PART 1 INDUSTRIAL SEED OILS (vegetable oils) are they bad for us? Me and Eric went to a talk this evening given by Ivor Cummings aka The Fat Emperor. What he doesnt know about fat isnt worth knowing.

He is a chemical engineer by trade but travels around the world giving talks nowadays.

He was brilliant. 7 years ago he had bloods done at his Drs and back came some very scary results. His job as a chemical engineer is to scrutinise everything and get answers to every single question leaving no stone unturned. He asked his doctor what the results meant. The Dr wasnt specific enough for Ivor so he went to a 2nd Dr. Same thing happened. So he went to a specialist but was let down again. He went home and went onto Google. There he found all the answers he had been looking for (bit like my story, good old Dr Google! My doctor wasnt happy at all that I Googled but other Drs encourage it as they see it as the patient wants to look after there health, selfcare).

I will just take one part of tonight's presentation and discuss here. Industrial seed oils.

***As always I'm just sharing info I've found out. I'm not offering advice. I just thought it was very interesting***

I already knew these oils were damaging, but was shocked to learn how many health problems are associated with them: asthma, autoimmune disease, depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, dementia, diabetes, obesity, fatty liver disease, cardiovascular disease, IBS, IBD, inflammation, infertility, macular degeneration, and osteoarthritis. So, what are industrial seed oils and how are they made?

A seed oil is a vegetable oil that is obtained from the seed of some plant, rather than the fruit. Most vegetable oils are seed oils. Some common examples are soybean, safflower, sunflower, corn, cottonseed, rapeseed (canola), peanut Some important vegetable oils are not seed oils for example olive oil.

In addition to the seed oil's use in cooking and baking, they’re found in processed foods, salad dressings, margarine, mayonnaise, and biscuits. Refined vegetable oils were not available until the 20th century, when the technology to extract them became available. The consumption of vegetable oils has increased dramatically in the past century, coinciding with the obesity and diabetes epidemics we are dealing with (Ivor's words). Their health effects vary depending on what fatty acids they contain, what plants they are extracted from, and how they are processed. They are extracted from plants using either a chemical solvent or oil mill. Then they are often purified, refined, and sometimes chemically altered.
Check out this video to see the processing of the oil!!!

JJ is back in da house..whoop whoop

so missed you guys..xxx
did log in each day when i could, but i missed wayy too many posts..apologies one and all.

all over the shop this am
a long bum flight back

(can i say bum even though i mean loong ass-ed ;))

way over 13 hours plus in the air, add in the terminal and travelling to and from..hell of a long day.

wonderful, wonderful holiday.lovely people, the Vietnamese, met a great bunch of people too, sunbathed, rode, swam, danced, drank and just partied way more then i should for my age, for the whole two weeks...can't recommend it enough...Phu Quoc., Vietnam
massive developments going up, but we got a real village, undisturbed sleep, empty roads to travel, not one bit of bother anywhere, prices cheap.. and the food by sea, the best madame's ever had..and she knows her foods.

so home, hungry ..a quick fry up.. eggs, streaky bacon, mushrooms, toms and toast...big mug of tea..food of the gods ..:D

up a few times last night dumping carbs, i think.

yep pretty good most days, but last few days went rogue.
ate things i shouldn't..drank more then i should..but more of that in later posts.

So not lchf last few days and flight home was deffo not either.

awoke this morning tired and ravenous...a small ramekin of beans on toast..(the carb lure is strong obi -wan)
so i can now say with certainty.

I LOOOVE holidays...:D

and carbs DO hit me in interesting evil ways.

too many carbs for me is like too many drinks..my body just tries to flush them away like any other diuretic.

HUNGER..is back with a vengeance..so that HAS to go asap.

damaged knee in first week fall,..(still horrified at how quickly THAT could have gone SO wrong..:wideyed::***: )

seemed to be getting better, but hi carb and the inflammation kicked in.
so lo carb has helped MY inflammation issues

so a lo carb/keto route once i stabilise today to get me back into the safety zone.

so the journey back starts here..this am a 6.7,
but expected much, much worse.if i'm honest:wacky:

so grinning a toothy suntanned smile at the instrument of best guesses.
hope it does better by me tomorrow.

love ya all
..nice to be back...(ish..:hilarious: )

will catch up later, but best wished to you @DJC for the visit.
hope all goes well.

and for others of us..have a great day
best wishes with you all for a good day today.

Really enjoyed my holiday with you both. Would never have thought of holidaying there but you have inspired me!. Thsnj you so much for sharing. I will do the same in March but somehow I feel Torremolinos wont have the same effect on forum members as your posts have:)

Glad you liked..I'd recommend.

The two couples we spent most time with, had both been at the same hotel the year before.
Pretty seasoned travelers, and both loved it.

I love seeing everyone holiday pics..I'm not ashamed to live vicariously through others...:bag:

Missus and her G/F's went to benidorm recently.. She loved it... Insisting we go there at some point.. Looking forward to it immensely.

It doesn't really matter where you go.. It's who you go with that's important... And
she's MY Goto . As Eric is yours, I think.
We always have fun and laughter wherever we go..

I want, nay, DEMAND pics of Torre...it's rule 13a of this threads forum code, in case you had forgot..:D

@Krystyna23040 I wonder how much they really know about diet?
My view (without any scientific basis), is that someone decides something (for whatever reason whether it be a limited study or whatever to prove the outcome they want), and then over time this becomes compounded into a 'truth' (but really a myth), and us poor common mortals have to suffer the consequences following this flawed advice.
Just my view...

Well I got the all clear again today! Scan showed no sign of metastasis so I have another 6 months of waking up happy every day and grateful to be alive. Can’t tell you how that feels but thank you so much for all the support and good luck messages you smashing people have given me. Off to do a bit of celebrating now ( glass of red and some cheese rock n roll!)
What wonderful news. I have already said it on another post but say it again. So happy for you.

Ok peeps small steps ... but for the first time since what feels like forever I’ve actually had some of my meds reduced. Small victories with lchf

That's not small. That's what I call amazing. Especially when we are told meds are for life, 'the diabetes will be progressive'. Well done.

@gennepher Thank you for posting your lovely b&w painting.

@ianpspurs thank you for posting Psalm 8. I remember a lovely song based on the first verse. :)
BTW I think your butcher needs to chill out a little. Mine is used to being asked to split huge packages of beef into smaller ones for me. :D

@jjraak great lyric! And you didn't require copious amounts of alcohol (or did you?).

@HarryBeau hugs and sympathy for the time-wasting company and the ridiculous food substitutions. I would have been furious too and would have let a similar vendor know in no uncertain terms (well, might have been uncertain to them as they probably would not have understood English very well. ... :banghead:. Actually it is not so much like beating my head against a brick wall as like beating my head against a mist ... sigh).

Good morning everyone from the dark and dangerous north.

The wonder wheel of sous vide chicken and a couple of eggs fried in butter came in at a “shut that door” 4.0 this a.m.

It’s that there Friday again - end of the long weekend or beginning of the short weekend. Who cares, the sun is breaking through and as Mrs Migging and I both have a blank space in our busy retirement calendars, we are off for a spin over the moors to Whitby. We might call in at Bram Stoker’s old appartment and make enquires about his penchant for sweet treats and fast food.

Anyhow, have a great day if you can, wear a cross and pace yourself over 100m if you can’t.

Blues is good, I see a slow blues in the key of E so Chords for anyone wishing to join in will be E, A7 diminished, B7
BUT @jjraak I have to INSIST I do the music, can't have any of this SAX here and Drum beat interference if we are going to do this. Anyway a Clarinet would be much better than a SAX.
Of course we could do a Jazz/Blues in the key of Dm that would be Chords Dm, A7 and a Jazzy Bflat. Along the lines of the wonderful 'St James Infirmary Blues'

I like your blues chord progression. May I suggest a harmonica in the mix as well? ;)

I'm glad you and @jjraak are succeeding so well without the locked room. While I don't know how copious the amounts of alcohol that were involved, I would have suggested the rubbing kind for writer's cramp, as IIRc Keith and Mick were locked in with no food and not even a bathroom! :wideyed:

Not talent...just hard slog practice over the years. And trying different mediums and techniques.

I respectfully disagree about the talent involved :) ... the horse I drew the other day to post here is exactly like the horses I was drawing decades ago, no talent there ... OTOH, jamming with a new musician-friend the past couple of years has improved my guitar playing. As (I hope) will @Muddy Cyclist 's post just this morning about the jazz chord progression ...
