What was your fasting blood glucose? (full on chat)

Good morning from a damp and chilly Fenland. The Tee 2 showed 4.7 around 5.25 this morning but this is about fbg so who knows what I should type and what that number even means? Bg did what the textbook and meter predicted it would this morning. A pity the price of that seems to be enough sleep. Fall asleep quickly but wake too early. Psalm 5 verses 1 and 2 very apt this morning. @SaskiaKC I struggled with a loving , inclusive God fully on board with 1 Timothy 2 11-15. I'm busy preparing to move my tent and praying enough of me will be successfully transplanted. Far worse things happening in the world than relocating 25 miles away but terroir can't be measured in miles it's in one's DNA. Took me well over 30 years and 3 moves to properly recover from South London. Julie's roses in memory of her dad and sister have survived 4 moves so with care the roses and I have 2 more moves in us. We aren't going into slavery in Egypt but .... Have a great day.

Good Morning and 5.7 today, lower than previous mornings thank goodness.

A strong North Westerly here today so no Muddy Cycle Rides, a day for getting on leaning the blues harmonica, how can something that looks so easy be so difficult?

@ianpspurs moving camp, admiration for even thinking about it let alone doing it, hope all is running smoothly in preparation.

Let the wind blow your troubles away and embrace the day ahead with wonder and courage.

up WAAY too early :arghh::arghh::arghh: (5 am)

No real reason..so tea and test..Only a Blooming McGarrett...:D..

Happy days yesterday, scooter sale went well
( *motorised version*..NOT the E-Scooters that i see EVERYWHERE.... illegal as they are..Still want one :wacky:)

So what should have been a 30 min run home became a shake down ride, for 3 hours, JUST to be sure., As ya do.;)

No real issues, a few things to attend to..Amazon contacted for a few bits today tomorrow,
feels weird, even though i ride everywhere overseas on one, being HERE doing it.
but Hey Ho..i liked it, it did what it said on the advert tin, so happy on that score.

Lauren, likes the look of it..already talking of our first trip out..so all good in da hood.

As an Omen, ..not attended to Motorcycle for a while..:sorry:....some scumbag, has taken something to the ignition and ripped out the cylinder...<furious emoji>..

so have to find and replace that before i can sell on..i'm taking that as a sign...
(it's a nice neighbourhood,
BUT it IS London )
That the bikes time has come, sadly

Not sure what to do today that isn't Pampering or a little TLC of the new addition to the Raak family
apart from a long leisurely ride out somewhere ..(Weather looks like it won't rain too much IF it does even start).

off to coast (car) tomorrow..laurens G/f's mum has bought wardrobe, can i go put together...so I've been volunteered.
Don't mind, gets me off the hook for today, as i ain't doing Nuffink but playing Sting..:hilarious:

Outdone by @Muddy Cyclist and his famous 'Last Words'...
So won't even try to match his quality wordage.

Suffices for me to say hope you all have a good one, today.

Glad your bgs are heading back to more normal levels and great attitude in the last sentence. Reminds me of the Joni Mitchell song let the wind carry me. (More Ms M may appear today or later in the week)

Morning All. Nice bright morning here except for 5.7 (after an omelette? ).
Could be much worse. @ianpspurs I have tent moving envy but I will be just like you if it a tually happens. First viewing today and another two planned. Another man coming to quote for the facias and soffits which will never get through any survey, two holes and more after 6 months of driving rain on the top of this hill. Dont think spring flowers by the front door will distract anyone but at least we are doing it. @Muddy Cyclist glad things are more settled for you. @jjraak congrats on the new addition. Can visualise you and Lauren cruising along with the wind in your hair..but be careful, like I always tell my boys. Sucks about the MB damage.
Have a great day everyone. Stay well, stay safe.

Morning...great drama here let the beasts out of their room as usual Charlie rushed downstairs to demand his breakfast...I slipped into my room to retrieve a warm jumper...breakfast done no sign of Charlie...we searched the entire house no sign of him...searched again still no Charlie...starting to get worried I knew he had come downstairs where the fudge was he...Lola wouldn't eat...finally I hear a teeny tiny mewing from upstairs located him in the wardrobe he'd slipped in there...phew...cant tell what I said to him...trauma over...woke to a 6.2

Best wishes for the viewings and prayers for successful tent moving. "Staging" those viewing "events" is a nightmare so absolutely no envy there but plenty of sympathy. My issues with the move are much more like the final act in the grieving process for my parents. God has a way of making one face things one would rather deal with by displacement (updating this house, chickens, gardening, being ultra Fenlandish take a bow) - think he may be telling me almost 7 years is time to let go. Memories are good - living in a shrine is dangerous. (I do tend to overthink sometimes, allegedly:angelic:). @PenguinMum Omelette = the familiar; 5.7 fbg = 1st viewing anyone?

Good morning everyone from another glorious, yet to be experienced, day in the dark and dangerous north. Mrs Miggins asked me to thank everyone for her birthday wishes; like a pile of cards falling through the letter box and trying to guess the identity of the sender by the handwriting on the envelope and then the postmark.

The wonder wheel of massive over indulgent celebratory greediness and laying in bed for longer than necessary caught the top of the, albeit small, Cresta Wave for a 5.8 when I eventually dragged myself downstairs. It then dropped to 5.4 then up to 5.6, now heading towards the basement. I think perhaps a day for some bone broth and a slapped leg. The restaurant last night was a good choice though, excellent food. We overindulged with two courses and I greedily tucked into the dazzling array of treats on offer. As designated driver I can only comment on the cost of the sparkling water.

@ianpspurs, great reading this morning and you are right, “who knows what I should type and what that number even means“. It’s a drop of water taken out of an ever changing river after a storm, staring closely at the hand of Captain Frans Banninck Cocq leading out Militia Company of District II instead of stepping right back and viewing the enormity of Rembrandts wonderful Night Watch.
@Muddy Cyclist, nice reading, may they continue to be so.
@jjraak - nice scooter and sorry read that some scumbag has damaged your bike, so blooming frustrating.
@Debandez - average for the last 30 days 4.6 dragging the last 90 day average down to 5.0 (previous 90 day averages have been a tad higher).

I must go, I need to search outside, under the bushes, in the bins, perhaps next door’s bins also in case we have been visited by Hermes during the past decade - what an awful state of events. They tried deliver our parcel to our next door neighbour a couple of weeks ago and the driver insisted that he had the correct address. Bonkers.

Koffy - “where is my koffy?”

Thanks Ian and all best wishes to you and Julie for a smooth transition. Ah yes the staging like making the bed like a mathematic equation not to mention the cushion arranging. We did 26 viewings between April and Oct 2019 without even a snifter of an offer but it was the year it was. The agent says this time we needed to go early as they expect the second half of this year to be just as bad. I think the culprit for fbg is one of those 10 cal jellies I discovered going out of date. It must be the artificial sweetner they use because I remember them being dodgy last summer. Another thing to strike off., never mind.

Fbg 8.1

I ate as I should do to keep my blood sugars low as possible, and I did have a reading of 6.8 during yesterday.

But there was a stressful crisis (to me and Popeye) mid afternoon. It was still full daylight. Inhad just trimmed his very sharp front claws a little bit. That was fine. Took him into the kitchen for a treat which he had. Then he went to the cat flap and was listening (as he usually does before he goes out of it). Then I went to get my mug from the other room. Came back a moment later to a quivering terrified cowed Popeye. I couldn't get near him. He was in a blind panic.

The cat flap was broken. Fur was torn out from Popeye's neck. There was a bite mark through his left ear and a small wound just in front of his ear. I had managed to grab him. This was when I found the bite mark that pierced his ear, and the other small wound. More fur came off his neck, but there were no more wounds. I put bee propolis on the wounds (I use that for my wounds too). But he was still absolutely terrified. He was like a wet dish rag, a toy doll that had its stuffing taken out. I was upset. But there were no more apparent physical injuries.

So I took him to the couch and hugged him the next few hours. My poor Popeye.

Then I had to get up because I hadn't yet put the heavy wooden chest in front of the cat flap for the night, I should have done it after whatever happened to Popeye.

Popeye followed me, took one look in fear at the cat flap and fled back into the front room under the berber fleeces on the couch. The poor guy is 28 years old in May this year. This is not fair.

He refused to come to bed with me and wanted to stay buried under the fleeces on the couch. So I went to bed, kept checking on him, and about 2 am he woke. So I am thinking he wants the toilet. I did buy a cat lead and harness a couple of years ago (I just saw it in the pet shop and thought it might come in use oneday). And at the time he just laid spreadeagled on the floor refusing to move with it in.

But to my surprise he accepted me putting it on. I went into the back garden. I had my miners headlamp on to light up the garden so he and I could see. He refused to toilet while on the lead, but I wouldn't take it off. He sniffed all round the garden, licked blades of grass, ate blades of grass. And was chomping at the bit for me to let him off the lead. He had his confidence back. But I wouldn't let him off. I was not searching for a cat in the dark.

Then we came in, and he wanted to go in the kitchen. Sat on the radiator shelf and his eyes are glued to the cat flap, but you can't see it because the wood chest is still in front of it. He wanted to be left in the kitchen, I did try to take him to bed, but he wanted the radiator shelf in the kitchen. I felt happier leaving the kitchen light on for him.

So I got up a bit later to do my painting. Checked on Popeye (the doors are open, he can come in the rest of the bungalow any time), he was still on the radiator shelf. I fed him. Then he wanted to go out of the cat flap. He had filled back out again from that feeling of when I lifted him yesterday that all his stuffing had been pulled out. I took that as meaning his confidence was back. I did move the wooden chest, and he was ready to go out, but I grabbed him, put the lead back on and took him out in the back garden through the back door. But he wanted to get through to the outside of the cat flap on the kitchen door. Which I can't access from the back garden. Reluctantly I let him off the lead. Let him go through. I went to the kitchen door and a moment later he came in through the cat flap. So I presume he has done his investigation out there, and satisfied himself.

He is now on the radiator shelf in the kitchen with his eyes fixated on that cat flap. He has had more bee propolis on the two wounds which are healing already. It is okay/safe for him to lick it, but he hasn't. He got a couple of squirts of Bach flower rescue remedy in his mouth...strangely he was fine with that. It can be used for animals.

And I am all alone in bed writing this up...he is not moving from that radiator shelf or the cat flap. I keep going in and checking on him, I did try the wooden chest back in front of the cat flap, but he is still not leaving his post of watch. His confidence is back, but yesterday scared me on how terrified he was.

So now, I have taped the broken bits of the cat flap, it was the white plastic surround that broke. Something, whatever it was, was waiting outside the cat flap for him yesterday afternoon in the broad daylight. I have cleaned the plastic so called see through door of it, but it is opaque. I was wondering for the moment, should I take that plastic opaque door off, so Popeye can see clearly outside before he uses it. I can easily put the wooden chest in front of it, at other times, when I don't want him using it. Or block it from outside when I am going out.

I had a couple of other ideas. Paint a scary animal face with the mouth part around the cat flap hole. And maybe a picture of an animal inside, somehow, so if anything looks in they will see an animal?

This will scare the living daylights out of the Hermes man (it is always the same guy, he looks like a hobbit and dances from foot to foot as he speaks), who by the way I have had words with personally over the rosemary bush incident, and he retaliated with I have too many notices in my front window to read...the notices only say no tradesmen or religious callers etc. For some reason he objects to my notices and interprets them as that I don't want him to deliver my parcels. So we did have a fine old ding dong on that one.

I would love to see the Hermes guy's reaction if I painted a scary animal fanged face around the cat flap...I am sorely tempted...

Just checked on Popeye again. He seems perfectly content on that radiator shelf watching the cat flap. Maybe he is planning his revenge as well.

So here is my painting for today. And abstract. A4 sized. Acrylics.

I am sorry f I missed some posts yesterday, or any that mentioned me, but the site went down 3 times as I was using it, and I lost a couple of replies I had made, they disappeared, and then when the site came back I couldn't remember what I was replying to.

Have a good day.
Hugs for those who need them.
Take care.

Just going to check again on his Lordship, and make a cuppa, come back to bed and go back through your posts...

That still happens here and these two are 7 yo. Open a drawer or cupboard and they’re there. Any cardboard box they will play happily for ages. Have a better day today.

Good 90 day average young sir, the bigger picture reference is well aimed and pleased last night was so convivial. For you and the longer term carnivores I felt this article (minus the shameless plugs) was useful https://www.theguardian.com/food/20...e-ethical-guide-to-eating-meat-eggs-and-dairy .
@karen8967 another great fbg - all seems to be going well lately as far as they are concerned. @PenguinMum 10 cal jelly and sweetener? I tend to think that is a prime example of how the no-carbinistas have overplayed their hand in some areas and a similar reckoning awaits.

Although they are both growing at a vast pace their meows are almost inaudible...so it took a while to locate him silly boy.

5.3 this morning. A bit surprising as when I got home from work yesterday at 10pm I was absolutely starving so had some Montezuma 100% and almond butter - even though BS was an unusually high 7.1. So how on earth is it 5.3 this morning?

Actually I'm not expecting anyone to fathom out the mystery of T2D and fbs. So am not expecting any answers to my question - unless of course you have a quantum computer.

Doggie walk was absolutely freezing - the wind was so bitterly cold. Doggies are now asleep at my feet and I am relaxing with a coffee.

The cat flap was broken. Fur was torn out from Popeye's neck.
No poor Popeye (and you)...it doesn't matter what age they are they will protect their territory at all costs genneper thankfully he is home & safe with you now...one of my favourite cats Gorgeous (he was called that when he arrived as a stray) despite his advanced age would fend off the neighbourhood cats at all costs and he was tiny...he had many a battle & several scars...it must have been a terrible fright I hope you both get some respite today...

@gennepher what a horrible experience for Popeye and you. Do you think it was a fox? I am glad he seems to be recovering well. I dont know if Popeye is micro chipped but mine are and our catflap will only admit our animals. Of course if they are out they must fend for themselves but I choose to lock the catflap just before dark and reopen it in the morning when it is light. We are rural and foxes, badgers, deer and who knows what else cross our garden in the dark. Hope Popeye continues to feel better.

Thank you @HarryBeau
He has gone out, caught his morning mouse, came back in the kitchen when I called him, as I was making my coffee. And then he leads me back to my bed, miaowing me to follow!!!

So everything is back to normal now. I am very happy he is sitting on me cleaning himself from top to bottom....

And then he leads me back to my bed, miaowing me to follow!!!
They do put us through it gennepher… however worried we are about them we still have to allow them to be hunter/gatherers/protectors...isn't it a relief when we know they're okay & safe.

I have a routine for these two PM...they have a bedtime & follow me upstairs for treats...then it's lock down for the night...I had a cat flap in London but none here...I'm going to keep that up for as long as I can and we're doing recall training with limited trips outside just for a couple of minutes...having more success ATM ( I stress that) than I did with Harry who was visiting last night.
